Free NFL Pick: Titans-Steelers From Elite Football Handicapper

The Tennessee Titans take on the Pittsburgh Steelers to open the NFL betting season. The latest NFL point spread has Pittsburgh -6, but we are concerned here with the total which is 35.

The top NFL handicapping expert of all-time is GodsTips and they say go with the over 35.

Tennessee is actually going to spread out their offense tonight. They used two tight ends and two wide receivers during the preseason. Tonight they will use tight ends Bo Scaife and Alge Crumpler in the slot at times to open up the field.

Both teams will blitz heavily tonight, but that means it will be difficult for sustained drives, the heart of each offense. There will be more big plays that the sportsbooks expect.

Of course the biggest loss on either side of the ball for either team is the Titans losing their best defensive player Albert Haynesworth. Also Jevon Kearse and Kyle Vanden Bosch are not 100 percent.

Pittsburgh is without a key defensive player Lawrence Timmons.

The Steelers now have a great running game with Willie Parker battling for a new contract and last year’s first rounder Rashard Mendenhall healthy. This will give Ben Roethlisberger more time to exploit Tennessee‘s soft, two-deep zone.

Tennessee already had one of the great running games with LenDale White and Chris Johnson, but added WRs top pick Kenny Britt and free agent Nate Washington. Granted Washington is a game time decision but Britt is a big time player.

The pick: Titans-Steelers over 35.

Where to bet: It’s BetUs Sportsbook‘s Game of the Week. They are offering bettors $100 to sign up today. They also have endless pro bets such as who will score the first touchdown.

Willie Parker, Chris Johnson, LenDale White, Santonio Holmes, Hines Ward, and Rashard Mendenhall all have odds of less than 10-1.

Want to bet the over/under on the pass completions of Kerry Collins or Ben Roethlisberger? BetUs has betting lines on all of the above.

Top expert pick on this game: No handicapper dominates any sport the way Joe Duffy’s GodsTips does the NFL.

You are right. GodsTips is much better than 32-20 in football and now our best time is here. Remember in week 3 of the preseason, which emulates the regular season, we went 8-2.

Colliding on the gridiron . . .

The National Football League launches its regular season on Thursday night, with Tennessee at Pittsburgh. The oddsmakers like the defending champs at home in this contest, listing them as 6-point favorites. The total for the game has been set at a stingy 35 points. Kickoff is set for 8:30pm ET on NBC. The Titans and Steelers met in Week 16 last year, with Tennessee winning 31-14 at home. The Titans went 3-2 during the preseason, while the Steelers posted a 3-1 mark.

There’s also one college football game on tap for Thursday night, with Clemson at No. 15 Georgia Tech. The Tigers got past Middle Tennessee 37-14 last week, with Kyle Parker going 9-of-20 for 159 yards passing and two touchdowns. The ranked Yellow Jackets dispatched Jacksonville State 37-17 in Week 1; Jonathan Dwyer rushed for 95 yards and a pair of first-quarter scores in that contest. The oddsmakers have Georgia Tech listed as a 5-point home favorite for Thursday.

Meeting up on the diamond . . .

Ryan Rowland-Smith (3-2, 3.88 ERA) takes on John Lackey (9-7, 3.74 ERA) on Thursday night as the Mariners and Angels conclude their series in Los Angeles. Lefthander Rowland-Smith is coming off a win over the Athletics in which he gave up three earned runs over eight innings. Righthander Lackey dominated the Royals in his last trip to the mound, giving up just one earned run over his nine innings of work. The Angels, however, are just 3-4 in Lackey’s last seven outings.

There are just two other games on the American League schedule for Thursday, with Minnesota at Toronto and Detroit at Kansas City. Over in the National League on Thursday it’ll be Cincinnati at Colorado, Florida at the Mets, Atlanta at Houston, and Philadelphia at Washington. Joe Blanton (9-6, 3.80 ERA) will take on Livan Hernandez (7-10, 5.44 ERA) in that Phillies/Nats matchup. Righthander Hernandez has gone 0-5 with two no-decisions over his last seven trips to the hill.

Tipping off on the hardwood  . . .

Four games make up the WNBA schedule for Thursday, with New York at Detroit, Indiana at Chicago, San Antonio at Sacramento, and Phoenix at Seattle. The Mercury (22-10 straight-up, 22-10 against-the-spread) and the Storm (19-13 SU, 14-17-1 ATS) are the top two teams in the Western standings heading into next week’s playoffs. Those two clubs last met in Seattle back on August 4, with Phoenix winning 101-90. Diana Taurasi had a team-high 19 points in that victory.

Rounding out the Roundup . . .

Finally, the PGA Tour’s FedExCup playoffs continue on Thursday with the opening of the BMW Championship at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club in Lemont, Illinois. Steve Stricker, who has jumped ahead of Tiger Woods in the FedExCup standings, is tied with Padraig Harrington at 15/1 on the Vegas odds board for this event. Woods, though, remains the tourney favorite – he’s been pegged at 9/5 to win. Phil Mickelson, Retief Goosen, and Ernie Els all sit back at 20/1 odds.

NFL Handicapping: Steelers vs. Titans

Clemson vs. GA Tech opens up the betting weekend, but it’s also the debut of regular season NFL betting picks as the Tennessee Titans take on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bodog has the Steelers -6 with a total of 35.

Handicapping notes: There are plenty of sports betting subplots in this contest. Last year, the Titans got off to a 10-0 straight up start before finishing the year 13-3 and losing to Baltimore in the first round of the NFL playoffs.

Conversely, Pittsburgh got off to a sluggish start, but won nine of their final 10 regular season games and of course every postseason contest. Their only loss in that span was to Tennessee. As far as “bulletin board” motivation: Titans RB LenDale White stomped on a Terrible Towel after the contest.

Each team returns 20 starters, though the Titans had arguably the biggest loss in the NFL as their best defensive favorite Albert Haynesworth fled via free agency.

Against the spread records: The Titans are 7-0 as underdogs of 3.5-10 points and 8-0 in the month of September. Tennessee is 11-4 on grass.

Pittsburgh is 6-1 their last seven to the AFC and 24-8 as home favorites of 3.5-10 points.

Over/under angles: The Steelers have gone over seven straight opening weeks. Seven of the last eight meetings at the confluence of the Three Rivers have gone over

Top expert pick on this game: For the over/under it’s Mon Valley Sports is the top team specialist in all of sports.  In 14 previous years, they have hit no worse than 53 percent in sides and totals involving the Steelers.  Over the last six years, they hit better than 63 percent and are 62.1 percent lifetime sides, totals in pre, regular and postseason. Titans/Steelers over/under.

For the side, it’s the best ever: You are right. GodsTips is much better than 32-20 in football and now our best time is here. Remember in week 3 of the preseason, which emulates the regular season, we went 8-2.

NFL Betting – Redskins, Giants Kick Off NFC East Action

NFL betting players are well aware that the NFC East is the toughest division in the league, and there isn’t a lot separating all four teams. The action begins at Giants Stadium on Sunday, when the New York Giants host the Washington Redskins, who have struggled in the “Big Apple” lately.

Redskins vs Giants odds – Sunday, September 13, 4:15 PM ET

Jason Campbell looked alright during the preseason, but it’s not difficult to see why the Redskins were courting other pivots in the offseason. This could mean another heavy workload for Clinton Portis in the backfield. Santana Moss would benefit from some more downfield throws. The defense should be even better with Albert Haynesworth in the fold, and he’s already made a name for himself by driving New England‘s Tom Brady into the turf during a preseason meeting.

The Giants didn’t look good in the preseason, and the defense is still getting used to life without Steve Spagnuolo, who left to coach St. Louis. But they still have talent on that side of the ball, and the pass-rush duo of Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyiora could be the best in the league once they get on the same page. Hakeem Nicks was thought to be one of the sleeper NFL picks of the first round, and he got off to a slow start, but got better as he got used to the speed of the NFL. This means huge things for quarterback Eli Manning, who just signed a massive contract that he has to live up to.

Your offshore sportsbook has the Giants as a 6.5-point favorite at home, where they’ve beaten the Redskins in four of their last five meetings, covering the spread each time. Considering that these are two of the toughest defenses in the league, it’s no surprise that the last five games they’ve played at Giants Stadium have gone under the posted total. The Giants have had a troublesome offseason, and they have to be dying for regular-season action. A weak offense like the Giants may be the beest thing for their confidence.  The Giants should be the online betting pick in your gambling software.

Golf Odds – Five (Or Six) To Watch At Cog Hill

While everyone is excited for NFL Week 1 matchups, the FedEx Cup playoffs are heating up heading into the third of four events, the BMW Championship at Cog Hill. Camilo Villegas is the defending champion, and he’ll be one of our five (or six) to watch this weekend.

BMW Championship odds – Thursday, September 10

Tiger Woods (+150): the world’s No.1 player won here in 2007 before missing last year’s event due to injury. His putter let him down all weekend at the Deutsche Bank Championship before he blistered the TPC Boston for a final-round 63, which gave him a T-11. Woods trails Steve Stricker by 909 points in the standings, but anytime he tees it up, he’s the online sports betting favorite.

Steve Stricker (+1400): Stricker’s final-hole birdie gave him his third win of the season, and he has six top-10s in 10 FedEx Cup events. He’s also not bad at Cog Hill, where he finished third in 2007, and T-10 in 2008. Stricker seems to know how to win now, but can he hold off Woods in the standings?

Padraig Harrington (+1400): Paddy’s T-4 was his fourth top-10 in a row, and third top-five in four starts. He stumbled here last year, finishing T-55, but like Stricker, he’s playing with as much confidence as anyone on the PGA Tour. Golf may be a game where momentum counts more than any other sports, so watch out for the three-time major winner in your offshore sportsbook.

Jim Furyk (+2000): Furyk improved on his T-14 finish at Cog Hill from 2007 with a T-3 last year at Bellervie, and he finished T-8 at the Deutsche Bank Championship last week. However, this was his first top-10 since early July, so you may want to avoid him in this year’s sports picks

Scott Verlplank (+5000)/Camilo Villegas (+6600): Verplank has top-10 finishes in each of the first two FedEx Cup events, and he has finishes of T-28 and T-30 in this event. Meanwhile, Villegas hasn’t broken into the top 10 since March, but he followed up a T-7 in 2007 at Cog Hill with last year’s two-stroke win. If you’re looking for longshots, put this pair into your gambling software.

ESPN: Florida State vs. Miami

ESPN televises a game that’s becoming a bigger Labor Day tradition than the Jerry Lewis Telethon: Miami Florida versus Florida State. FSU ranges from a six-point favorite at SportsBook to 6.5 at Bet Online. The over/under is 47. Here is the official betting preview of Miami-FSU.

Handicapping notes: This begins a brutal four-game stretch for Miami in which each of the first four foes were ranked to start the year, though two Virginia Tech and Oklahoma already have a loss.

Florida State had a fall practice season that was never interrupted by weather, a phenomenon that head coach Bobby Bowden says he can not remember happening before in the notorious Florida heat, lightning, and rain.

Miami has their fourth defensive coordinator in four years. Topping the list of Hurricanes who have been ruled out are defensive back Ryan Hill and safety Vaughn Telemaque.

Both teams are banged up on the defensive line. Canes DE Eric Moncur, who started when the two met last year, is out. FSU DT Justin Mincey is out and other members of the two-deep front four are nursing injuries.

According to Cy McCormick of The MasterLockLine, has the top plays from the top sports services in their highest ranked sports, several scouts told him that UM should be able to exploit several holes in FSU’s secondary.

Against the spread records: The Hurricanes are 9-3 as underdogs of 3.5-10. However, they are 7-18 inside the conference.

Top expert pick on this game: Sports service out of Midwest is the No. 1 all-time CFB service in units won. Their highest rated plays are Executive Plays. Saturday, Sept 5 this magnificent service sweeps with Army and UCLA as Exec Plays. Sunday it was Ole Miss. You got them all here. Miami/Florida State side.
