Biggest Bet of the Year Goes Sunday in the NFL

This brought back shades of 2007 when Georgia crushed Hawaii as the Bowl Game of the Year. That made us 20-6 with all Game of the Year plays in college and pro football this year. Most recently we nailed the Bowl Moneyline Game of the Year (Miss State +130 on Dec. 29), Regular Season Game of the Year in CFB (Nov. 22 USC 20-point winner to ASU laying three), NFL Game of the Year (Nov. 11 underdog Arizona beating Detroit by double digits).

Some of the other winners were: On Sept. 20, Miami Florida was the ESPN Game of the Year. Laying -2, they crushed Texas A&M 34-17. On Oct. 4, it was our Thursday Game of the Year on South Carolina -5 to Kentucky. They win by 15. October 13, it Penn State was the Big 10 Game of the Year. Laying seven, they smash Wisconsin by 31. Finally on October 20, we had to sweat one.  Oct. 20 it was Florida beating Kentucky in the SEC Game of the Year. Then on Oct. 27, Tennessee squeaks one out against South Carolina as our Saturday ESPN Game of the Year.  On Nov. 11 our C-USA West Game of the Year on Tulsa, a bloodbath, while Cincinnati was a gift as our Big East GOY. Nov. 17 Kansas was our Big 12 edition and they win easily. But the biggest story of them all was on Nov. 22, USC laying just three points was the CFB Game of the Year. The win by 20!

Gene Chizik getting the Auburn job, Sam Bradford toppling Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy, the Richmond Spiders beating Northern Iowa and Nate Kmic of Mount Union are the big football winners so far. But thousands of GodsTips clients will again be the big winners Sunday.

With no football on the schedule for Saturday bettors will have to make due with just hoops and hockey. Here’s a look at the action in your Daily Sports Roundup.

Morning Vegas Line on Heisman Trophy

Over in the NFC the Giants are sitting as the EVEN favorites to win the conference championship. They’re followed on the Vegas futures list by the Cowboys at 5/1, the Buccaneers at 6/1, and the Panthers at 7/1. Kurt Warner and his Cardinals are at 12/1, with the Falcons at 14/1, the Vikings at 15/1, and the Eagles at 18/1. The Bears and Redskins both trail on the NFC championship list at 25/1 odds, with the Saints back at 35/1, and the Packers pegged at 150/1.

Other Notable Events

The Dallas Mavericks will be looking to grab an easy victory on Saturday night when they play host to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Mavs (12-9 SU, 9-12 ATS) got past another bad team last time out, knocking off the Charlotte Bobcats 95-90 at home on Thursday. Jason Terry led the way with 26 points off the bench for Dallas in that contest, while Dirk Nowitzki picked up 23 points and 13 boards.

LeBron James and his mighty Cavaliers will also play on the road against the Hawks on Saturday, while the Pistons will head to Charlotte to battle the Bobcats. Rounding out the NBA’s schedule for Saturday night: Washington at Philadelphia, New Jersey at Chicago, Indiana at Milwaukee, Golden State at Denver, New York at Sacramento, Orlando at Utah, and Houston at the Clippers.

The Rest of the Schedule

With both coming off impressive wins, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers will play a 1:00pm ET matinee on the ice on Saturday afternoon. The Pens blasted the Islanders on Thursday night, getting hat tricks from Petr Sykora and Pascal Dupuis in a 9-2 victory. The Flyers got a hat trick from Scott Hartnell on Thursday as they rallied for a 6-5 win over the Hurricanes.

The other early NHL game on Saturday sees Minnesota at Los Angeles at 4:00pm ET. In the evening it’ll be Atlanta at Boston, Tampa Bay at Ottawa, Carolina at the Rangers, Buffalo at New Jersey, Washington at Montreal, the Islanders at Columbus, Dallas at Nashville, Detroit at Phoenix, and Vancouver at Edmonton, while St. Louis will head to San Jose for a game against the Sharks.

Finally, a ranked college hoops matchup has No. 17 Memphis taking on No. 19 Georgetown on Saturday. As well, No. 1 North Carolina will play Oral Roberts, with No. 3 Pittsburgh meeting UMBC. Other Top 10 teams in action on Saturday: No. 5 Oklahoma vs. Utah, No. 6 Texas vs. Texas State, No. 8 Tennessee vs. Temple, No. 9 Louisville vs. Austin Peay, and finally No. 10 Xavier vs. Cincinnati.

A Peek at the Future

The Indianapolis Colts are pegged as big 17-point home favorites against the winless Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon, while the Dallas Cowboys are 3-point home favorites against the New York Giants on Sunday night . . .  the Lakers return to the court on Sunday for a game against the Timberwolves . . . Rockets-Clippers Preview
