LeBron James and the Cavaliers will get a visit from the Hawks in a matchup of top Eastern Conference teams on Saturday afternoon.  The Cavs are coming off a 97-92 win over the Trail Blazers on Thursday night, with James picking up 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists in the contest. The Hawks also grabbed a victory Thursday, getting 24 points from Joe Johnson in a 95-87 win over Dallas.

The Magic will host the Knicks on Saturday night, while Boston is at Memphis, and the Lakers will take on the Bulls in Chicago. As well, it’ll be Indiana at Charlotte, Portland at Milwaukee, and Washington at Phoenix. The Suns won a high-scoring game against Philly on Wednesday, as Shaquille O’Neal tossed in 26 points and grabbed 11 boards in a 126-116 victory. Steve Nash had 24 points.

Taking a trip around the rink . . .

Alexander Ovechkin and the Capitals will be on the road on Saturday night to take on the division-rival Hurricanes in one of eight games on the NHL schedule. The Caps and Canes have already met twice in the month of March in Washington, with each team picking up one victory. Ovechkin scored his 50th goal of the season in Washington‘s 5-2 win over the Lightning on Thursday night.

The Stars and Sharks will meet in San Jose in the only matinee on the NHL’s schedule for Saturday (4:00pm ET), while the evening slate also includes Toronto at Montreal, Buffalo at the Rangers, the Islanders at Ottawa, Columbus at Florida, Atlanta at Tampa Bay, and Vancouver at Phoenix. The Canucks are trying to chase down the Flames for top spot in the Northwest Division standings.

The first of two World Baseball Classic semifinal matchups is set for Saturday night, with Korea taking on Venezuela at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium. The Venezuelans won Pool 2 with a 10-6 victory over the United States on Wednesday, while Korea fell 6-2 to Japan in the Pool 1 final on Thursday night. The winner of Saturday’s game will move on the WBC championship on Monday.
