It’s Over: Obama 384; McCain 154

Barack Obama will win a landslide election by an electoral margin of 384-154 according to Grandmaster sports handicapper Joe Duffy, also widely accepted as the top political prognosticator.

Duffy jokes he has correctly predicted every Presidential Election but one. “I really thought General Winfield Scott would pull of the upset against Franklin Pierce,” says Duffy, tongue planted a bit in cheek.

Duffy admits his projections, much like his winning sports picks, are not based on any type of inside information. “I just know where the best and most precise data is,” says Duffy. He utilizes the consensus polls at RealClearPolitics.com and the political betting odds, which are without question the most accurate precursor.

Brian Gould of ScoresOddsPicks.com explains why the oddsmakers trump Gallup, Pew, Rasmussen Reports, etc. “Unlike the pollsters, the sportsbooks will lose serious money if their odds are off.”

Says Duffy, “Ignore the talking heads on television, there are only three swing states: Indiana which is likely McCain and Missouri and North Carolina, probable Obama states.”

Even if McCain sweeps the swing states, the best he will do is lose 358-180. According to the presidential betting line, Democrat Barack Obama is -875 to capture the White House. Cy McCormick of the online betting syndicate MasterLockLine.com says, “These are Michael Phelps type numbers,” in comparing Obama’s frontrunner status to the heavy odds sportsbooks posted on the Olympic swimmer.

InTrade gives Barack better than a 90 percent chance of winning the Electoral College. Well known sportsbook Sportsbook.com has the number of states each candidate will win. According to Duffy, it’s likely 30-to-32 for Obama. Winning 26-30 is -120, while 31-25 is +120.

BetUs Sportsbook offers what appears to be a living lock. The over/under for number of states McCain will win is 21.5 and investors can bet under at -110. “The chances of McCain getting at least 22 states are very slim,” predicts Duffy confidently.

Is there one state where a major upset could occur? McCain to win Pennsylvania at 6/1 is the only potential shocker according to Duffy. With a new videotape surfacing of Obama saying he would “bankrupt” coal fired power plants could change votes in Western Pennsylvania says Duffy.

Betting Preview: Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots for Sunday Night Football

Here is the official betting preview of the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots for Sunday Night Football. After making a fortune with your early NFL bets, bettors ride it into Sunday Night. The sportsbooks have Indianapolis as a 6.5 point favorite with a total of 44.

The Patriots are 5-2 straight up, but only 3-4 against the spread. However, they are 2-1 straight up and to the Vegas spread on the road. Indianapolis is 3-4 straight up and 2-5 versus the number. This includes 1-4 their last five, going over 4-of-5.

New England has won three straight in Indianapolis. The Colts are a shocking dead last in the league in rushing yards per game at 73.4 They have a league low 11 carries of more than 10 yards.

New England is a sensational 10-3 in the back pocket in the series at Indianapolis and 18-9 overall.

Special teams have been a huge key for the Pats as they lead the league the league in average starting position.

New England is below average on offense behind Matt Cassel. They are getting just 4.2 yards per carry against teams normally allowing 4.4 and 6.2 yards per pass against teams normally allowing 7.2. They are also below average on defense allowing 4.4 yards per carry to teams normally getting 4.3 and 7.3 yards per pass to teams normally getting 6.7.

As the top NFL betting expert in the land Mike Godsey of GodsTips, anchor of OffshoreInsiders.com says, “It’s very rare a team would have such a high winning percentage but below average ratings (not rankings) on offense and defense.”

The Colts pass defense has been solid allowing just 6.1 yards per pass to teams normally getting 6.6. They even get .1 more yards per play on offense than their foes normally allow.

Some spread marks: Indianapolis is 9-22 at home after getting 99 or less rushing yards in two straight games. They’ve gone over 10-1 if they are 1-2 their last three games against the spread.

New England is 1-9 off straight up win and 1-10 after allowing more than 350 total yards previous game. The Colts have dropped four in a row if their opponent has a winning record.

Vegas NFL Betting

It’ll be Cowboys/Giants and Patriots/Colts on Sunday as the NFL headlines a sports schedule that also includes auto racing and the NBA. You have the objective rundown of the biggest Vegas spread picks for the NFL.  Now, here’s your Daily Sports Roundup. We will have the late breaking NFL injuries for fantasy football (fantasy football betting odds) and betting in just a moment.

The Gridiron Spotlight

The Cowboys have been in turmoil over the past month, but they can still tie the rival Giants in the win column by beating them on the road on Sunday afternoon. The 5-3 (3-5 ATS) Cowboys, however, have been listed as big 9-point underdogs for this contest, with the total at 41 points. The 6-1 (5-2 ATS) Giants are on a two-game winning streak.

It’s been doom-and-gloom in New England and Indianapolis this season, but both of those teams will be looking to come up big on Sunday night and give their campaign a jolt of energy. The 3-4 (2-5 ATS) Colts have been listed by the oddsmakers as 6-point home favorites (with the total at 44). The Pats are 5-2 SU and 3-4 ATS so far this year.

Rounding out the NFL’s slate for Sunday: the Jets at Buffalo (-5.5), Detroit at Chicago (-12.5), Jacksonville (-7.5) at Cincinnati, Baltimore at Cleveland (-1.5), Green Bay at Tennessee (-4.5), Arizona (-3) at St. Louis, Houston at Minnesota (-4.5), Tampa Bay (-9) at Kansas City, Miami at Denver (-3), and Atlanta (-3) at Oakland. As well, the Eagles will head to the west coast to take on the struggling Seahawks as 7-point road favorites.

Other Notable Events

The Sprint Cup Series is at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend for Sunday’s Dickies 500. Standings leader Jimmie Johnson will be looking to take a stranglehold on the series title in this race; he has a 183-point lead on Carl Edwards with just three races to go in the season. Edwards won the Samsung 500 on the Texas track earlier in the year.

As well, Lewis Hamilton will be trying to clinch the Formula One title on Sunday when he takes to the track in South America for the season-ending Brazilian Grand Prix. Hamilton leads Felipe Massa 94-87 in the drivers championship, and he just has to finish in the Top 5 to win the title. Kimi Raikkonen is the defending champ at this event.

The Rest of the Schedule

A single college football game is on the schedule for Sunday, with East Carolina playing at Central Florida. The Pirates are coming off a 30-10 win over Memphis, and they’re listed as 3.5-point road favorites in this contest (with the total at 51 points). Central Florida fell 49-19 to Tulsa last time out, and they’ve been beaten in five of their past six.

There are just two NBA games on the Sunday schedule after a busy Saturday around the league. The Bucks and Knicks start things off at 6:00pm ET with a game in New York, while Oklahoma City will play host to the Timberwolves in a 7:00pm ET matchup.

Finally, there are six games on the NHL’s schedule for Sunday, including Edmonton at Philadelphia at 1:00pm ET; the Flyers have recovered from a slow start to go 4-0-0 in their last four games. Rounding out the slate: Toronto at Carolina, Florida at Atlanta, San Jose at Colorado, Calgary at Anaheim, and Detroit at Vancouver to close the day.

A Peek at the Future

It’ll be Pittsburgh at Washington on Monday Night Football, with the Redskins pegged as 1.5-point home favorites (and the total at 36.5 points). The NFL also begins their Thursday night games next week, with Denver at Cleveland . . . the top game on the NBA’s schedule for Monday is Cleveland at Dallas, while the Celtics get back on the court in Houston on Tuesday . . . the Sprint Cup Series will race in Phoenix next week.

In other betting news, if somehow John McCain upsets Barack Obama, it’s bigger than Truman over Dewey or Lake Erie over the California Vulcans. The political betting odds make Obama a lock. Not even John McCain’s appearance on SNL or even fellow Bush attack dog Ben Affleck making a bigger fool out of Keith Olbermann than he makes of himself, nor the last second Obama and McCain interviews with Chris Berman on Monday Night Football will change destiny says Grandmaster sports handicapper Joe Duffy. Let’s just hope the promised “change” results in Draconian anti-gambling laws being reversed.
