Friday’s Best Bet’s–Literally

The Boston Celtics will be gunning for their 10th straight victory Friday night when they visit the Detroit Pistons. Here’s a look in your Daily Sports Roundup and the rundown of all the top sports picks for Friday night.

The Gridiron Spotlight

The most scrutinized body part heading into Sunday’s Super Bowl has been Hines Ward’s knee. The Steelers wide receiver suffered a sprained MCL against the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game, and he missed practice to rest the injury on Wednesday. However, Ward practiced fully on Thursday afternoon and will start on Sunday night against the Cards – albeit with a brace on his bad knee.

Yes we hear Brandon Lang’s Super Bowl record is 48-0. That four games worse than Mel Stewart Sports.  Now we are being sent SPAM that tells us that Grant Scott also has never lost a Super Bowl pick.

Duke-Wake Forest Betting Preview

One of the biggest games of the year goes tonight when Duke takes on Wake Forest. According to Sports Betting Sportsbook the Blue Devils are 1.5 point road favorites with a total of 149.5

Duke comes into the game 18-1 straight up and 10-7 to the Vegas odds. They have gone under the total in seven of their last eight games. All five of their ACC contests have gone under. Wake Forest is 16-1 outright and 8-5 against the spread.

The Blue Devils are outstanding on both sides of the ball scoring 80.3 points per game against teams normally allowing 67.2. Defensively they permit just 59.5 points per game teams normally getting 71.5.

The Demon Deacons score 84.2 points per game to teams that normally allow just 70.7 on sensational 50.5 percent shooting. They allow just 36.8 percent to teams normally getting 43.9 allowing 66.5 points per game to 72.2.

Duke has covered 17-of-23 series meetings. Who should one bet to beat the sportsbooks?

The Gridiron Spotlight

The Cardinals’ Larry Fitzgerald is the receiver everyone is talking about heading into the Super Bowl, so it’s no surprise that he’s the favorite to pick up the most receiving yards on Sunday on the NFL props lines. Teammate Anquan Boldin and the Steelers’ Hines Ward follow Fitzgerald on that list at most sportsbooks, although Ward’s sore knee could end up cutting into his numbers Sunday night.

BetUs Sportsbook and Bodog Life are among those that even release prop bets on the Super Bowl commercials though the meaty PETA commercial didn’t get past the censors. We will leave the second guessing to the Paul Gauguin’s armchair quarterback.

The Rest of the Schedule

The NBA rolls out a busy schedule on Wednesday, with a dozen games set for the hardwood. Headlining the early action is Sacramento at Boston, with the Celtics looking to pick up their ninth straight victory. Ray Allen and company blasted Dallas 124-100 last time out, with Allen tossing in 23 points in that victory.

The rest of the early slate: Milwaukee at Indiana, Atlanta at New York, Toronto at New Jersey, Washington at Miami, Detroit at Minnesota, Denver at New Orleans, Memphis at Oklahoma City, and Philadelphia at Houston. The Mavs will then try to bounce back with a win at home over Golden State on Wednesday night, while it’s Charlotte at Portland and Chicago at the Clippers in the west-coast contests.

Finally, the NHL offers up just four games on Wednesday, including the Rangers visiting the Penguins for an Atlantic Division matchup. Calgary will also play host to Buffalo, while Chicago visits Anaheim, and Nashville will travel to Vancouver.

News from the Wire

Clippers guard Baron Davis could finally return to the team’s lineup this week, and teammate Marcus Camby could also be back in action this week . . . Rockets center Yao Ming is expected to play on Wednesday despite his sore knee . . . Canucks forward Pavol Demitra is unlikely to play on Wednesday because of a groin injury . . . Wings defenseman Brad Stuart is day-to-day with his sore ribs…Aaron Heilman was traded to the Chicago Cubs.

Tuesday’s Gamblers Rundown

In our scorephone days when the Handicapper’s Sampler was broadcast, announcer Chris Jordan would call betting cards as strong as tonight “freight trains”. Rest assured, the sportsbooks will feel like they’ve been run over like a freight train after tonight.

The top sports betting service ever in terms of winning percentage has the NBA Game of the Year while the winningest sports handicapper in terms of units won has the Big 12 Game of the Year.

The founder of forensic sports handicapping Stevie Vincent continues to make a mockery of the bookmakers. He’s 10-2 the last three days as the linesmaker frankly is offering little to no resistance and they never have put up a fight against professional bettor Vincent. Forget Richard Paul Evans, Stevie always has the sports bettor’s economic stimulus plan.

Cardinals-Steelers Battle LeBron James and Others Super Bowl Sunday

The sportsbooks have the first batch of exotic prop bets and Sports Betting Sportsbook is leading the way thus far.

The Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers are not the only game being played on Super Bowl Sunday. The NBA schedule is highlighted by the Detroit Pistons and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In the world that is proposition bets, LeBron James is going up against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals.

Who will score more points, LeBron James or the Pittsburgh Steelers? James is -1.5 at Sports Betting Sportsbook to win that prop bet. One can also bet Kurt Warner TD passes versus King James missed three-point shots or whether the margin of Super Bowl victory will be higher than the total points scored by James’ teammate Anderson Varejo.

Pistons players are also included by the famed sportsbook. Will Willie Parker have more rushing attempts than Allan Iverson scores points? How about Cardinals first downs versus Rasheed Wallace points plus rebounds?

There are even proposition bets having Missouri State and Creighton total points, Portland State or Michigan State total points spared against Super Bowl statistical categories.

Golf fans, there are prop bets involving the fourth round scores of Sergio Garcia, Ernie Els, Phil Michelson and others.

Fantasy football betting odds and wacky wagers are also posted at Bookmaker and Bodog Life. While Bodog is well known for the craziest proposition bets, JoeDuffy.net  and OffshoreInsiders.com will keep an eye out on all the top Vegas and offshore oddsmakers.

Tuesday Betting

The NHL returns from its annual All-Star Break on Tuesday night with 11 games on the schedule. Here’s a look at all of the action in your Daily Sports Roundup.

The Gridiron Spotlight

If you like the Steelers’ chances of winning the Super Bowl on Sunday, you probably also like Ben Roethlisberger’s chances of capturing the game’s Most Valuable Player award. Big Ben is the favorite at many sportsbooks on that prop bet heading into the contest, with odds as low as 2/1 at BetUs Sportsbook. Arizona counterpart Kurt Warner has a Super Bowl pedigree as well, and he’s second on that list right now.

Other popular MVP options from the Steelers include running back Willie Parker and wide receivers Santonio Holmes and Hines Ward, with Ward (knee) carrying more risk because of his QUESTIONABLE status. Safety Troy Polamalu is among the top Steelers candidates as well. Over on the Cards, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is getting lots of MVP action this week, while fellow wideout Anquan Boldin isn’t as popular. Running backs Edgerrin James and Tim Hightower round out Arizona’s top five candidates to win the Super Bowl MVP.

Of course the biggest question is will we see anything like the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction. Troy Polamalu will be appearing in an updated version of the Mean Joe Greene Coke commercial.

The Rest of the Schedule

The NBA has just five games on tap for Tuesday, including a big Western Conference matchup between the Spurs and Jazz in Utah. Utah is -2.5 at Sports Betting Sportsbook San Antonio fell 99-85 on the road against the Lakers in their last game, while Utah is coming off a 117-97 loss in Denver. The Nuggets play Tuesday as well, as they’ll be in Memphis, while the Lakers will host Charlotte. The other two games on the slate have Sacramento on the road in Cleveland, and Orlando playing host to Indiana.

Finally, the two most notable college hoops matchups on Tuesday sees Texas playing in Waco against Baylor, and Wisconsin hosting Purdue. Baylor is -1.5 at BetUs Sportsbook and the Vegas line has Wisconsin laying one point.

The Boilermakers got past Minnesota 70-62 in their last contest for their fourth straight victory. Also on the slate: Miami at NC State, Kentucky at Mississippi, Air Force at Wyoming, Marshall at Southern Miss, BYU at Utah, and Iowa State at Colorado, while Auburn has been handed a gimme contest vs. Texas Pan-Am.

The best sports tipster ever is Grandmaster sports handicapper Joe Duffy of GodsTips. A Wise Guy play on Oklahoma City and a Major on Atlanta under led GodsTips to yet another winning day Monday. Tuesday the top all-time sports handicapper in terms of units won has five winners including Wise Guy plays in both NBA and CBB.
