MLB 2020 Favorites for AL, NL MVP

Baseball season is right around the corner, and the books are already projecting which players will take home a handful of the most prestigious accolades.

On Thursday, SportsBetting released odds for MLB’s 2020 home run leader, as well as Most Valuable Player and Cy Young awards for each league.

Mike Trout has the lowest odds to win MVP in his career. Last year, he started the season with 5/2, or +250, odds. Here are his odds for this season and the six prior:

2020: +100

2019: +250

2018: +125

2017: +130

2016: +150

2015: +300

2014: +500

National League newcomer, Mookie Betts, is a 5/1 favorite to bring an MVP award to L.A. for the second straight season. Last year’s winner, Cody Bellinger, has 8/1 odds.

Gerrit Cole and Jacob DeGrom top the board for Cy Young odds, and Aaron Judge is the favorite to lead the league in home runs.

You can access MVP, Cy Young and home run odds, which are subject to change, throughout the offseason at SportsBetting

Additionally, the sportsbook has set odds on Pete Rose being reinstated by Major League Baseball following the submission of a recent 20-page petition. The odds of reinstatement are 5/1, or +500, while the chances of it not happening are 1/10.

Chargers and Rivers

The L.A. Chargers are moving on from Philip Rivers, but you have to think that the competitive veteran doesn’t want to hang up his cleats just yet.

Quarterback Carousel

The Buccaneers are favorites to land Philip Rivers, and if Jameis Winston asks for too big of a contract the team may make a change under center. The odds suggest that will happen.

Drew Brees is a sizable favorite to not retire and continue his career in New Orleans, while Cam Newton is just slightly favored to be under center in Carolina next season.

XFL Cameos

The rebirth of the XFL season begins Saturday, and evidenced by the three-way tie atop the odds boards it’s apparent the bookies aren’t exactly sure how this league will play out.

Dallas, Washington D.C. and Tampa Bay are co-favorites to win the XFL Championship.

There are also over/under victory totals for each, but the most fun betting option asks which former and current NFL players will suit up in the alternative league first.

Mookie Betts Trade: Betting Odds Shift, Dodgers Now 4-1

The trade of Mookie Betts prompted an adjustment in next season’s World Series odds.

“There are only about 10 players that can impact a team’s futures odds and win total, and Mookie Betts is certainly one of them,” said Robert Cooper, lines manager at SportsBetting. “He’s a five-tool, everyday player that might finally get the Dodgers over the hump. We’re already seeing more L.A. money from pro bettors.”

On Monday this week, SportsBetting had the Dodgers with 6/1 World Series odds, but they dropped to 4/1 following the trade. L.A.’s pennant odds fell from 3/1 down to 2/1, and the team’s win total jumped two games from 98.5 to 100.5.

On the Red Sox side, their championship chances went from 25/1 to 33/1 and their victory total 88.5 to 86.5.

The Yankees remain the 2020 World Series favorites with 7/2 odds.

West Coast Teams Most Likely Tom Brady Destination Say Bookmakers

The Super Bowl is behind us so again it’s time to start speculating on the question that will dominate this offseason…where will Tom Brady play?

The odds list for Brady’s next team has expanded to 31 teams at SportsBetting and the wager is only actionable if Brady does not return to New England. But you can see every team’s chances of landing the future Hall of Fame quarterback here and below

It’s also worth noting that there are odds on whether or not Brady will be on the Patriots roster in Week 1 and they imply there is a 66.7% chance he’ll be back with the only team he’s ever played for.

Will Tom Brady be on Patriots roster Week 1?

Yes -200

No +150

Team odds for Brady initially opened at SportsBetting on January 5, and the Browns, Panthers and Raiders were listed as the early favorites. Over the next two weeks, action on the Chargers dropped their odds to +200 after initially being set at +700.

However, there is a fresh favorite for the third time as the Las Vegas Raiders have moved into the top spot.
