NFL DOMINATION CONTINUES; 2 NBA WG FRIDAY

last night, completing a prime time NFL sweep with Philadelphia.

OHIO +14.5 Louisville

Louisville is
certainly vulnerable as their 2-2 mark shows.
The best team they’ve beaten all year is Northwestern
State
. The Cards have not even
played a road game this year (two neutral), which makes their .500 record even
more despicable.

Regardless, there is no panic in Louisville
as they are still in a prepare-for-the-big-boys mode. They have 10 games in the
next 22 days, all at home. Louisville
has had their share of injuries and a big suspension, so no surprise continuity
is a problem.

Ohio is
quick, which will pose problems for the Cards. Pitino said the Mid-American
Conference team is very similar to Dayton,
which beat UofL 68-64 a week ago .

Iowa-Iowa State

Press Notes

Iowa (4-5)
meets Iowa State
(6-2) Friday, Dec. 5 in the second of three straight games against in-state
rivals. Coach Steve Alford, including a 54-5 (.915) mark in non-conference home
games. Two of the four non-conference home losses game in the National
Invitation Tournament. Iowa holds
a 40-19 advantage in the series. Iowa
has won four of the last seven meetings and six of the last 10. Just seven of
the last 17 games have had a final margin of eight points or less. The visiting
team has won seven of the last 13 meetings. Iowa
holds a 24-5 advantage in games played in Iowa City,
including an 8-4 mark in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Iowa
State
’s last win in Iowa
City
was a 73-69 decision in December, 2002. Iowa’s
all-time record against current members of the Big 12 Conference is 87-47,
including losses to Texas (68-59)
and Iowa State
last season.

Iowa State
is 47-89 all-time against current members of the Big Ten Conference, including
a 68-63 win at Minnesota earlier
this season. Senior guard Mike Henderson, who missed Iowa’s
first seven games after suffering a hand injury in practice on Oct. 30, saw his
first action of the season in Iowa’s
win over Coppin
State
. Henderson
suffered a fracture to the pinkie finger on his right hand and underwent
surgery two days later. Henderson
had the cast removed Nov. 27 before playing eight minutes vs. Coppin State
and 11 minutes vs. Northern Iowa. Henderson
(6-3, 200), a Waterloo, IA
native, started all 34 games a year ago. He averaged 7.6 points and 3.9
rebounds per outing while shooting 46.4% from three-point range. He earned the
team “Most Improved Award” at the conclusion of the season.

Eastern Michigan-San Diego

Press Notes

Sand Diego’s Nir Cohen, a
6-foot-7, 245-pound senior forward/center from Israel,
will be sidelined for an estimated four to six weeks after suffering a fracture
to the third metacarpal (middle finger) in his left hand. The injury occurred
in the afternoon shootaround before the Point Loma
game on Nov. 16th during a defensive drill against the scout team
running the PLNU offense. Cohen said he was hit by a
teammate’s elbow. Through two games Cohen was averaging 14.5 ppg and 4.5 rpg while shooting 60% from the field and 76.9 percent from
the free throw line. The USD Toreros won their second
straight game with Tuesday’s 92-72 home win over the Cal State Bakersfield. The
win also improved USD’s home record this season to a
perfect 3-0. USD will be gunning for its third
straight win and second straight road victory when they tip-off against the Eastern Michigan Eagles on
Friday.
The EWU Eagles are off to a 1-5 start
and bring a 4-game losing streak to the tourney. This past Tuesday they dropped
a 66-54 home decision to Oakland.
Prior to that they dropped road contests to Michigan
(80-51), Marquette (95-62) and Detroit
(72-52)

ANOTHER PRIME TIME NFL WINNER FROM NFL SPECIALIST

There are more than 600 services trying to sell sports
picks. There are less than a dozen that
are competent at it. No handicapper dominates any sport the way Joe Duffy’s
GodsTips does the NFL. This is a simple indisputable fact. We have dominated
the NFL Network much like we have MNF.

Thanksgiving it was a Wise Guy on Kansas
City
and last week and Major on Cincinnati.
Our quarter century of NFL domination continues tonight as we have the side for
Cleveland-Pittsburgh plus two TNT NBA winners and the ESPN Alabama-Notre Dame
side. You get the all of today’s Joe Duffy’s

CBB

LONG BEACH STATE -6 Pepperdine

The Long Beach State
men’s basketball team will play its first home game in a day short of three
weeks. They will get an additional lift tonight. Senior guard Kejuan Johnson missed three games
after his broken nose was set on Nov. 27 but is expected to return to action
tonight.

The Waves are playing with a roster that includes just
eight scholarship players after sophomores Mike Gerrity and Chris Oakes quit, and Jason Walberg (who
transferred from Saint Mary’s to play for his father as a senior) suffered torn
knee ligaments last week.

Long Beach
will be better for the wear having played just one home game, four road,
including USC, UCLA and Temple and
two neutral contests.

Browns-Steelers

Associated Press

Steelers, winners of the last six, have taken control by
beating the Browns 20 times in 25 games since coach Bill Cowher took over in
1992. The Browns haven’t won successive games since Oct. 5-12, 2003, a span of 54 games. The Steelers
traditionally thrive at this time of year – since 2001, they are 21-5 in
regular-season games played on Dec. 1 or later. And it was this week a year ago
when they began the eight-game winning streak that carried them to their first
Super Bowl title in 26 years.

NBA

Suns-Nets

NY Times

The Nets, who have only one victory against a team above
.500, will have a chance to take a huge stride in the right direction Thursday
when they play host to the Phoenix Suns (10-6).
Seven of the Nets’ defeats have come against teams with a sub-.500
record. The Nets lost six in a row earlier in the season, and they broke the
skid with victories over two of their lowly Atlantic Division foes, the Boston
Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers.
Joe Duffy’s sports betting selections are at www.GodsTips.com

NY Sun

With Stoudemire back, some
observers began forecasting 70 wins for the Suns. Then the Suns began the
season by losing five of six, and cooler heads began to remind people that Stoudemire might take a couple of months to return to his
old form, which included a 26 points per game, 8.9 rebounds a game season in
2005 and Rookie of the Year honors in 2003. Since their sluggish start, the
Suns, who visit the Meadowlands tonight, have been on a tear. They’ve won nine
out of 10 and during the last two weeks.

CBB

Alabama-Notre Dame

Press Register

Fourth-ranked Alabama
will face the sternest test yet to its unblemished record tonight when it takes
on Notre Dame at the Joyce Center
in South Bend, Ind.
The Crimson Tide (7-0) tips off against the unranked Irish (6-1). Alabama
has more than its ranking to defend. Its pride took a
hit in last year’s game against the Irish, when Colin
Falls
nailed seven 3-pointers and
led Notre Dame to a 78-71 win at Coleman Coliseum. As was the case in last year’s
game, Tide point guard Ron Steele will not be 100 percent healthy. Steele’s
back was tightening up on him in the Irish upset last year, and this time
tendonitis in his right knee will affect his play. Notre Dame is coming off an
impressive 81-74 win over then-No. 23 Maryland
in Washington, D.C.,
and has a chance to make another big statement against the Tide. Alabama
has stumbled around a bit in sweeping its last three at home against subpar competition. Steele did not play in two of those
games, then was pushed to 35 minutes in last Saturday’s
78-60 win over Tennessee State.

Austin Peay-Morehead State

Leaf Chronicle

The Govs have won their last six over Morehead
State
. Austin Peay
views the entire weekend as a dangerous journey. After playing Morehead
State
, the Govs head down to play Eastern
Kentucky
on Saturday. They don’t call this part of the Ohio Valley
Conference swing a trip to “Death Valley” for nothing.
The Govs are riding high after knocking off a Tennessee Tech team that was
picked to finish third in the OVC, three spots higher
that Austin Peay. They snapped a three-game series
losing streak there. MasterLockLine.com has the top plays from the top
sports service in their highest ranked sports.

Eastern Illinois-Tennessee Tech

Journal Gazette

Yes, Tennessee Tech has beaten last season’s NCAA Sweet
16, Kansas-conquering Bradley. Yeah, the Golden Eagles beat the now 6-3 Bradley
team that won by 20 over a DePaul team that won by 30 over Eastern
Illinois
this season. But when it comes to the
earlier-than-ever-starting Ohio Valley Conference basketball race, Eastern and
Tech are dead even at 0-1. And when it comes to momentum, an EIU team predicted to finish ninth in the 11-team OVC might be running ahead of the No. 3 pick Eagles. While
the Panthers after a 53-50 near-upset loss to defending champion Murray State
used Mike Robinson’s last-second 40-footer to beat Arkansas State 73-70 on
Saturday, Tech was brought back down to earth from its conquest of Bradley when
it lost its OVC opener at Austin Peay
77-70. We see whether Tech, 3-3 for the season, has recharged with four days
without a game or is on a downward spiral. Having taken Tech into overtime last
season in a game that dropped the Panthers to 0-5 in a 6-21
season,
Eastern should have confidence in that it is considerably ahead
of last year’s pace. Joe Duffy’s sports betting selections are at www.GodsTips.com

Pepperdine-Long Beach State

Press Telegram

The Long Beach State
men’s basketball team will play its first home game in a day short of three weeks
tonight when the Pepperdine Waves visit the Walter
Pyramid for a 7:05 nonconference meeting. During the extended “road trip,” the
49ers (3-4) lost three times by an average margin of 24 points (to USC, UCLA
and Temple) before rallying Sunday to beat the University of Maryland-Baltimore
County, 57-53. Senior guard Kejuan Johnson missed
three games after his broken nose was set on Nov. 27 but is expected to return
to action tonight. The Waves, who were projected to finish seventh (among eight
teams) in the West Coast Conference by WCC head
coaches, improved to 2-6 Monday night with a 78-72 victory in Boulder against
the University of Colorado Buffaloes. Three of their losses have come to three
of Long Beach’s fellow Big West Conference members, Cal State Northridge
(95-92), UC Santa Barbara (89-80 in overtime) and UC Irvine (68-66), all played within a stretch of eight
days in late November. The Waves, who are scoring 79.6 points per game, are
playing with a roster that includes just eight scholarship players after
sophomores Mike Gerrity (a Mater Dei High graduate)
and Chris Oakes quit, and Jason Walberg (who transferred from Saint Mary’s to
play for his father as a senior) suffered torn knee ligaments last week.

Villanova-Oklahoma

Scout

The Wildcats, who beat Oklahoma
85-74 last year in
Philadelphia, lost a pair of starters (Randy Foye
and Kyle Lowry) to the NBA but are off to a 6-1 start this season, while the
Sooners are 4-2 and looking to protect the nation’s longest non-conference home
winning streak (49). Villanova holds wins over
Northwood University (97-60), College of Charleston (81-68), Iowa (89-60), Navy (70-61), Stony Brook (72-44) and Penn (99-89).
Their lone loss came against Xavier, 71-66, at the
Paradise.  Joe Duffy’s sports betting selections are at www.GodsTips.com

Norman Transcript

Oklahoma’s Lloyd
Noble Center

is a tough place to play for anyone not wearing white. It’s been nearly seven
years and 49 games since a non-Big 12 team walked off the Sooners’ home court
victorious. But hitting 50 will be a chore. To do it, OU
(4-2) must turn back Villanova (6-1). OU is still
shifting away from the team Taj Gray, Kevin Bookout and Terrell Everett led last season. The Wildcats
lost the backcourt trio of Kyle Lowry, Randy Foye and
Allen Ray from last year’s 28-5 squad. They combined for 63 points against the
Sooners. Ordinarily, losses like those will ensure a rebuilding season. But the
Wildcats are in a unique situation. Curtis Sumpter
was poised for an All-American season last year, but an early-season knee
injury kept him on the bench while the Wildcats ran to the Big East Conference
regular-season title and the NCAA Tournament’s Elite Eight. He’s back this
season and averaging 19.1 points and 5.0 rebounds a
game. MasterLockLine.com has the top plays from the top

Old Dominion-Virginia Tech

Hampton Roads

It’s cold and flu season, and the
Old Dominion Monarchs have discovered they are not immune. They took flu shots
in October to prepare for the grind of a college basketball season. But a virus
isn’t the flu. And a virus is spreading. Valdas Vasylius, who
scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in ODU’s
70-57 victory over James Madison on Saturday, hopped on the bus to Blacksburg
on Tuesday as the Monarchs headed for tonight’s game at Virginia Tech. There
were no promises he’d be playing tonight. Vasylius
sat out Monday’s practice, fighting a virus similar to the one that sidelined
Arnaud Dahi on Saturday. Senior
guard Drew Williamson walked out of Monday’s practice wearing a heavy coat and
wool hat. Williamson said the latest player to complain of symptoms was
7-foot-3 junior center Sam Harris. “It looks like it’s hitting the big men
first,” Williamson said. “Hopefully it won’t make it to the guards.” Stevie

Ball State-Butler

The Star Press

The Bulldogs have won four straight games at home against Ball
State
by an average margin of 14.5
points. Butler (9-0), which is
ranked No. 1 in the national RPI, has been on an
incredible roll early in the season. The Bulldogs vaulted into national
prominence by beating Tennessee
and Gonzaga in back-to-back games to win the Preseason NIT. The Bulldogs took
the court the day after their emotional win over Gonzaga and beat Kent
State
in a home game. Ball
State
swingman Chris Ames will play
his first game after having wires removed to hold his broken jaw in place. Approved sportsbooks are at www.linetrackers.com

Duquesne-Pittsburgh

Tribune-Review

No. 2 Pitt is among the deepest college basketball teams
in the nation. Duquesne is the one of the youngest, dressing only two healthy
players with Division I experience prior to this season. Panthers junior Mike
Cook has started nearly as many Division I games (47) as every healthy player
on the Duquesne active roster combined (51). The Dukes are down to eight
healthy scholarship players. Pitt is 24-3 against Duquesne in the past 27
meetings and has won by at least 11 points in each of the past five years, but
the games aren’t always lopsided. Here is the margin of victory in Pitt’s wins:
10 points or fewer – 9, 11-15 points – 7, 16-20 points – 4, 20 points or more –
4. Duquesne opened the season at 2-0 — after going
an all-time worst 3-24 last season under former coach Danny Nee—but has dropped
four in a row. The Dukes are coming off a 73-72 loss to Robert Morris in which
the Dukes blew a seven-point lead in the final
2:51.  Stevie Vincent’s BetOnSports360.com

Wisconsin Milwaukee-Missouri State

News Leader

After two straight NCAA Tournament appearances, the
Panthers are young and it’s showing. They fell to 2-7
with a Saturday loss to Oakland (Mich.)
University. So this fits the category of a classic trap game. Coach Barry
Hinson vows not to allow his team to fall into that trap. The Bears (6-1)
received the 30th-highest point total in last week’s AP rankings. Santa
Clara
coach Dick Davey
thinks Missouri State
is top-25 worthy. Wisconsin-Milwaukee has one of the nation’s youngest teams,
in terms of starting experience. The Panthers lost seven seniors from last
season’s NCAA Tournament team. Joe Duffy’s sports betting selections are at www.GodsTips.com  Paige Paulsen is the only player with previous
D-I starting experience and his nine games came two years ago while at Northern
Illinois
. Junior guard Avery Smith was a key substitute on last
season’s team. Smith is averaging a team-best 15 points and scored 36 in a
Saturday loss to Oakland (Mich.)
University.

Denver-Wyoming

Star Tribune

Denver is 1-7
and coming off a home loss to South Dakota
State
, while Wichita
State
is 6-0 and coming off a road
win at then-No. 14 Syracuse. But
to answer your question, no, the Wyoming
men’s basketball team is not looking past the Pioneers in anticipation of
Saturday’s game against the No. 10 Shockers. Those would seem to be wise words
and the right approach for the Cowboys (6-1), who,
despite having won three straight, were unable to put away Colorado School of
Mines and Montana State
until the later stages of the second half in their past two victories. McClain
said he isn’t concerned after his team’s slow starts in both games, pointing to
CSM’s and MSU’s ability to
live rather than die by the 3-pointer in the early stages against the Pokes. Denver
hasn’t held the lead when it matters most but once this season, a 74-68 win
over Northern Colorado. The Pioneers played Colorado
State
tough in an 81-73 loss at
home last week, but they are 0-3 on the road, including a 43-point loss at
Stanford.

Panthers-Eagles

Philadelphia Daily News

The Eagles have become more dink-and-dunk and less
big-play with Jeff Garcia under center. He’s got a .634 completion percentage
and has thrown just one interception since replacing Donovan McNabb, but he’s
also only averaging 4.6 yards per attempt. He needs to start making better use
of his wideouts. Jake Delhomme seems to have regressed since making the Pro
Bowl last year. Without a strong ground game to play off, his shortcomings have
been exacerbated. He’s got eight interceptions in the last six games and is
ranked 31st in the league in third-down passing with a .487
completion percentage.

NBA

Warriors-Spurs

Mercury News

The Spurs lost to the Warriors last week at Oracle Arena,
part of a stretch of three losses in four games for San
Antonio
, which rebounded Saturday with a 100-98 home
victory over Sacramento. But the
outcome hardly pleased Coach Gregg Popovich, who
described the performance as “pathetic.” Without G Manu Ginobili, who might
return tonight after missing four games because of a bruised lower back, the
Spurs have searched unsuccessfully for a third option behind F/C Tim Duncan and
G Tony Parker.

Median News

After playing 13 of their first 17 games
at home, the Warriors head into the grind of the schedule.
After their
second blown double-digit fourth-quarter lead, they head into a challenging
December slate with a two-game losing streak following Saturday’s 115-110 loss
to the Milwaukee Bucks at Oracle Arena. On Monday they play at San
Antonio
, where they’ve lost 17 straight, and on
Tuesday they get the Houston Rockets. Those are the first of 10 road games this
month, against contenders such as Phoenix, New
Jersey
, Orlando
and Miami.

Celtics-Bulls

Boston Herald

Ten Celtics went through practice here yesterday, but much
of the attention was on the three who didn’t.  Paul Pierce, Wally Szczerbiak
and Kendrick Perkins – starters all – were unable to go through the session.
The prognosis, however, is not as bad as appearances. Perkins (sore left foot)
is still on track to play tomorrow night against the Bulls, while Pierce
(bruised right elbow) will practice today and Szczerbiak
(sprained left ankle) reported that things had improved since he went down on
the last play of Friday’s loss in Toronto.  “I think Wally’s more doubtful than Paul, but
there’s a chance they both could play,” said Doc Rivers.     Szczerbiak was
able to walk off the floor after coming down improperly Friday. His motion was
better yesterday, and after watching the on-court portion of practice he went
to a separate area to lift weights with his teammates.

Marshall-Memphis

Herald-Dispatch

Last season Marshall
had the help of home-court advantage and a capacity crowd in Cam
Henderson Center

when the Thundering Herd threw a scare into Memphis,
losing 91-81, when the Tigers were ranked No. 3 and on their way to the
conference title and NCAA Elite Eight appearance. No such assistance this time
against a Memphis team considered
the class of C-USA once again. Memphis
has an average winning margin of 23 points after downing Manhattan
on Saturday, 77-59. But afterward coach John Calipari
noted inconsistency and a lack of emotion from his team. Memphis

Fairfield-Providence

Connecticut Post

Fairfield
snagged a 68-64 overtime victory against St. Francis (N.Y)
on Saturday for its second victory. Senior guard Michael Van Schaick scored 19 points to lead the Stags in scoring for
the third straight game. Over that stretch Van Schaick
is averaging 18.7 points. & After a strong start
defensively, the Stags have faltered somewhat, allowing each of the last three
opponents to shoot at least 46 percent from the field. This will be Fairfield’s
third game against a Big East opponent. The Stags have lost to UConn and Georgetown.
& The Friars, with only one senior in their starting lineup, have been an
early surprise. Providence is
coming off a 95-66 victory over Rhode Island
on Saturday and has also beaten Columbia,
George Washington, Boston College
and Fairleigh Dickinson. The lone loss came to Brown & Providence
is shooting 49 percent from the floor, but the team strength is rebounding the
Friars have outrebounded opponents by an average of
40-27.
