Sunday Night Football Odds: Colts-Cardinals on NBC Betting Preview

The Indianapolis Colts take on the Arizona Cardinals on NBC Football Night in America. Bodog has Arizona -2.5 -120, while BetUs Sportsbook has Arizona -3 even. The total ranges from 48 to 49.

The Vikings (2-0 SU, 2-0 ATS) got 155 passing yards and two TD strikes from Brett Favre last week in their 27-13 win over Detroit. The oddsmakers have the Vikings as 6-5-point home favorites for Sunday, with the game’s total at 40 points.

The other 1:00pm ET games for Sunday are Cleveland at Baltimore (-13), Washington (-6.5) at Detroit, Jacksonville at Houston (-3.5), Kansas City at Philadelphia, Green Bay (-6.5) at St. Louis, the Giants (-6.5) at Tampa Bay, Tennessee at the Jets (-3), and Atlanta at New England (-4). The Falcons (2-0 SU, 2-0 ATS) will be trying to hand the Patriots (1-1 SU, 0-2 ATS) a second straight defeat. Tom Brady and company were beaten 16-9 by the Jets last week.

The late-afternoon games for Sunday has New Orleans (-6) at Buffalo, Chicago (-2) at Seattle, Pittsburgh (-4) at Cincinnati, Denver (-1.5) at Oakland, and Miami at San Diego (-5.5). The primetime matchup is then Indianapolis at Arizona (-2.5). The Colts (2-0 SU, 1-1 ATS) got past the Dolphins 27-23 last week, with Peyton Manning throwing for 303 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Cardinals (1-1 SU, 1-1 ATS) rolled to a 31-17 road win over the Jaguars in their last game.

The Red Sox and Yankees conclude their series on Sunday afternoon, with Paul Byrd (1-2, 6.04 ERA) taking on Andy Pettitte (13-7, 4.15 ERA). Righthander Byrd will be looking to bounce back from a loss to the Royals last time out in which he gave up five runs over 6 2-3 innings of work. Lefthander Pettitte (sore shoulder)  returned to action against the Angels on Monday but took the loss, allowing three runs over his six innings of work. The Yankees are 7-3 in Pettitte’s last 10 outings.

Also on the AL schedule for Sunday: Baltimore at Cleveland, Seattle at Toronto, Detroit at the White Sox, Minnesota at Kansas City, Tampa Bay at Texas, and Oakland at the Angels. The NL slate: the Mets at Florida, the Dodgers at Pittsburgh, Atlanta at Washington, Philadelphia at Milwaukee, Cincinnati at Houston, the Cubs at San Francisco, San Diego at Arizona, and St. Louis at Colorado. Roaring around the track . . .

The second race of the Chase for the Sprint Cup goes on Sunday afternoon, with the drivers taking the track at Dover International Speedway for the AAA 400. Mark Martin took the checkered flag in the Chase opener in New Hampshire last weekend, with Denny Hamlin and Juan Montoya finishing second and third in that event. Jimmie Johnson won the Autism Speaks 400 at Dover back in May, and he’s just behind Tony Stewart (12/5) at 5/2 odds to drive to the championship this season. Jeff Gordon (9/2) and Martin (5/1) trail the leaders on that odds list.

As well, Formula 1 will stage the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday, with Rubens Barrichello looking to make it back-to-back victories. The Brawn-Mercedes driver won the Italian Grand Prix last time out, and he also finished first in the European Grand Prix back on August 23. Still, the Brazilian trails teammate Jenson Button 80-66 in the drivers championship as the season enters its final stretch.
