NBA

Magic-Pacers

Orlando Sentinel

Orlando has
won its past two games—beating the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State
Warriors—by comfortable margins. Both wins came at home, and the Magic are
seeking their first road victory since Jan. 26, when they beat the Sixers at Philadelphia
in overtime. Indiana, which lost
Sunday in Toronto against the
Raptors, is third in the Central Division behind the Detroit Pistons and the
Cavs. The Pacers are 18-10 at home. The Magic started their season by losing to
the Pacers in Orlando 90-78 and
finish the season against the Pacers in Indiana
on April 19. The Magic will be somewhat rested after taking Sunday off while
the Pacers played in Toronto. Key
might be the defensive job Orlando
does on SG Stephen Jackson.

Nuggets-Knicks

Daily Camera

The Nuggets lead the two-game season series 1-0 after a
95-86 home win in November. The Nuggets own a three-game losing streak in the
Big Apple, having not won in New York
since March 25, 2002.  The Boston Celtics halted the Nuggets’
four-game win streak by handing Denver
a 106-101 loss Sunday. New York’s
17-44 record is the worst in the NBA and a humiliating mark for the team with
the NBA’s highest payroll at $125 million.

Hawks-Bucks

JS Online

Even though the Bucks have lost seven of 10 games since
the all-star break and have seen their record dip to 30-32, they remain in the
playoff picture in the Eastern Conference. The Bucks will take a five-game home
losing streak into tonight’s game against the Atlanta Hawks at the Bradley
Center
. It’s the first of six
straight games against teams with losing records.

Nets-Rockets

USA Today

Houston
dropped to 2-14 this season without McGrady after an
88-81 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday. The Rockets’ leading scorer has
had back trouble all season and could be out for the next five weeks after
aggravating the injury March 5 in a 102-84 win over Portland.

Timberwolves-Clippers

TwinCities.com

Perhaps it will be here that the Timberwolves
make one last stand, or fall apart completely. The four days in this city that
began Sunday could provide one last opportunity to come together, even as Kevin
Garnett’s tongue lashing still rings in their ears. Garnett erupted in a
profanity-laced scolding Saturday night in Phoenix
when some of his teammates joked around in the locker room after a 110-102 loss
to the Suns. Garnett said after the game that he felt some of his teammates
took the loss lightly, something he found infuriating.
