It does not get much better than this for baseball fans and MLB bettors alike. The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox square off on prime-time television. Jon Lester totes the hill for Boston, Andy Pettitte for the Yankees. The Vegas baseball odds have Pettitte laying -117 with a total at 9.5.

It’s an understatement to say that the Yankees have turned the series around. After Boston won the first eight series meeting this year, the Bronx Bombers have won the first three games of this four-game set. They’ve now won six straight overall.

On the other hand, Boston has lost five in a row. They have gone 24 innings without a hit and are 3-for-33 in this series with men in scoring position.

Lester has been the mark of consistency with a 3.79 ERA for the year and a 1.293 WHIP. Andy Pettitte is quite hot. In his last four starts his ERA is 2.36 with a WHIP of 1.087.

The Yankees have lost 4-of-5 to Lester, while Boston is 9-19 their last 28 to Andy Pettitte.

Other key records: Boston has dropped a frightening 11-of-12 against teams with a winning record. However they are a very impressive 45-14 with Jon Lester on grass.

The Yankees have dropped 7-of-9 Pettitte home starts as a favorite.

The Blue Jays Roy Halladay is a sensational 19-4 lifetime to the Orioles with a 2.92 ERA.

The Rockies Ryan Dempster has a team mark of 1-10 on the road this year for -10.2 units.

The Giants are 19-5 for the year +16.5 units against a starting pitcher who walks 1.75 or fewer batters per game.

The Cubs Randy Wells has won three straight with a 1.69 ERA.
