Nuggets-Lakers Official Sports Handicapping Preview Game 2

The Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers NBA Vegas betting odds for Thursday has the Lakers -5 with a total of 210.5.

The Lakers took a 1-0 series lead winning by two but Denver picked up the win at the sportsbooks. The Nuggets come in sizzling hot against the Vegas line, covering 11 straight. They’ve exceeded the total in 4-of-5.

Meanwhile the LA Lakers have gone under five straight and 9-of-11. The Nuggets are on a 12-2 run against the oddsmakers after allowing 100 points or more in their last game. However, they are just 16-36-1 against the spread as a road underdog of 5-10.5.

Yes GodsTips continues to rock and roll in MLB. Despite 100 percent underdogs or small favorites, the Center of the Handicapping Universe is 24-14 in pro baseball. Normally GodsTips could hit about 45 percent and still turn a profit in baseball because of so many underdog winners. To say the least, they again are doing much better than that.

Meanwhile the Lake Show is 1-7 versus the spread number off a straight up win. However, LA is 13-3 in the series spread wise.

Denver has gone under 10-1 in the playoffs as an underdog of 5-10.5. Conversely, they’ve exceeded the Vegas total at a 23-11 rate on one days rest.

The Lakers have gone under 17-4 off an ATS loss. The series has gone under 7-1 the last eight.

Denver is red hot from the floor, shooting at least 48 percent in nine of their last 11 games, making at least half their shots seven times in that span. Meanwhile, LA has shot 50 percent or higher just once in their last six games.

Tipping off on the hardwood  . . .

Kobe Bryant will try to lead his Lakers to a 2-0 series advantage on Thursday night when they host the Nuggets again in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. Bryant tossed in 40 points on Tuesday night in Los Angeles’ slim 105-103 win, with Derek Fisher and Pau Gasol both providing 13 points. Carmelo Anthony was good for a team-high 39 points in a losing cause for the Nuggets. The oddsmakers have opened the Lakers as 5.5-point home favorites for Thursday.

Meeting up on the diamond . . .

The Royals will send ace Zack Greinke (7-1, 0.60 ERA) back out to the mound on Thursday afternoon in search of a home win over the Indians. The righthander held the Orioles to one earned run on six hits over seven innings in his last start, and he tossed five scoreless innings against the Indians in a victory back in April.

Elsewhere in afternoon action in the American League on Thursday it’ll be Texas at Detroit, Minnesota at the White Sox, and Oakland at Tampa Bay, while the evening slate features Baltimore at the Yankees, Toronto at Boston, and the Angels at Seattle. Probable Angels starter Joe Saunders will be looking to bounce back from a bad outing against the Rangers (seven runs in 5 1-3 innings).

Over in the NL on Thursday the schedule includes Philadelphia at Cincinnati, Pittsburgh at Washington, Colorado at Atlanta, Arizona at Florida, Milwaukee at Houston, the Cubs at St. Louis, and San Francisco at San Diego. Righthander Tim Lincecum is the scheduled starter for the Giants on Thursday night; Lincecum was tagged with a loss by the Padres when he faced them on April 12.

Taking a trip around the rink . . .

The Hurricanes will be looking to tie up the Eastern Conference final at 1-1 on Thursday night when they take on the Penguins in Game 2 in Pittsburgh. Miroslav Satan and Philippe Boucher scored their first goals of the playoffs on Monday night as Pittsburgh edged Carolina 3-2. Evgeni Malkin had the other Pens goal in the victory, while Marc-Andre Fleury made 23 saves. Cam Ward stopped 28 shots for the Canes, while Chad LaRose and Joe Corvo both tallied.

Rounding out the Roundup . . .

Phil Mickelson was the 5/1 Vegas favorite to win this week’s PGA Tour stop, the HP Byron Nelson Championship, but he withdrew on Wednesday for personal reasons. Adam Scott, the 2008 champion, has struggled on Tour this year, and is back at 25/1 odds to grab the trophy this week. Justin Leonard, Ian Poulter, and Anthony Kim are all at 15/1, while Vijay Singh is in a group of golfers back at 20/1 odds to take the tournament being played at TPC Four Seasons Resort in Irving, Texas.

MLB Odds – Thursday Baseball Betting Picks

Interleague baseball betting play is just around the corner, but a pair of major rivalries each still have another tilt on the sked tonight. Let’s make some MLB betting picks for the Cubs vs Cardinals odds and the Red Sox vs Blue Jays odds.

Red Sox vs Blue Jays odds—Jon Lester (2-4, 6.51) vs Robert Ray (1-1, 3.60), 7:10 p.m. ET
MLB odds: Red Sox -200, Blue Jays +170

You can almost hear Blue Jays odds supporters leaping off the bandwagon already after Toronto lost two of three to the Yankees last week and now stares down a sweep at the hands of the Red Sox . No-name hurler Robert Ray doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in sportsbook players tonight. He hasn’t been half bad for the Jays so far this season but his solid home outings against the White Sox and Orioles can’t possibly prepare him for the experience of pitching before a hostile crowd at Fenway. Jon Lester has struggled in baseball betting this season but he’s 17-4 all-time at Fenway and his friendly surroundings give him as good a chance as any to bounce back. Bet on the Red Sox to pull off the sweep.

Baseball betting pick: Red Sox -200

Cubs vs Cardinals odds—Sean Marshall (2-2, 4.02) vs Adam Wainwright (3-2, 3.83), 8:15 p.m. ET
MLB odds: Cubs +120, Cardinals -140

Heres an example of how baseball betting lines can be deceiving. The Cards are just a mild favorite at home when they’re actually a rock-solid pick tonight. Marshall has faced St. Louis twice already this season, allowing six earned runs over 11 innings. He didn’t dominate the Cards in either start and now Albert Pujols and company get a third crack at him. Wainwright’s career numbers against the Cubs aren’t that great, but a closer look at his splits shows he’s owned them from 2008-on. He dominated Chicago to the tune of 2.38 ERA and .186 batting average in ’08 and carved the Cubbies up on April 24, allowing one earned run over seven innings. The Cards look good for anyone betting sports tonight.
