Steelers-Cardinals Vegas Odds Up For Super Bowl

Joe Duffy, CEO of the top NFL handicapping site OffshoreInsiders.com  reports that the betting line is up for the 2009 Super Bowl between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals. The Pittsburgh Steelers are seven point favorites over Arizona at most sportsbooks.  The total is 47 under -118.

This is in line with the projected spread first reported by JoeDuffy.net.

The Arizona Cardinals are going to Super Bowl XLIII  following a 32-25 upset over the Philadelphia Eagles. Pittsburgh took at 13-0 lead against the Baltimore Ravens and held on for the battle with the former coach Ken Whisenhunt. The Steelers won 23-14 in a victory marred by Willis McGahee being carried off on a stretcher.

The NFL Tickets has the best available Super Bowl tickets. It is likely that BetUs or Bodog Life will have the first wave of exotic proposition betting lines for the Super Bowl.

Congratulations to GodsTips for sweeping the conference finals again with a Wise Guy on Pittsburgh and a Major play on Arizona.

Odds are also posted for various propositions for the Barack Obama Inauguration from the maker of Michelle Obama’s gown to the length of the inaugural address.

Super Bowl Odds XLII: Cardinals Underdogs Against Steelers or Ravens

The betting line is up for the 2009 Super Bowl. The Arizona Cardinals will be in the familiar role as underdog. According to the top NFL betting odds guru of all-time Mike Godsey of GodsTips, anchor of OffshoreInsiders.com should the Cardinals face the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh will be a seven-point favorite. If it’s a Ravens-Cardinals Super Bowl 43, the odds will have Baltimore -4.

Fantasy Football Betting Lines For Conference Championships

Who says that fantasy football season is over? There are fantasy football betting odds up for the AFC Championship game between Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens as well as the NFC Championship between the Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals.

Who covers? There answer my friend is blowing in the win.

Who will throw more interceptions Donovan McNabb or Kurt Warner? Warner is -200 to have the most completions to the wrong team.

Bet on who will score the first touchdown of their respective teams. For the Eagles it’s Brian Westbrook at +135. “Westbrook has been more of a decoy lately, plus the good weather conditions will give Andy Reid all the reason in the world to air it out,” says Mike Godsey, the top NFL handicapper of all time.

This means DeSean Jackson at +300, Kevin Curtis at +375, Brent Celek and Jason Avent each at +500 are tempting. Perhaps in short yardage, Correll Buckhalter at +400 gets the call.

The Oddsmakers say that Arizona has more weapons as there is no clear cut favorite. Tim Hightower is +200 following closely by Larry Fitzgerald +225, Anquan Boldin +275, the invigorated Edgerrin James +300, and Steve Breaston at +375.

There are similar prop betting odds in the Ravens-Steelers clash. Who scores for the Ravens first? Le’Ron McClain is the heavy favorite at +175, followed by good long shot Willis McGahee at +300, Derrick Mason at +350.

Interesting long shots include safety valve Todd Heap at +500 and big Joe Flacco at +750.

For the Steelers it’s fast Willie Parker at +150, Mewelde Moore at +325, Hines Ward at +350, Santonio Holmes at +425 and several Stillers at +500: Heath Miller, Nate Washington, Gary Russell. Big Ben Roethlisberger is +800.

Quoted odds are from Bodog Life but get free picks and more odds at BetUs.

Sunday Picks

The NFL conference championships have finally arrived, with Philadelphia at Arizona and Baltimore at Pittsburgh. BetUs has the Eagles laying 3.5 with a total of 47 and Pittsburgh as a six-point chalk with a total of 34. There are some fantasy football betting odds for the sharpest players as well.

Here’s a look in your Daily Sports Roundup.

The Gridiron Spotlight

The Ravens defense has allowed just 19 points so far over two playoff games, and they’ll be looking to keep up that pressure on Sunday when they play on the road in Pittsburgh in the AFC Championship Game (6:30pm ET, CBS). Baltimore knocked off top-seeded Tennessee 13-10 on the road last weekend, thanks to one Joe Flacco touchdown pass and two Matt Stover field goals. Flacco went 11-of-22 for 161 yards passing in that contest, while Derrick Mason had the TD grab.

The Steelers started their playoff run with a bang last weekend, bouncing San Diego 35-24 at Heinz Field on the strength of Willie Parker’s 146 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger went 17-of-26 for 181 yards through the air in that win, with one touchdown pass and no interceptions.

Division rivals Baltimore and Pittsburgh met twice during the regular season, with the Steelers winning both times (23-20 at home in Week 4, and 13-9 on the road in Week 15). The oddsmakers like the Steelers’ chances of getting a bigger win on Sunday, as they’ve been listed as a 6-point favorite with the total at 34 points.

The Eagles got past the defending-champion Giants 23-11 last weekend to advance to the NFC Championship Game on Sunday in Arizona (3:00pm ET, FOX). That win came despite sub-par performances from the team’s top offensive weapons; Donovan McNabb went just 22-of-40 for 217 yards passing with one touchdown and two picks, while Brian Westbrook ran for just 36 yards.

The Cardinals have surprised most observers with two straight wins over the Falcons and Panthers to start the playoffs, scoring 63 points over the two games. Arizona went into Carolina and came out with a 33-13 win last weekend, with Kurt Warner going 21-of-32 for 220 yards passing with two TDs and one INT. Larry Fitzgerald had a monster game, with 166 yards receiving and one touchdown, while Edgerrin James ran for 57 yards and one score in the victory.

Despite beating the Panthers the Cardinals still find themselves pegged as 4-point home underdogs on Sunday (with the total at 47 points). The Eagles and Cardinals met in Philadelphia in a decidedly one-sided affair back in Week 13; McNabb threw for 260 yards and four touchdowns in that 48-20 Eagles victory.
