Let’s give the Tigers credit.  They have won with their backs to the wall,
well somewhat to the wall.  In the midst
of a rare slump, they faced a great challenge heading to Boston.  All they did was beat Josh Beckett and Curt
Schilling back-to-back. Boston
meanwhile is desperate and not performing well, losing 7-of-10.

Justin Verlander has a 2.95 ERA and 1.211 in 22
starts.  Detroit
has won 16 of them.  David Wells has a
7.65 ERA and 1.800 WHIP in four home starts. Obviously there are many
sub-categories in which Detroit
excels.  But simply put they are winning
just when the heat was turned up and Boston
is fading.  We look for it to continue.
