California Golden Bears Preview

OffshoreInsiders.com CEO Joe Duffy says his California University of PA Vulcans will dominate the Pennsylvania Conference, but how about the other Cali? Bodog previews the California team from the west coast.

The California Golden Bears have 8/1 odds to win the Pac-10 this season. Cal is first up in today’s college football preview.

Not much is expected of the Golden Bears this season but, much like the pudgy girl at the bar, perhaps that pushes them to work harder and defy expectations. Cal has certainly done it before, though it’ll be a fruitless battle if the quarterback situation isn’t resolved. It’s not all Kevin Riley’s fault, as he was sacked 31 times last year. Both he and the offensive line must get better.

The “D” is led by a fantastic set of linebackers. Mike Mohamed is the unit’s unquestioned leader after racking up 112 tackles and three interceptions last year. The pass defense was pretty bad, though, largely thanks to a floundering secondary. Three new starters will be in place in 2010. More help from the pass rush wouldn’t hurt, either.

Get your NCAA Football Odds in the Bodog Sportsbook! Grandmaster Sports Handicapper Joe Duffy’s expert take: Sorry, Cal is not among the top five and a notch below No. 6. We have them projected for seventh, though some of our models have them as high as fourth.

Florida Gators-Alabama Crimson Tide Yet Again For SEC Football Title

All football bettors know that the Southeastern Conference is the top in all of college football. Now the top sportsbook previews and the world’s best college football betting service predicts the outcome.

The defending champion Alabama Crimson Tide are heavy favorites on NCAA football odds to win the SEC. Is a repeat on the horizon? This is your SEC Conference overview.

Alabama has 1/1 odds to win the SEC. It won’t necessarily be easy, however. This conference is always loaded with tough squads, and the Tide must rebuild a once-dominant defense. If that comes through, look out.

Florida is next with 5/2 odds. The Gators are, as always, one of the most talented teams in the nation. They might be too green to overtake Alabama this season, though, and are probably at least a year away from competing for a BCS Championship.

Auburn has 8/1 odds to win the SEC crown. LSU is next at 10/1, while Arkansas and Georgia have 13/2 and 15/2 odds, respectively. It looks like another extremely competitive year in the SEC, with the winner moving on to the national championship game.

Get your NCAA Football Odds in the Bodog Sportsbook! Grandmaster Sports Handicapper Joe Duffy’s expert take: I’m going to go way out on a limb. Yes, way out. It’s Florida and Alabama in the SEC Championship Game. The Gators get washed ashore by the high Tide.

Pac-10 Preview From Bodog Sportsbook

Oh baby, Bodog has the college football lines up for week one. They also preview the Pac-10.

Oregon is the favorite on NCAA football odds in the Pac-10 this season. Can USC get back on track after losing head coach Pete Carroll to the NFL? This is our Pac-10 Conference overview.

The Ducks have 5/2 odds to earn the Pac-10 title. Oregon is loaded on offense, particularly with an impressive offensive line, but the defense leaves a bit to be desired. And while USC couldn’t prevent Carroll from leaving, it should be able to prevent offenses from moving the ball; the Trojans (8/1 Pac-10 odds) might have the best “D” in the conference.

Oregon State is also expected to contend with 3/1 odds to win the Pac-10. An electric running game should power the Beavers this season. The Washington Huskies, meanwhile, are interesting value picks with 9/2 odds and potential NFL star Jake Locker back under center.

Get your NCAA Football Odds in the Bodog Sportsbook! Grandmaster Sports Handicapper Joe Duffy’s expert take: Oregon, Southern Cal, Oregon State, Arizona, and Stanford in that order, are the powerhouses. Chic team Washington is not there yet.

The American League schedule for Monday offers up the White Sox at Cleveland, Oakland at the Yankees, Texas at Kansas City, the Angels at Seattle, and Toronto at Tampa Bay. Brett Cecil (11-6, 3.80 ERA) will take on Wade Davis (10-9, 4.41 ERA) in that Jays/Rays matchup. Lefthander Cecil beat Tampa Bay back on August 6, giving up just one run on four hits over his seven innings of work and fanning nine. Righthander Davis is coming off a win over the Angels in which he surrendered two runs on six hits in his 5 1-3 innings of work and struck out five. Tampa is 6-1 in Davis’ last seven starts.

Over in the National League on Monday it’s then Washington at Florida, Milwaukee at Cincinnati, the Mets at Atlanta, Pittsburgh at the Cubs, St. Louis at Houston, San Diego at Arizona, Colorado at San Francisco, and Philadelphia at the Dodgers. Roy Halladay (16-9, 2.22 ERA) is slated to get the ball for the Phillies in that last contest, while Los Angeles counters with Hiroki Kuroda (9-11, 3.56 ERA). Righthander Halladay was tagged with a loss by the Astros last time out, giving up three runs on six hits over seven innings to stop his six-game winning streak. Righthander Kuroda is coming off a win over the Brewers in which he allowed four runs on seven hits over his seven innings.

Nebraska Cornhuskers Football Preview

Which team earns the right to play the Texas Longhorns or Oklahoma Sooners in the final year of the Big 12 a we know it? Bodog previews the best team in the Big 12.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have 15/1 odds to win the National Championship, meaning their final year in the Big 12 could be a big one. They’re next on our college football preview.

Bo Pelini’s resurrection of Nebraska (2/1 Big 12 odds) has made former coach Bill Callaghan look like a beer league softball coach. The Cornhuskers have gone from a joke to a legitimate title threat. Ten starters return on offense this year, though quarterback is admittedly shaky. Zac Lee will start the season under center, but he’ll be looking over his shoulder at sophomore Cody Green.

Nebraska will employ a quirky 4-2-5 defensive scheme geared to stopping the pass. The “D” lost some key players to graduation and the draft, none more important than defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. There should be enough replacement parts to keep the good times rolling, though.

Get your NCAA Football Odds in the Bodog Sportsbook! Grandmaster Sports Handicapper Joe Duffy’s expert take: Luckily in the inferior division of the Big 12, the Cornhuskers will waltz to the Big 12 Championship game against either Texas or Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Sooners Football Preview

Tim Bradford is in the NFL, but now it’s time to preview his Oklahoma Sooners.

The Oklahoma Sooners are next in line for today’s college football preview. They’re national title contenders (15/2 BCS Championship odds) and have a great shot to win the Big 12 South (20/23 odds).

The Sooners have to be feeling less appreciated than a housewife who normally cooks, cleans, and takes care of business in the bedroom, but forgot to pick up the dry cleaning once. Despite years of dominance, fans are restless after an eight-win season.

The defense should dominate. Oklahoma has few holes, save for a soft spot up the middle since tackle Gerald McCoy fled to the NFL. The linebackers are led by Travis Lewis, one of the best in the country, and safety Quinten Carter heads a good secondary.

Oklahoma can run the football behind five great linemen. DeMarco Murray is an explosive threat at tailback. Landry Jones should be better after filling in for the injured Sam Bradford last season.

Get your NCAA Football Odds in the Bodog Sportsbook! Grandmaster Sports Handicapper Joe Duffy’s expert take: Yet again, it comes down to Texas and Oklahoma. The Horns will hook ‘em as Oklahoma is a strong second best in the Big 12 South.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions: Ohio State Buckeyes

The Ohio State Buckeyes are the second most talented team in the nation behind Alabama. Bodog previews the Buckeyes year.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are almost always in the hunt, but they look like legit BCS Championship contenders this year (5/1 odds). Ohio State is next in today’s college football preview.

The Buckeyes look like a shoe-in to win the Big Ten with 2/5 odds. With 16 starters returning, they’re more loaded than Bill Gates. The defense, among the nation’s best in 2009, has a few question marks but returns seven starters. A greater pass rush will be key to going the distance this year. Overall, it’s somewhat of a no-name—but effective—unit.

If Terrell Pryor can be a little more accurate, the offense could go through the roof. Pryor completed 57 percent of his passes last year; anything north of 60 would be fantastic, especially considering he does so much work with his legs. The offensive line looks downright nasty with four starters returning.

Get your NCAA Football Odds in the Bodog Sportsbook! Grandmaster Sports Handicapper Joe Duffy’s expert take: The Buckeyes are easily the best team in the Big 10. All 14 of our projections have them winning the conference.

BallHype.com, DailyRadar.com Gone

The fact that BallHype.com, part of the DailyRadar.com network, has gone under does leave a void.  Sports betting articles will be on OffshoreInsiders.com, while fantasy football rankings and NFL draft guide to win fantasy football leagues are also up.

We will miss Ball Hype, but just like SportsCrew.com going under or Brandon Lang and Matt Rivers, the winningest college football handicapper in history, the void has been filled.
