NFL Game of the Year

The NFL Network has an early start as the Colts take on the Lions in Detroit. The biggest story in this contest is that the single greatest NFL handicapper off all-time GodsTips has the NFL Preseason Game of the Year on this game.

BetUs Sportsbook has the point spread Indianapolis -3 with a total of 40.

The QB battle for the Lions is still up in the air. It is between veteran Daunte Culpepper and top overall pick Matt Stafford. Culpepper gets the start and will play until midway through the second quarter. Stafford will play through the third quarter and Drew Stanton plays in the fourth.

Last week Detroit was minus each of their four top receivers: Calvin Johnson, Bryant Johnson, Dennis Northcutt, and Brandon Pettigrew. All four were originally expected to play, but now it looks like Northcutt is out.

NFL professional bettors will note that the Lions will be without starting QBs Phillip Buchanon, Anthony Henry, and as mentioned, Northcutt.

Starting LG Ryan Lilja is out for Indianapolis. Colts QB Jim Sorgi is doubtful, but has not been ruled out. Curtis Painter is the only other quarterback on the roster. Peyton Manning is expected to play until early in the third quarter.

Five front line players are among 11 Indy guys who are out. In addition to the above, their best defensive player Bob Sanders remains out.

Top expert pick on this game: The top handicapper in the land has the NFL Game of the Year going for day action among five NFL winners. GodsTips has an additional Wise Guy in the NFL. So far, there have been four Wise Guys in the NFL. Three have won. Two more go today including the Preseason Game of the Year, which is 16-5-1 the last 22 going back to our scorephone days. MLB Betting – Saturday Baseball Picks

Time for you online betting fans to build the perfect sports Saturday. Surely you’ll be throwing down wagers on the UFC 102 odds at night. How about betting on some ballgames in the afternoon? Let’s try a two-game parlay.

Atlanta Braves @ Philadelphia Phillies

Saturday, August 29, 7:05 p.m. ET

Derek Lowe (12-8, 4.48) vs Cliff Lee (5-0, 0.68)

If you’ve done your homework, you’ll know that Derek Lowe loves pitching against the Phillies. He’s 5-1 in his career against them with a 2.64 ERA. However, as good as Lowe is, those numbers pale in comparison to what Cliff Lee has done for the Phillies since arriving at the trade deadline. In five starts with
Philadelphia, Lee is 5-0 with a 0.68 ERA, a complete-game shutout, an 11-strikeout performance, a 0.75 WHIP, no homers allowed and a .175 opponents’ average. Just unbelievable. Forget what you knew or didn’t know about Cliff Lee; he’s as untouchable now as he was at the start of his 2008 Cy Young season. Bet on Philadelphia.

Colorado Rockies @ San Francisco Giants

Saturday, August 29, 9:05 p.m. ET

Jason Marquis (14-8, 3.47) vs Barry Zito (8-11, 4.09)

Here’s another more-than-meets-the-eye matchup. It seems logical to bet on the
Rockies whenever they send Jason Marquis to the hill this season. The All-Star is 8-4 on the road this season and has a 2.74 ERA over two starts against the Rockies. However, if you look closer, you’ll see that Barry Zito and the Giants are superior baseball picks Saturday night.

Over two starts against Colorado in ’09, Barry Zito has tossed 13 scoreless innings. Proof that those numbers aren’t a fluke; Zito has a 2.06 ERA since the All-Star break. For whatever reason, the enigmatic lefty has rediscovered his past dominance. You may as well ride it while it lasts.

Betting services recommend: Giants

Cardinals-Packers NFL Gambling

The Green Bay Packers take on the Arizona Cardinals in preseason action. Green Bay is 2-0 straight up while Arizona is 0-2. The Red Birds are -3.5 at every sportsbook with a total of 41.

Arizona‘s high powered offense has scored just one touchdown and it was in mop-up time with fourth string QB Tyler Palko. Rookie Beanie Wells is expected to finally play. However, they will be without two of their top three receivers in Anquan Boldin and Steve Breaston.

Green Bay‘s backup QB are terrible as Matt Flynn and Brian Brohm may be replaced by somebody not yet in their roster. Flynn is fact won’t even play tonight as he’s hurt.

The Packers two wins were against Cleveland and Buffalo, the latter minus their star offseason acquisition Terrell Owens.

For those into trends, Green Bay has exceeded the total in 7-of-9 preseason contests. Arizona is 3-7 against the spread under Ken Whisenhunt.

Top expert pick on this game: The MasterLockLine has a volcanic sports betting service. NFL Picks and Predictions: Redskins vs. Patriots

The New England Patriots play at the Washington Redskins. Most sportsbooks have New England laying 3.5 though SportsBook has they at -3 and -130. The total is 37-37.5.

No team has been tested more than the Redskins who play New England after taking on Baltimore and Pittsburgh. New England is very deep on the defensive line. Redskins QB Jason Campbell completed just 1-of-7 passes last game against the Steelers. The first team offense has not scored a touchdown in the preseason.

The first team offense will play at least the first half for the Skins. CB Carlos Rogers is out for the team with the politically incorrect nickname.

New England starters are expected to play some in the third quarter. Tom Brady is 14-of-23 for 157 yards, two touchdowns and an interception since returning from torn anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments.

New England head coach Bill Belichick used this week to simulate a regular season game as far as preparing for a foe. They reviewed scouting reports, watched game film, etc.

Top expert pick on this game: A true superstar is sports handicapping, Stevie Vincent has both the side and total on this contest. Those who jumped on Stevie’s full season pass are already seeing dividends. Each year he gets better and better and is already 8-4 including three straight wins. Jacksonville and the Tampa game under last night, plus his Monday Night NFLX GAME of the YEAR on the Jets the latest.
