My handicapping began as an obsession in the early 70s when the Philadelphia Inquirer ran a weekly handicapping contest of professional handicappers. I participated as an armchair capper year after year. I placed my first big bet on November 30, 1979 on the Widredo Benitez vs. Ray Leonard fight. I have been a pro handicapper since June 1, 1988, turning my fixation into an enormously successful vocation. I have never experienced an endless string of heartbreak like the last month or so. The weekend summed it up. NIU a late score when they could have taken a knee to put it over. Somehow GA Tech got the ball back, snuck in the backdoor. When 5.5-point underdog Jets went into OT, we already knew the outcome. Whatever happened last night, we saw the ending coming.

We do not believe the breaks even out. We are proof of that as we are owed dozens of good beats. But we only want them to be close to 50-50 (on lucky covers) from this point on so our skills and 27-years of public winning regain precedent. Don’t worry, we are working our tails off to have another great bowl season and continue the basketball profits. But if there is a scintilla of truth to the bad beats evening out, we look forward to that. Oh please commence now.
