NCAA Football Betting – Week 4 Picks

Online sports betting fans know that the football season goes by very quickly. After all, time flies when you are having fun. Set aside the NFL betting line for this week as we focus on some picks for the college card this Saturday.

Washington Huskies @ Stanford Cardinal

The Washington Huskies pulled a shocker last week when they were unranked and knocked off the USC Trojans but let’s take a closer look at that win. For starters, the Huskies were at home. Secondly, the Trojans were without their starting quarterback, Matt Barkley, and without top running back Joe McKnight. On top of that, the Trojans had no confidence in their passing game with Aaron Corp under center and they committed three turnovers.

Let’s give Washington some credit for the win. After all, they were winless last year. But even so, the Huskies should not be in the Top 25 right now and they aren’t going to be a Pac 10 contender. They are good and they have come back to life, but they are overrated at this particular time.

After that upset win, there is no way that Stanford is going to take them lightly this week. Stanford is further along in their development and they are very familiar with the role that Washington is in. They will be aware and they won’t get upset on their home field.

Sports Picks: Stanford

TCU Horned Frogs @ Clemson Tigers

The TCU Horned Frogs are the last team carrying the Mountain West banner.

It was an ugly week for the conference last week as two of the top teams were pimpslapped by unranked opponents, which has left the Horned Frogs as they only team with a real opportunity at the BCS Championship game.

The Utah Utes, who had the nation’s longest winning streak, lost last week in Oregon while the BYU Cougars were manhandled by Florida State at home.

This week, TCU head to Clemson and this is both a winnable and a losable game for them.

TCU is very much capable of winning this game because Clemson is a perennial underachiever and they always struggle in big games. On the other hand, Clemson is good enough to beat TCU and the Horned Frogs should be aware that heading to Death Valley is always tricky.

Week 4 College Football Tipsheet For Bettors

As the season goes on, key injuries become more frequent. The OffshoreInsiders.com tip sheet breaks down key football handicapping information the bettor must know for this weekend’s games.  As sports bettors know, Dr. Bob, Phil Steele, Sports Reporter, and the Gold Sheet were once the premier tipsheets, but now it’s OffshoreInsiders.com

Arizona State vs. Georgia

After feasting on cupcakes Idaho State and Louisiana Monroe at home, ASU travels to Georgia. It could be a sandwich situation for the Bulldogs. They are fresh off a wild road win at Arkansas 52-41 and host LSU next week.

Not only does UGA have an extra game under their belt, but they’ve played three BCS foes, all significantly tougher opponents than either of the Sun Devils tune-ups.

Marshall vs. Memphis

Albeit against a weaker opponent Tennessee-Martin, the Tigers offense had a huge breakout game last week after being among the worst in the country after two games. It was the first game as starter for sophomore QB Tyler Bass.

Bass completed 22-of-28 for 293 yards and four TDs. He also rushed for 80 yards and another trip to the end zone.

Notre Dame vs. Purdue

Irish QB Jimmy Clausen admits his turf toe could affect his play. They are already without top WR Michael Floyd. He will be replaced by two players trying to resurrect their careers. Duval Kamara set two freshman receiving records two years ago, while Robby Paris was second on the team in receiving yards. Each player has regressed since.

Iowa vs. Penn State

Penn State’s defensive leader LB Sean Lee is questionable-to-probable. Their second best LB Navarro Bowman has been limited in the first three games with a sore right groin. However he is back to 100 percent.

Iowa has allowed just two touchdowns in three games. The have eight starters back from the unit that was fifth in the nation last year in total defense.

TCU vs. Clemson

Clemson star RB C.J. Spiller is questionable with turf toe, though he claims he will be “good to go” Saturday.

South Florida vs. Florida State

USF’s best ever QB Matt Grothe is out for the year. Thus redshirt freshman B.J. Daniels makes his first ever start behind center.

Middle Tennessee State vs. North Texas

MTSU tries to avoid a letdown after a dramatic come-from-behind last-second win over Maryland last week. Improved North Texas is 1-2 straight up, but one loss was in OT, the other to powerhouse Alabama.

Louisville vs. Utah

The Utes must fight a letdown after having their 23-game winning streak snapped at Oregon, which by the way was yet another GodsTips winner. The Cardinals though are also a heart-breaking loss to rival Kentucky.

Washington State vs. USC

Cougars leading rusher James Montgomery is out for the year. WSU is already hurting on the offensive line as their top three guards are also out. The shuffling around means that WSU will start a freshman as well as a former walk-on along the offensive line.

Pittsburgh vs. NC State

The Panthers are 3-0 straight up with each win by 13 or more points and they are 13-4 in their last 17 games.

California vs. Oregon

Golden Bears WR Nyan Boateng is out. He led the team in receptions last year and was third this season. He is also an outstanding downfield blocker.

Golf Betting – Tour Championship Preview

Well, online sports betting fans, it’s almost time to say goodbye to meaningful golf in 2009. The Tour Championship is the last FedEx Cup playoff event of the year and it starts Thursday. Here are some intriguing names to consider this week.

Tiger Woods

Tour Championship odds: +125

Tiger’s +125 odds to win are high even by his standards, They’re justified however, as he’s fresh off a landslide victory at the BMW Championship. It’s pretty amazing that he has six wins in what many are calling an off year for him simply because he didn’t win a major. Sports picks don’t come safer than him this week; when a guy fresh off a win plays at a course on which he won two years ago and leads the Tour in scoring average and par breakers, you bet on him.

Padraig Harrington

Tour Championship odds: +1415

Maybe 2009 isn’t a total write-off for Harrington after all. He finished 15 straight tournaments outside the top 10 to start the year only to heat up at crunch time; he has five straight top-10 finishes now. With his swing fixed and his scrambling helping him stay consistent, he’ll probably contend again. However, he still has to conquer his bizarre Sunday hiccups.

Sean O’Hair

Tour Championship odds: +2050

Hardly a household name, O’Hair is a guy to remember this week. He’s shown he can hang with the big boys in the FedEx Cup, posting consecutive top-10s. The host course, East Lake, has thick rough, so accurate ball strikers should fare well. O’Hair is no exception; he hit 32 straight greens during one hot stretch this year.

Mike Weir

Tour Championship odds: +5250

Weir may be the best sleeper pick this week since he can match O’Hair’s accuracy yet offers much better sportsbook value. He finished sixth at East Lake last year, so seeing him contend again wouldn’t be a huge surprise.

Betting services recommend: Tiger Woods +125
