The Super Middleweight Middleweight bout features “The
Man” Mundine is 25-3 (20 KO’s) and is arguably the
more polished boxer of the two. He takes on “Green Machine” Green, who is 21-2
(19 KO’s). Green is as game as they come and, although he does not possess the
pure athleticism of Mundine, his slugging process is
undeniable.

Mundine is currently a slight favorite at –125
with Green at 105*. Shortest odds for how the fight will end, however, go
to Green, who is 205 to stop the fight with a “KO or TKO.”

At last week’s press conference, Green was calm and workmanlike in his
demeanor. Mundine, as is his usual style, was more brash; both fighters have not hid their dislike for
each other.

Respected U.S.
trainer Roy Jones Sr. will again be in Mundine’s
corner for the big macthup. He claimed that Mundine is “30 per cent better than the last time I was
here.” Meanwhile, Green has been training four days a week with a local Rugby
League club, the Parramatta Eels. This will server him well against Mundine, who
played Rugby League himself before his boxing career took off.

One day after an 86-77 loss to the Cavaliers cut Detroit’s
series lead in half, forward Rasheed Wallace, the
irrepressible motor mouth from the Motor
City, boldly declared the Pistons
would win Game 4. On top of that, Wallace proclaimed the best-of-seven series
over. The Pistons, up 2-1 in the series, will have to take better care of the
ball and do more to contain LeBron James or they’ll have make another trip to
Ohio. For the second straight game, the Cavaliers will be without guard Larry
Hughes. He remains with his grieving family following the death of his
20-year-old brother, Justin, from heart failure on Thursday.  The Pistons are 6-0 in Game 4s the past two
seasons.

Spurs-Mavericks

Since Tim Duncan’s arrival in 1997, San
Antonio has never rallied when trailing after three
games. One thing the Spurs can think about is seeing Dirk Nowitzki in Game 4.
The Mavericks forward said Sunday that he expects to play Monday despite
swelling on the right ankle that he twisted in the closing moments of Saturday’s
thrilling 104-103 victory.

Nowitzki only shot free throws during practice on Sunday
and said he’s put ice on the ankle every two hours. He said the feeling remains
stiff and that the pain is “up there” with other ankle injuries he’s endured. But
asked if there was any way he would miss Game 4, Nowitzki said, “If I lose a
leg.” Game 4 comes after a short break in the series after a three-day lull
between Games 2 and 3. Game 5 will be Wednesday in San
Antonio and Game 6, if necessary, will be back in Dallas
on Friday. It’s a pace the Mavericks prefer. Guard Jason Terry, who’s averaging
16.3 points in the playoffs, said the shorter time has kept mistakes fresh and
made correcting those problems an easier task.

San Antonio is
3-12 this season when allowing opponents to score 100 or more points. The
Mavericks have broken that barrier three times against the Spurs and won every
time. Dallas has averaged 108.5
points in winning the last two games of the series. The Mavericks have outscored
the Spurs in transition, 34-15, and have gone to the free throw line 93 times
in those games.

career start in which he allowed 12 hits and eight runs Wednesday in Los
Angeles. Righthander Brad

Webb has ripped off six straight wins, including a victory in his last outing
on May 10 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He held the Bucs to three runs on 10
hits in six innings with six K’s and no walks. San
Diego, which is 3-9 on a nine-game road swing, will
send Chan Ho Park to the mound in Monday’s opener. Park got the win in his last
start on May 10 against Milwaukee.
The righty tossed six shutout innings and improved to
1-0 over his last three starts. He faced the Diamondbacks this season on April
24 and was handed the loss. Park, who gave up four runs on nine hits in 8 2/3
innings, is 7-4 lifetime against San Diego
with a complete game and a 3.14 ERA in 15 starts. Arizona
swept a three-game set against San Diego
from April 24-26 this season.

Kansas City-Cleveland OVER 9’

If one team blows 38 percent or more of their save
opportunities, the other has a bullpen ERA of 5.00 or higher and the posted
total is 9-9’, it has gone over 264-163.

KC’s bats have turned it up a notch, actually hitting .299
their last seven games with a .369 OBP.  They are actually averaging 5.6 rpg in that span.

Cleveland is
hitting .309 at home. Overall they get 5.9 runs per game, including 6.1 at home.

This is a case where at least one pitcher should get
pounded. Affeldt is a perfect example of somebody with a deceptive ERA as he
has pitched much worse.  His WHIP is
1.934 including 1.884 on the road. The uneducated would see his 2.25 ERA over
his last three and not even be aware he dodged too many bullets as his 1.833
WHIP indicates.

Paul Byrd has a 7.98 ERA at home with a WHIP of 1.704.

The Suns prevailed in a high-scoring Game 1 even though
the Clippers made 58 percent of their shots. The Suns prevailed in a
low-scoring Game 3 even though they shot just 37.2 percent from the field. In
between, the sixth-seeded Clippers crushed the second-seeded Suns in Phoenix.
To even the series, the Clippers will have to shake off their frustration over
two tough losses and make the easy shots that they missed on Friday. Dunleavy said the Clippers had double-digit misses around
the basket. A check of the play-by-play sheet revealed 10 missed layups.

Heat-Nets

Being down 2-1 in a series is familiar territory for the
Nets. They were here just about two weeks ago.Down by
that count to Indiana, the Nets
won three straight and took their first-round series. But Shaquille O’Neal is
not Jermaine O’Neal and Dwyane
Wade is not Anthony Johnson. The Heat are not the
undisciplined, enigmatic Pacers. If the Nets lose, the Heat take control and
can close out the series Tuesday in South
Beach. But the Nets, who went 3-1
against the Heat in the regular season, don’t seem worried.
