As the old adage goes in football: If you have two quarterbacks, you don’t really have one.
After Baker Mayfield was traded to the Panthers for basically a sack of balls today, most sportsbooks gave Carolina better Super Bowl, NFC and division chances. But one pivoted the other way.
SportsBetting worsened the Panthers’ futures odds across the board.
“Baker Mayfield doesn’t move the needle in our eyes,” Robert Cooper, head of NFL trading at the sportsbook, said. “They have different styles, and I could begrudgingly argue Mayfield is a tiny bit better than Darnold, but at the end of the day they are both below-average NFL players.
“I expect Rhule to make this an open quarterback competition in camp. They didn’t give up much, and they’re basically being paid the same salary. Rhule could initially end up going with the QB he coached for a season…a guy he and his receivers are comfortable with. Either way, adding Mayfield only creates more headache and drama off the field. He certainly doesn’t make this a better team.”
SportsBetting.ag adjusted its futures odds in this manner:
Panthers before Mayfield trade
Super Bowl: 125-1
NFC: 50-1
NFC South: 10-1
Panthers after Mayfield trade
Super Bowl: 130-1
NFC: 60-1
NFC South: 11-1
Additionally, there is a prop bet for who will be the starter when the regular season begins.
Tom Brady is apparently un-retiring, which changes the entire landscape of the upcoming NFL season.
SportsBetting adjusted its Super Bowl, conference, division and MVP odds after today’s news. Here’s how the Bucs odds were impacted:
Super Bowl: 28-1 to 8-1 NFC: 14-1 to 7-2 Division: +150 to -215
NFC South Tampa Bay Buccaneers -215 New Orleans Saints +450 Atlanta Falcons +500 Carolina Panthers +700
Super Bowl Top 10
Buffalo Bills 7-1 Green Bay Packers 15-2 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 8-1 Kansas City Chiefs 9-1 Los Angeles Rams 12-1 San Francisco 49ers 14-1 Denver Broncos 14-1 Dallas Cowboys 16-1 Baltimore Ravens 20-1 Los Angeles Chargers 22-1 Tennessee Titans 22-1
MVP Top 10
Josh Allen 7-1 Patrick Mahomes 8-1 Aaron Rodgers 9-1 Tom Brady 10-1 Matthew Stafford 11-1 Joe Burrow 12-1 Dak Prescott 12-1 Justin Herbert 12-1 Kyler Murray 13-1 Russell Wilson 15-1
After this past season’s NFL championship game, a 7-10 Broncos team was given quite conservative odds for Super Bowl LVII.
Just over a month ago, SportsBetting gave Denver 20-1 odds to hoist the Lombardi Trophy next season. The odds, which were better than the Bucs, Titans, Chargers, Cardinals, Colts, Patriots, Ravens and Packers, were that low in large part due to the distinct possibility that Aaron Rodgers could be traded to the Broncos.
During the next few weeks, when the Rodgers rumors continued but were never concrete, Denver’s odds escalated to 25-1. And then today’s trade, which sent Russell Wilson to the Broncos for players and a ton of draft capital, significantly impacted the Super Bowl odds.
After the Wilson deal, the Broncos went from 25-1 to 14-1 at sportsbooks.
“This was a 7-10 team last year with essentially a stump at quarterback,” MaximBet head trader Lenny Estrin said. “Now, you’re putting one of the best signal callers in the game on that roster with an incredibly talented defense…the AFC West may now be as good as the NFC West. I don’t think anyone is expecting the Broncos to be Super Bowl champs next year, but with Wilson they are now legit contenders.”
Speaking of division odds, the Broncos went from having the third-worst odds at 5-1 to win the West to now the second-best odds behind Kansas City.
The Broncos are also third on the AFC odds board, vaulting up from the eighth spot.
AFC West
Kansas City Chiefs +110
Denver Broncos +250
Los Angeles Chargers +350
Las Vegas Raiders +1000
Broncos finishing position in AFC West
2nd +100
3rd +125
1st +250
4th +400
Additionally, Russell Wilson’s MVP odds improved, going from 25-1 in Seattle to 15-1 in Denver.
With one more NFL championship in the books, it’s time to look ahead to next season’s Super Bowl odds.
SportsBetting released title odds following Sunday’s game, and the two teams most perceive as the league’s best, now that Tom Brady has retired, top the list.
The Rams, who will be defending their title, come in third with +1000 odds while the Bengals are fourth on the board at +1200.
Two fabled NFC franchises, the Cowboys and Niners, round out the Top 5, respectively.
This odds will be updated throughout the offseason as the quarterbacks carousel (controversies) gets rolling at SportsBetting
The Rams vs. Bengals Super Bowl LVI gets underway after 6:30 ET. The current line at MyBookie has the Rams -4 with a total of 48.5. At Bovada the moneyline is -185, obviously with Los Angeles as the chalk. The openers at Betonline, the home of the opening line saw LA -3.5 and 49.5, laying -190 to win outright.
Currently 58 percent of bets and 74 percent of money is on the Rams to cover. Though the public generally prefers favorites, they often tend to bet underdogs in postseason. However, with “everyone” betting on the Super Bowl, the chalk is generally the public play.
Dichotomous splits are on the total with 66 percent of bets on the over, yet 68 percent of cash on the under. The moneyline sees 72 and 61 percent on the Rams. Sizzling and super talented NFL betting legend Joe Duffy has easily the strongest bet on the side, Stevie Vincent on the total, plus tons of prop bets at OffshoreInsiders.com
We’re still a few weeks away from Super Bowl LVI, but early odds for the game’s MVP are already available.
The Packers and Chiefs are favored to meet in the Super Bowl, so it only makes sense that the teams’ respective signal callers carry the lowest odds to take home the MVP honor.
SportsBetting has five quarterbacks listed at the top, then the first non-QB is Derrick Henry, who hasn’t played a snap in months.
Here are the latest Super Bowl MVP odds:

One bookmaker in the U.S. is more bullish on the Chiefs than the Bucs.
MaximBet, part of SportsBetting is the only sportsbook on the planet that has the Chiefs favored for Super Bowl LVI. Every other market lists the Bucs first and Kansas City second.
“We took a lot of sharp action on the Chiefs when they were struggling at the start of the season and had odds as high as 13-1,” Lenny Estrin, head of MaximBet, a division of SportsBetting trading said. “The Chiefs are our largest liability at this point, and they’re absolutely humming with the defense showing signs of life so they are at the top of our futures board, for now.”
Also below you can find odds for the No. 1 overall pick in this summer’s NFL Draft. Kayvon Thibodeaux is the odds-on favorite at -130.

Did everyone forget that Bill Belichick is the greatest NFL coach of all time?
If so, the latest Super Bowl LVI odds provide a reminder that the “Hooded One” is still roaming the sidelines at Foxboro.
SportsBettingreleased updated title numbers Monday morning. New England has the ninth-best odds on the board (12-1) and the fourth-best odds in the AFC.
The Pats had 35-1 odds after a Week 1 loss to Miami. Their odds climbed to as high as 80-1 on October 18 following a loss to the Cowboys that left them with a 2-4 record.
Now, rolling on a four-game victory streak, Belichick and the boys are contenders once again.
The Chiefs also saw a bump in their Super Bowl chances after Sunday night’s throttling of the Raiders. Kansas City’s championship odds were as high as 15-1 two weeks ago, but they have basically been cut in half.
Below you can find the updated Super Bowl and conference odds from SportsBetting.
