Bodog Brings NFL Preseason Picks Previews

Reports are that the Buffalo Bills are about to sign Mike Vick. X-games fans mourn the death of skateboarding pioneer Andy Kessler, Rick Pitino girlfriend, Karen Sypher pictures are popping up all over the internet.

Not only is Bodog the source for PGA Championship live stream tour odds from Hazeltine National Golf Club, they have the ultimate betting previews whether the game appears on the NFL preseason TV schedule or not. It’s also the anniversary of race car driver Tim Richmond’s death.

In Hollywood entertainment news, Les Paul, the legendary guitarist and inventor has died at age 94. He has a series of hits in the 1950s with his wife Mary Ford.

Actor John Quade has also died at age 71.

Sports bettors already have the betting previews free for the Steelers-Cardinals, Eagles-Patriots, Cowboys-Raiders, Redskins-Ravens.

But it is information overload as gamblers get the Bodog version of the preseason primer.

Football is back in Dallas, but the Cowboys will start the 2009 season without one of their main weapons on offense.

Terrell Owens, of course, was released by the Cowboys in the offseason and picked up by the Buffalo Bills.

The Cowboys will play their first game of the preseason on the road vs. the Oakland Raiders, and Bodog has made Tony Romo and the Cowboys a 1-point road underdog on Thursday.

The Raiders will be keeping a close watch on their QB battle between Bruce Gradkowski and  Charlie Frye. Frye probably has the upper hand, but with Jeff Garcia scheduled to return soon from injury one of these two with NFL experience could find their reps dramatically reduced.

For the Cowboys, Roy Williams is starting to get on the same page with Romo. Williams is in the best shape of his career, but don’t expect him to fully fill Owens’ shoes.

The Arizona Cardinals came close to winning the Super Bowl last season vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, they will get a chance to seek their revenge in Week 1 of the NFL preseason, as they meet the Steelers at Heinz Field.

Bodog has the line set at -3 for the Super Bowl champions as Thursday’s game approaches.

Of course some key players will be missing from this matchup – it will be all about the second string squads. This game means very little to the Steelers since no matter what happens, they are still the uncontested Super Bowl champs until the next big game.

Now that the Cards have released RB Edgerrin James and lost DE Antonio Smith to free agency, it will be interesting to see first-round draft pick Beanie Wells splits RB duties with second-year back Tim Hightower.

Can the Cards get some form of payback on Thursday?

How about a neighborly affair between the Washington Redskins and the Baltimore Ravens to kick off a Thursday night of preseason football?

The 3-point favored Ravens are coming off an 11-5 season in which they made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game. The team did lose defensive coordinator Rex Ryan as he left to take the top spot with the Jets, as well as two defensive starters in Bart Scott and Jim Leonhard.

The Redskins have some choices to make at quarterback during the exhibition season. Jason Campbell is the clear-cut starter, but there is a battle for the third-string spot between Colt Brennan and rookie Chase Daniel. If the coaching staff likes what they see out of the two youngsters, it may be veteran quarterback Todd Collins who gets cut.

Thursday’s game is scheduled to get underway at 7:30pm ET at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

Thursday’s meeting between the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles won’t be the game it could be just because Tom Brady will only be throwing a few sets.

Although it won’t be a lengthy showing, New England fans will just be happy to see Brady back under center.

The Eagles have been hurt by training-camp injuries, most recently to Kevin Kolb, who figured to get a lot of action in this game as he’s been tabbed as the backup to starting QB Donovan McNabb. This means more time for A.J. Feeley, a very experienced quarterback.

The 3-point underdog Patriots never really put too much stock in preseason games, while the Eagles will be taking it a little more seriously being at home. There shouldn’t be much scoring on Thursday as these two have solid defenses.

If you actually put any stock in trends during preseason, the Patriots have won two straight in Philly.

MLB Betting – Red Sox, Rangers Kick Off Wild-Card Duel On Friday

MLB betting players have seen Boston go on a bit of a slump lately, but as of Thursday, they still had a half-game lead over Texas for the wild-card spot in the American League. The two begin a three-game set at The Ballpark in Texas, where the Red Sox were swept earlier this year.

Red Sox vs Rangers Odds – Friday, August 14, 8:05 PM ET

Jon Lester (9-7, 3.67) has given up two runs in his last 13 innings, which spans two starts, but since the Red Sox scored only four runs in those outings, he was stuck with a pair of no-decisions. He also has been taken deep three times in his last 10 starts, which is an important stat heading into The Ballpark. The 25-year-old southpaw is 2-0 in four career starts against the Rangers with a 3.33 ERA, and if he can maintain that level of play, the Red Sox’ World Series odds may jump a bit this weekend.

Kevin Millwood (9-7, 3.38) gave up a pair of runs on six hits over six innings of a 6-3 win over the Red Sox three weeks ago, bumping his career numbers against them to 6-4 in 14 starts with a 3.99 ERA. However, betting software may not have that much faith in him, as Boston has hit .265 off Millwood in those 14 outings, so he‘ll need run support. At The Ballpark, the 34-year-old righty has been a beast in 2009, going 7-1 in 11 starts with a 2.49 ERA, which may be enough to give him the edge if you’re betting online.

Baseball lines should favor Texas at home, and they can take the wild-card lead with a good series this weekend. There shouldn’t be too many runs scored as Lester and Millwood are both pitching well as of late. However, the veteran Millwood has been out of his mind at The Ballpark, and the Rangers are playing with a sense of urgency, while the Red Sox, despite a great home series against Detroit, have lost their last six games away from Fenway Park. The Rangers are definitely a good pick if you’re betting online on Friday.

Cardinals-Steelers ESPN Betting Odds

It’s the Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers on ESPN. The home team Steelers are -3 with a total of 33, though 5 Dimes has a -2.5 -120 option for bettors. This is of course the Super Bowl rematch and will be televised on ESPN. .

Arizona prized rookie Chris “Beanie” Wells is doubtful though he is getting close to full activity in practice. This leaves Arizona thin at RB with just four healthy players.

The Cardinals will also be extra careful with Anquan Boldin as he will likely not play because of minor swelling in his knees.

Pittsburgh RB Willie Parker is also doubtful and second year player Rashard Mendenhall will get a lot of playing time. Mendenhall is recovering from missing most of last year following an injury. He led them in preseason rushing last year with 222 yards and 4.1 yards per carry.

Sirius NFL Radio is serious NFL radio to the sports bettors. Pittsburgh head man Mike Tomlin was just quoted on said station as saying he will await until the 11th hour to decide on playing time. Get Sirius/XM Radio, game tickets, FatHeads and more in the Guy Store.

Of course Lines-Maker.com will monitor breaking betting news until the 11th hour as well.

However, Cy McCormick of power of 620 sports services behind every selection, the MasterLockLine, which has the top plays from the top sports services in their highest ranked sports said that Ben Roethlisberger will play a couple of series followed by veteran backup Charlie Batch, Dennis Dixon, and Mike Reilly.

McCormick is the top betting expert in unpublished information.

Dixon‘s speed will be affective against third stringers says Bob Warner of Lines-Maker.com, the NFL betting blog.

Arizona‘s quarterbacks, after Kurt Warner makes a brief appearance, will be highly motivated. Matt Leinart must prove he’s not an all-time bust as he is fighting former Steeler Brian St. Pierre and former Pitt Panther Tyler Palko for the backup job. Another former Panther Larry Fitzgerald returns to Pittsburgh for the Cardinals.

Vegas Insider Previews NFL Betting Eagles-Patriots

As the NFL world expresses shock over the fact that Dante’ Stallworth is suspended for the entire NFL season, NFL handicappers are focusing on the here and now, assuring betting picks don’t fall below the Vegas betting version of the Mendoza Line.

The PGA Championship golf odds and Tiger Woods took center stage, this morning, but tonight NFL preseason betting goes into full swing.

“Will Tom Brady play and how long?” seems to be the burning question for NFL bettors entering tonight’s Eagles-Patriots game. The sportsbook Vegas odds have the Philadelphia Eagles -3 with a total of 31.

Eagles backup QB Kevin Kolb and former Pro Bowl DE Trent Cole will both miss Thursday’s game. The Eagles already lost starting MLB Stewart Bradley and rookie TE Cornelius Ingram for the year. Kolb likely was counted on for a lot of snaps Thursday.

For the official betting preview of the Redskins-Ravens, check out everything bettors need to know on that game.

Philadelphia will likely be without their best OL Shawn Andrews who has missed a lot of practice time because of a bad back.

Though Pats head coach Bill Belichick has been his usual secretive self, starting QB Tom Brady believes he will get more than “a guest appearance.” Recovering from a season ending injury, Brady has not missed any practice time.

Eagles starters will play about a quarter. Because of the Kolb injury, A.J. Feeley will play most of the rest of the contest at QB after Donovan McNabb exits, probably into the second quarter. Adam DiMichele, a local kid from Temple, was just signed as the No. 1 signal caller for tonight.

The Boston Globe reports that Bill Belichick will be motivated to win thanks to last year’s 0-4 straight up preseason. He in fact showed his players game film of the NFLX 24-3 loss last season when these teams met.

That was enough motivation for all of us,” Brady said. Late breaking injury and player rotations will be posted at Lines-Maker.com as stringers report from pregame shows and beat writer bloggers.

Top expert pick on this game: The top NFL handicapper of all-time, Grandmaster sports handicapper Joe Duffy has both the side and total on tonight’s contest among four NFL preseason picks at OffshoreInsiders.com.

Doing battle on the gridiron . . .

Week 1 of the NFL’s preseason schedule gets going on Thursday night, with Washington at Baltimore (-3), Dallas at Oakland (-2), Arizona at Pittsburgh (-3), and New England at Philadelphia (-3). With top players only expected to be on the field sparingly this early in the exhibition slate it’ll be mostly second and third stringers deciding the outcomes. For the Pats, though, it should mean a (brief) return to action for Tom Brady as he completes his recovery from knee surgery.

Check out previews of all the games. Start out with the Ravens and Redskins betting outlook, then keep a close eye on the free pick and articles section for betting 411 on the remaining games. Also Lines-Maker.com will post breaking NFL injuries and likely definitively answer the question of how long is Tom Brady going to play.

Among other sources, the stringers monitor 98.5 Boston Sports Hub, WEEI radio, WPEN ESPN radio, and 610 WIP for any breaking information.

Colliding in the Junior Circuit  . . .

There are just four games on the American League schedule for Thursday, with Texas at Cleveland, Kansas City at Minnesota, the Yankees at Seattle, and Detroit at Boston. Justin Verlander (12-6, 3.45 ERA) is slated to start for the Tigers on Thursday; the righthander lost to the Twins last time out, allowing five runs in six innings. Clay Buchholz (1-2, 5.33 ERA) gets the ball for the BoSox; the righthander fell to the Yankees last time out, allowing two runs in six innings.

Clashing in the Senior Circuit . . .

The NL offers up five games on Thursday, with San Diego at Milwaukee, Pittsburgh at Colorado, Washington at Cincinnati, Houston at Florida, and Philadelphia at the Cubs. Cliff Lee (2-0, 1.13 ERA in the NL) will be gunning for his sixth straight win overall; the lefthander has given up two runs over his 16 innings with the Phillies. The Cubs will counter with Ryan Dempster (6-5, 4.04 ERA), who beat the Rockies last time out despite allowing five runs in six innings. Shane Victorino will seek revenge from having beer thrown on him by some Wrigley nutcase.

The total for the Western Division clash is sitting at 59.5 points.

Finally, there are four games on the WNBA’s schedule for Thursday, with Seattle at Connecticut, Detroit at Atlanta, San Antonio at Phoenix, and Indiana at Minnesota. The league-leading Fever will be looking to bounce back from a rare loss, as they fell 75-63 to Los Angeles last time out. Katie Douglas had a team-high 16 points in that defeat for Indiana, which is 17-5 SU and 14-8 ATS so far on the season. Minnesota sits at 11-11 SU and also ATS in their 22 games this year.
