NFL Odds: Week 2 NFL Expert Picks Tip Sheet

It’s week 2 of the NFL primer—handicapping news and notes compiled by the sports handicappers at OffshoreInsiders.com.

Patriots vs. Jets

Just because Eric Mangini, the former Jets head coach is gone, it doesn’t mean the animus is. Jets S Kerry Rhodes said he wants to “embarrass” the Patriots. The Jets defense completely dominated Houston last week and gets DE Shaun Ellis back.

New England is off the short week following their MNF win, a dramatic comeback against Buffalo.

According to Bill Gould of ScoresOddsPicks.com one injury that many sports bettors will overlook is Patriots LB Jerod Mayo, who is out. “It’s one of the biggest losses in the league,” says the NFL expert.

Giants vs. Cowboys

The Cowboys may have a bigger than normal home field advantage with the opening of Cowboys Stadium. The biggest crowd in American sports history is expected.

New York has a mediocre secondary. Both Michael Johnson and Kenny Phillips are expected to play, with Phillips being the less likely of the two. Either way his knee is expected to be less than 100 percent.

If either it not able to go or leaves early, it means undrafted rookie Bruce Johnson is thrown into the fire.

Tony Romo is 4-0 straight up in the regular season to the Giants including three straight double digit wins. His QB rating in those three games range from 113.8 to 128.5.

Ravens vs. Chargers

San Diego superstar running back LaDainian Tomlinson is out. “When he walked off the field two years ago in the AFC Championship game, we say the end of L.T. as being one of the all-time greats,” says Bob Warner of the football betting blog Lines-Maker.com.

Speedy Darren Sproles gets the start. The bigger problem is that San Diego C Nick Hardwick is out and G Louis Vasquez is questionable. Also DT Jamal Williams is out for the Bolts. LB Shawne Merriman will be less than 100 percent.

Wise Guy plays from Joe Duffy’s GodsTips are widely accepted by high rollers, bookmakers, linesmakers, and fellow handicappers as the biggest play in the handicapping abyss. This is just fact.

Saints vs. Eagles

Eagles starting QB Donovan McNabb is doubtful. Kevin Kolb gets the start. Philly is still without two starting offensive linemen Stacy Andrews and Todd Herremans.

Panthers vs. Falcons

Carolina QB Jake Delhomme is coming off a five-turnover game and is facing a Falcons defense that forced four turnovers against the Dolphins.

Mike Godsey of GodsTips, anchor of OffshoreInsiders.com is considered the top NFL betting expert since Pete Axthelm. He says that Carolina will return to basics and run the ball heavily. As stated in the Vegas odds NFL injury report Jonathan Stewart is getting healthier, giving Carolina the 1-2 punch they had out of the backfield last year.

Rams vs. Redskins

Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo is quite familiar with the Redskins from his NFC East coaching days with both Philadelphia and the Giants. Washington is averaging just 13 points per game in their last eight contests.

Vikings vs. Lions

Detroit allowed 143 yards rushing to Saints backup Mike Bell, now they face the league’s best RB in Adrian Peterson. Detroit has lost 18 in a row straight up.

Buccaneers vs. Bills

Tampa‘s running game will take a hit as starting C Jeff Faine is out. Though Buffalo‘s offense was horrid in the preseason, they were affective against New England Monday night. Of course this means Buffalo is on a short week.

Seahawks vs. 49ers

Stevie Vincent, Senior Handicapper at OffshoreInsiders.com says that 49ers head coach Mike Singletary and offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye are committed to the run, a far cry from the Mike Martz days. Vincent also says the passing game behind Shaun Hill is based on efficiency, not the “home run” so it’s all ball control for the Niners.

Texans vs. Titans

The Titans have had 10 days rest. Houston is 0-4 straight up in Nashville and 1-6 their last seven. Hitting 77 percent all-time with NFL picks including Dallas over Tampa to open the season, for the first time ever, LateInfo has two picks in the same day including the Texans-Titans spread winner.

The LateInfo Line is now another part of OffshoreInsiders.  Formally part of the FreeScoreboard scorephone days, since 2001 LateInfo is 70-80 percent in each and every sport, broken down college and pro separately. The other winner is the Saints and Eagles. Click now to purchase the famed LateInfo.

Steelers vs. Bears

Pittsburgh has had 10 days to prepare and figure out how to improve a running game that averaged just 1.6 yards per carry. The Steelers though will be without Pro Bowl S Troy Polamalu. However they have the luxury of taking on a Chicago team with a rebuilt offense that looked horrid in week 1.

Pittsburgh is 16-4 straight up their last 20 to the NFC including two wins in the Super Bowl.

Bengals vs. Packers

“Disappointment” seems to be the Bengals new name during the Marvin Lewis era. Now they must emotionally rebound from the heart-rending loss to Denver last week. A fluky 87-yard touchdown by the Broncos handed Cincinnati a 12-7 defeat.

The Bengals are 0-4 straight up at Lambeau Field.

Cardinals vs. Jaguars

Arizona was 0-5 straight up in the regular season last year when traveling to the Eastern Time Zone.
