Meeting up on the diamond . . .

The American League schedule for Saturday has Baltimore at Toronto, Texas at Oakland, Boston at the Yankees, Minnesota at Detroit, Kansas City at Cleveland, the White Sox at the Angels, and Seattle at Tampa Bay. Doug Fister (6-12, 3.83 ERA) is expected to get the ball for the Mariners in that last contest, while Matt Garza (14-9, 4.01 ERA) is slated to pitch for the Rays. Righthander Fister dazzled the Rangers in his most recent trip to the mound, surrendering just one run on nine hits over his seven innings of work in a win. Righthander Garza will be looking to bounce back from a loss to the Yankees in which he gave up seven runs (five earned) in his five innings pitched.

Over in the National League on Saturday it’s then St. Louis at the Cubs, Atlanta at Washington, Cincinnati at San Diego, Houston at Pittsburgh, the Mets at Philadelphia, Florida at Milwaukee, the Dodgers at Arizona, and San Francisco at Colorado. Barry Zito (9-13, 3.98 ERA) takes the hill for the Giants on Saturday, while the Rockies are expected to counter with Jason Hammel (10-8, 4.56 ERA). Lefthander Zito snapped a seven-game losing streak in his most recent start, holding the Brewers to two runs on three hits over his six innings pitched. Righthander Hammel last pitched against the Dodgers on September 19, allowing four runs on six hits over four innings in that game.

Sports Picks: Alabama vs. Auburn, Oregon State vs. Boise State, South Carolina vs. Auburn

Alabama vs. Auburn, Oregon State vs. Boise State, South Carolina vs. Auburn are all big NCAA football picks and the top offshore sportsbook takes a betting look.

Bodog says that easily the game of the day Saturday in college football is in Fayetteville in one of the Arkansas program’s biggest games ever as the No. 10 Hogs host defending national champion and top-ranked Alabama. The Tide are 7.5-point favorites on Bodog’s NCAA Football Odds and there is live betting available.

This game marks the first time two Top-10 teams have met in Fayetteville since 1979 and it’s the start of an incredibly brutal stretch for the Tide, with games against current Top 12 teams Florida and South Carolina to follow. But first things first, and that’s dealing with Arkansas QB Ryan Mallett, who would probably jump into the Heisman lead with a big game. And Mallett no doubt wants to make amends for last year’s 35-7 loss to Alabama in which he entered leading the nation in passing efficiency but went just 12-for-35 for 160 yards, one touchdown and one interception. This season Mallett enters third in passer rating and leads the country with 1,081 yards through the air. However, the Alabama defense ranks second in the nation in pass-efficiency defense, although the Tide really haven’t played anyone yet – obviously Penn State is solid but the Nittany Lions started a true freshman QB.

While Alabama’s defense still might be a bit of a question mark in replacing nine starters from last year, the offense has been clicking. The Tide are fourth nationally in total offense, ninth in scoring offense and have produced 24 plays of 20 yards or longer, which is tops in the nation. And reigning Heisman winner Mark Ingram is healthy, as he showed by rushing for 151 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries last week against Duke in his season debut. The Hogs’ defense is 10th nationally and appears leaps and bounds better than last year’s unit.

Arkansas is 4-11 all-time against the nation’s top-ranked team, but two of those wins have come against an SEC team in Fayetteville, where Alabama is just 3-4 all-time.

Top expert pick on this game:  A 2-0 Friday sweep with the 300,000* Dodgers and the 200,000* Giants as I’m now on a 9-4 run which has now netted 1.5 million* of profit this week! I have three phenomenal college football winners today but that is the smallest part of this day for me. I am releasing early and for a reason, yes for a reason, the Sunday night game between the Jets and Dolphins because of how this line is going to move. I can sense it and know what’s going to happen so I implore you to get this monster 500,000* lock before you lose out. I truly do not think I have ever been in love with an NFL game the way I am in love with this one from South Beach.

500,000* New York-Miami plus a trio of college locks. 300,000* Oklahoma-Cincinnati, 200,000* Alabama-Arkansas and Oregon-Arizona State. Come and get it or be pissed at yourself tomorrow that you didn’t! Get Matt Rivers entire card now

Now one of the few sportsbooks to get the most prestigious honor of the all, “Sportsbook of the Year” by OffshoreInsiders.com takes a look at today’s top betting action.

Also sharing spotlight during the afternoon Saturday, South Carolina and Auburn meet in an equally important conference game between ranked foes on Saturday night. What a day for football fans in Alabama! Auburn is a 3-point favorite on Bodog’s NCAA odds for this one and there will be live betting available.

This game features three of the most exciting first-year players in the country in South Carolina freshman running back Marcus Lattimore and Auburn quarterback Cameron Newton and freshman running back Michael Dyer.

Lattimore, a true freshman who was arguably the top recruit in the country this past spring, has carried 77 times for 333 yards and five touchdowns so far. His 111.0 yards per game average ranks second in the SEC. Lattimore wasn’t even the starter in Week 1 but then stamped himself a future superstar by carrying the ball 37 times for 182 yards and two touchdowns against Georgia two weeks ago. QB Stephen Garcia has also been good, completing more than 68 percent of his passes for 508 yards and is second on the team with 68 yards rushing with two TDs. But Garcia is 1-6 away from home as a starter in his career.

Newton is a former backup to Tim Tebow who then went to junior college before transferring to Auburn. He ranks fourth in the country in passer rating and is fifth in the SEC in rushing at 103 yards per game. Dyer, a true freshman himself and also a top recruit this past spring, has rushed for 202 yards and is averaging 5.4 yards per carry. Auburn leads the SEC in rushing while South Carolina is No. 1 against the run.

These two schools have only met nine times and South Carolina has just one victory. They have played just four times since the Gamecocks joined the SEC and Auburn is 4-0. This is the first matchup between the two when both are ranked – and Auburn has proven tough to beat in home night games against ranked opponents, with the Tigers going 4-1 in the past five.

Unfortunately for Boise State, it not only has to win out to possibly play in a national championship game, it has to win out and be impressive doing it. And that goes double for Saturday night’s game against Oregon State because the Beavers are the last ranked and BCS conference team left on Boise’s schedule. The Broncos are 18-point favorites on Bodog’s NCAA odds.

Oregon State has already flunked one test against a non-BCS conference powerhouse as it was beaten 30-21 by TCU in the opener. Thus a win tonight would actually help Boise just by dinging TCU’s strength of schedule because the Frogs have national title hopes as well. To prepare for the infamous blue turf, Oregon State actually painted its practice field blue this week.

Boise State is 26-0 at home under coach Chris Petersen, it has beaten the Beavers the last two times they visited Boise and it hasn’t lost a regular-season game since 2007. The Broncos are 4-0 against ranked BCS teams under Petersen and have actually won 56 straight regular-season games at home. QB Kellen Moore, a leading Heisman contender, is a stupid 28-1 in his career. Oregon State’s pass defense hasn’t been good this year and the Beavers are awful at sacking the QB (two sacks so far this year).

It’s probably not wise to expect much from Oregon State quarterback Ryan Katz as he makes his first true road start (that TCU game was at a neutral site). Katz has been good at not turning the ball over but is completing just 47.1 percent of his passes and hasn’t topped 159 yards in his two starts. Thus the Beavers will rely heavily on Heisman Trophy candidate Jacquizz Rodgers, who ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns last week in a win over Louisville. TCU held him pretty well in check with 75 yards rushing. OSU has won 20 of its past 22 when a player runs for 100 yards. However, Boise State is No. 2 in the nation against the run, allowing just 53.5 yards per game and 1.49 yards per carry.

Free Football Tips: South Carolina vs. Auburn SEC TV Schedule

There is a big free NCAA football pick on ESPN tonight.

Frank Mir (13-5) vs Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic (28-7-2) and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (19-3) vs Ryan Bader (11-0) are big UFC picks and predictions from ScoresOddsPicks of OffshoreInsiders.com, but first there are some big football picks.

No. 12 South Carolina at No. 17 Auburn (-3) – Saturday at 7:45 p.m. ET on ESPN

South Carolina has been outstanding this season, winning its first three games and going perfect against the spread (2-0 ATS). To a large extent, though, the Gamecocks remain unscathed in spite of their quarterback, Stephen Garcia. The junior excelled in the season opener against Southern Mississippi but has been rather average since then; that won’t cut it against a top squad like Auburn. The defense looked a little shaky against Furman, allowing some big plays through the air, but it did record seven sacks.

Auburn (3-0, 1-2 ATS) has won its last two games by a combined six points. Worse yet, the Tigers failed to score a single point in the fourth quarters of either of those match ups. Running quarterback Cameron Newton is expected to get more opportunities to throw the ball this week (he has just 28 pass attempts in the last two games). On the other side of the football, the Tigers have been surprisingly competent.

Despite being undefeated, neither team inspires a ton of confidence. This will likely come down to who makes the fewest mistakes. Considering how Garcia has played so far, it won’t be South Carolina. Bet on Auburn against the NCAA point spread

Free NCAA Football Picks: Alabama vs. Arkansas

Free college football picks galore are on today’s card from ScoresOddsPicks, the world’s winning inexpensive sports service.

No. 1 Alabama (-7) at No. 10 Arkansas – Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS

Are the Razorbacks (3-0, 1-1 ATS) for real? They sure look like it. Arkansas is coming off an impressive 31-24 victory in Georgia. Ryan Mallet racked up some brilliant Heisman-worthy highlights; he tossed three touchdown passes, including a 40-yard game winner with 15 seconds remaining. Surprisingly, the defense has been just as good. Expected to be an Achilles’ heel in 2010, the “D” has arguably been the best in the SEC. Arkansas has come up with big play after big play, particularly when it comes to rushing the passer (the Razorbacks lead the SEC in sacks per game at 4.0).

Alabama looks like a runaway freight train. Some fans were worried when it was announced Heisman winner Mark Ingram would miss the first few games of the season. The Tide simply plugged in more talent and continued thrashing opponents on the ground. Ingram made his 2010 debut last week and ripped off a 48 yard run on his first carry; he finished with 151 yards and two touchdowns on just nine carries, proving he’s in mid-season form. On the other side of the ball, Bama needs to tighten up against the run after allowing some lackluster competition a little breathing room.

Thankfully for Crimson Tide fans, Arkansas’ bread and butter is the pass. The Razorbacks are about to run into a buzzsaw; Bama crushed them 35-7 last year and 49-14 the year before. Arkansas wasn’t supposed to be this good on defense, and now we’ll find out if it’s legit. Until we do, you’re safer picking Alabama to continue its dominance.

College Football Free Picks Versus Spread

Looking for college football picks free? While “Lazy” Oscar Dooley simply parrots football newsletters and “tip sheet mania,” Matt Rivers is churning out winners.

His NCAA point spread pick for Saturday is on Boston College getting four points at home to Virginia Tech. He is what Matteo says:

The Eagles certainly aren’t a team that is anything better than decent but I’m really not that sure what the Hokies are right now. Ryan Williams was just injured in that game against East Carolina and should miss today and so far after three games Va. Tech hasn’t been all that impressive. Frank Beamer’s squad did come back for the win and cover last week against the Pirates after losing outright by double digits early on but I have a feeling that Tech still hasn’t fully found themselves even with that better second half.

Boston College in Chestnut Hill never really seems to blow out opponents and never really seems to get blown out. The Eagles struggled a bit at times with two inferior foes in Weber State and Kent State but that is how this program is. They are not a high-powered offense that can just go out and blow the doors off of teams. After having two weeks off to prepare and being at home should be more than enough here against Tyrod Taylor and the still struggling and somewhat inexperienced Hokies.

Tech’s defense is young and after being pretty much at home for the first three games is going to finally travel and have a learning curve. In the opener at Fedex Field against Boise State you can see a little starry eyed play in the first half from these kids. And then at the end they let Kellen Moore win the game. Beamer’s defense right now does not look to be nearly as strong as in season’s past and after losing to James Madison and not being all that impressive thus far 25% into the season why not back this solid enough ACC home dog?

For more information: Matt has for Saturday:  A 2-0 Friday sweep with the 300,000* Dodgers and the 200,000* Giants as I’m now on a 9-4 run which has now netted 1.5 million* of profit this week!
