Sportsbook Odds on CFP Rankings, Next Coach at FSU

The latest college football polls from writers and coaches are out, but the only one that matters this week won’t be revealed until Tuesday night.

The first CFP rankings of the season will be announced tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN, and one sportsbook has tried to project where the committee will place certain teams.

SportsBetting has odds for which teams will occupy each of the top four CFP spots. It also has over/under ranking positions for one-loss teams like Penn State, Georgia, Oregon, Oklahoma and Utah as well as unbeaten teams in Minnesota and Baylor.

Keep in mind, the oddsmakers don’t always get it right, but neither does the committee. And if you compare the updated national championship odds (below) to the rankings, it’s apparent that the bookmakers are trying to put themselves in the minds of the CFP committee because the top teams don’t match up.

The site also has odds for Florida State’s next head coach, following the abrupt firing of Willie Taggert on Sunday. Iowa State’s Matt Campbell has the lowest odds, and there are two Stoops on the list.

Current odds from SportsBetting (subject to change):

Thursday Night Football Betting Info San Fran-Arizona, Plus College Football

Thursday night football betting has the San Francisco 49ers versus Arizona Cardinals.

There are a bunch of great reasons to back the Niners in this contest. First, Frisco has answered the bell in every game this season. Then, there’s the fact that San Francisco ranks a stellar third in scoring (29.6 ppg) and even more impressive second in points allowed (11.0 ppg). Another good reason to back the Niners is because Arizona is a rebuilding franchise with a rookie quarterback and first-time NFL head coach.

Astros Set as 2020 World Series Favorites

No matter what happens in tonight’s game, the oddsmakers have already tabbed the Astros as the team to beat in 2020.

That’s right, before this Fall Classic is even decided, SportsBetting has set odds to capture next year’s baseball crown. The usual suspects sit atop the odds board, and this marks the third straight year the Astros have opened with the lowest odds.

The Nationals are tied with New York for the second-best odds at 8/1 while the Dodgers and Red Sox come in at 12/1.

The other D.C.-area team, the Orioles, have the longest Series odds at 250/1.
