NBA

Wizards-Cavaliers

Akron Beacon Journal

Coming down the stretch, the Cavs were 13-2 in games
decided by four points or fewer and 4-0 in games decided by a single point. The
Cavs gave up an average of 95 points, because most of the time they work the
ball in the halfcourt and take their time to run
their offense. When they start getting into fast games, their
success rate drops.
Excluding the team’s five overtime games, when the
Cavs held their opponent to that 95-point average or less, they were 32-10.
Meanwhile, 22 of their 32 losses came when they gave up 96 points or more and
they were 14-15 against the top 11 scoring teams in the league.

Kings-Spurs

Associated Press

Season series: Spurs, 2-1, winning two games by a total of
four points before Ron Artest came to Sacramento.
The Kings won by 10 at San Antonio
in early April.Storyline: The Spurs start their quest
for a second straight title against a dangerous No. 8 seed: Sacramento
is 26-14 since acquiring Artest in January.

Bulls-Heat

Palm Beach Post

Miami is not
as strong as people think they are,” TNT’s Reggie Miller said. “That could be
an upset in the first round.” Charles Barkley faulted the lineup coach Pat Riley
has assembled around Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane
Wade. “They’re not good defensively,” Barkley said. “It just hasn’t worked, the changes they’ve made.”
