Friday Betting

Okay, we will concede that some of the pictures and videos from World Nude Day might be even more exciting than watching winning sports picks, though each um hold their own when it comes to a stimulus plan. The gymnast in her fundies, well anyway, let’s take a look at the Friday sports.

Today in the Daily Sports Roundup: The Pacers have to deal with the Magic, Marquette takes on South Florida, and the Pens try for a win against the Jackets.

Tipping Off in the NBA

The Magic blasted the Clippers 125-96 on Wednesday night, with Anthony Johnson scoring a team-high 25 points and Dwight Howard grabbing 15 rebounds. Orlando‘s next game comes on Friday night, as they hit the road to take on the Pacers in Indiana. Magic guard Jameer Nelson won’t be in the lineup on Friday; his dislocated shoulder should keep him out of action for 2-to-6 weeks.

Another Eastern division leader is also in action on Friday, as the Celtics go to New York to play the Knicks. As well, it’ll be Atlanta at Charlotte, Toronto at New Orleans, Portland at Oklahoma City, Denver at Washington, the Clippers at Memphis, and Utah at Sacramento, while Golden State has a game in Phoenix.

The March to Madness

The only ranked college hoops team in action on Friday is No. 8 Marquette, which will travel to the Sun Dome to play South Florida. The Golden Eagles (20-2 SU, 10-6-1 ATS) had no trouble beating DePaul last time out, winning by a final score of 76-61. The Bulls (7-14 SU, 11-9 ATS) sit near the bottom of the Big East standings, and they were trampled 65-48 by St. John’s in their Sunday meeting.

A Trip Around the Rink

After rallying past the Lightning on Wednesday night Evgeni Malkin and his Penguins will try to stay in the win column on Friday when they play host to the Blue Jackets. Pittsburgh has been slipping down the Eastern Conference standings over the past couple of weeks. Columbus is coming off a 4-2 loss to St. Louis last time out, and starting netminder Steve Mason is playing through mono.

The Sabres blasted the Maple Leafs on Wednesday night, and they’ll try to do the same to another division rival on Friday when they get a visit from the Canadiens. There are three other games on the NHL’s slate for the night, with New Jersey at Atlanta, Nashville at Minnesota, and finally the Rangers at Dallas.

Rounding Out the Slate

The PGA Tour’s Buick Invitational continues on Friday and through the weekend, but bettors who want to focus on a bigger event can already lay down some cash on The Masters. Vegas oddsmakers have Tiger Woods pegged as the 2/1 favorite to win the year’s first major, a bet which carries some extra risk as the world’s top player recovers from his injury. Phil Mickelson is next at 10/1 odds, with Padraig Harrington and Sergio Garcia following him on the list at 15/1 odds. Last year’s champion, Trevor Immelman, is back at 50/1 odds to get the repeat.
