Tennis Betting – Top Seeds Struggling On Women’s Side

It seems like the first few rounds of the US Open are flying by but bettors should take notice of what’s happening on the women’s side. Most people are focused on NFL betting and the upcoming NFL week 1 odds, so they haven’t bothered to notice that some of the top seeds on the women’s side are not only struggling but have already been ousted.

No. 11 season Ana Ivanovic Ousted In First Round

Ana Ivanovic won the 2008 French Open but nowadays, that feels like it was a decade ago. Ivanovic has been absolutely brutal this year, not making it past the fourth round of any of the four Grand Slams this year. At the Australian Open, she only made it to the third round and at the US Open, Ivanovic had her most embarassing loss to date with a first-round upset. Ivanovic crashed and burned at the hands of Kateryna Bondarenko in three sets, losing in a third set tie breaker. She didn’t look good from the start, losing the opening set before bouncing back in the second set.

No. 1 Dinara Safina Barely Hangs On

A lot of sports picks had Dinara Safina finally breaking through and getting her first Grand Slam win at the US Open this year but a lot of people are wondering how far she can really go after barely getting past the No. 167 player in the first round. Olivia Rogowska. The 18-year-old Australian pushed Safina to the break and even led 3-0 and 4-2 in the third set before Safina came back. Safina eventually won the finally four games of the match to survive. As she moves on, she’ll have to serve and perform much better if she hopes to survive.

No. 3 Venus Williams Survives, Bounces Back

No. 3 Venus Williams looked slow, sluggish and hurt when she faced Vera Dushevina in the first round. Venus was down in the second set and just two points away from losing the match when she finally woke up. Williams was ripe for the picking but Dushevina couldn’t handle the pressure of potentially winning. A lot of people wondered how healthy Williams was/is after that match but she looked much stronger in her second-round win over American Bethanie Mattek. She won in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. She’s not a good betting system pick to win it all as she doesn’t look quite right as of now.
