The American League schedule for Wednesday offers up Toronto at Oakland, Seattle at Baltimore, Detroit at the Yankees, the Angels at Boston, Texas at Tampa Bay, Cleveland at Kansas City, and the White Sox at Minnesota. Gavin Floyd (8-9, 3.70 ERA) will take the mound for Chicago in that last matchup, while the Twins go with Francisco Liriano (11-7, 3.26 ERA). Righthander Floyd was roughed up by Minnesota in his last trip to the mound, surrendering six runs on 10 hits over 6 2-3 innings in a loss on August 12. Lefthander Liriano picked up the win for the Twins in that contest, holding the White Sox to just one run on seven hits in 5 2-3 innings pitched. Liriano fanned four.

Over in the National League on Wednesday it’s then Milwaukee at St. Louis, San Diego at the Cubs, Florida at Pittsburgh, Washington at Atlanta, the Mets at Houston, Cincinnati at Arizona, Colorado at the Dodgers, and San Francisco at Philadelphia. Matt Cain (9-9, 3.11 ERA) will get the ball for the Giants on Wednesday, while Joe Blanton (4-6, 5.69 ERA) toes the rubber for the Phillies. Righthander Cain had to settle for a no-decision against the Cubs last time out, giving up three runs on eight hits over his six innings of work (while striking out nine). Righthander Blanton is also coming off a no-decision; he surrendered four runs on eight hits over 5 2-3 innings against the Dodgers.
