Golf Odds: President’s Cup

The 2022 Presidents Cup will take place later this month at Quail Hollow in Charlotte.

The PGA Tour won’t allow LIV participants to compete, which has created some havoc around the team selection process.

The U.S. Team is stacked as Patrick Cantlay, Sam Burns, Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and Tony Finau have already qualified. U.S. team captain Davis Love III will add six selections choices on Sept. 7.

According to the below odds from SportsBetting, Love’s first five picks are almost a given as Collin Morikawa, Jordan Spieth, Max Homa, Billy Horschel and Cameron Young all have -3000 odds or better, with that number equating to a 96.8% probability.

The last spot is up for grabs with Kevin Kisner, Tom Hoge, J.T. Poston and Sahith Theegala all with a chance, at least based on the numbers.

Hideki Matsuyama, Sungjae Im, Tom Kim, Corey Conners, Mito Pereira and Adam Scott have qualified for the International Team, but captain Trevor Immelman will announce his six additional selections on September 6.

The locks are K.H. Lee, Adam Hadwin, Sebastian Munoz and Ryan Fox. Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Cameron Davis also have favorable odds, but Mackenzie Hughes and Lucas Herbert are close behind.

The U.S. is currently a -500 favorite for the tournament while the International Team is a +500 underdog (tie option is +1600).
