·
Bill Tanner is the No.
1 college and NBA handicapper
combined since 1995. Stats are out of 620 services monitored, rankings based on
total net units won based on ONE unit per play. He’s from the basketball crazed
state of
Indiana and his Platinum Plays in hoops hit around 62
percent.  He also hits above 60 percent
in college football with “Plats”.
He is 22-7 in 2006 with all Plats in all
sports including the Sonics HERE YESTERDAY. You know it’s legit because you got
EVERY ONE OF THEM. An NBA Plat goes

·
Sports-Handicapper.com EXCLUSIVE: Sportscrew.com
is the nation’s premier sports gambling site. When at least 14 of their
18 in-house handicappers
agree on a play or if at least 10 agree with no
conflicting opinions, it’s a Sportscrew.com in-house consensus. Since May 7, 2005 they are 64-25. You know
it’s legit because you got EVERY ONE OF THEM. Another Sports-Crew Consensus goes tonight

Sports-Handicapper.com gives you the highest rated plays from the

sheets and other sources and give you their top plays more times than not at a
fraction of the cost.

Yesterday was the perfect example of why we tell you we
try to release plays as early as possible, not worrying about shopping for
lines when we release plays but giving you the luxury of finding the best
line.  Most of you got Ohio
State
as a winner or at worst a
push.  With Texas,
most of you go 2-0 with Wise Guy plays Sunday.

We
start out with two NBA winners for Monday and added a college tourney winner as
late steam
. The ENTIRE card is just $17 at www.godspicks.com.  We now
take virtually every credit card, PayPal and eCheck.
Also we now have yearly and other packages

OHIO -17 Central Michigan

Ohio was
caught off guard once.  That will ensure
it won’t happen again tonight. Monday’s meeting is similar to the 2002 MAC
Tournament when CMU won at Ohio
as the No. 12 seed, 65-56. That year, CMU only had one road win entering the
postseason, the same situation as this season.

How do they match-up? The two teams met earlier this year
in Athens and the Bobcats posted a
76-44 win on Jan. 14.

CMU actually was relatively competitive at home but rancid
on the road.  In location comparison
(home team’s home stats, road team’s road stats) Ohio
makes 12.4 percent more of their shots and allows 3.4 less. Central is
outscored by 16 ppg on the road and Ohio
is certainly a better than average team outscoring teams by 14 at home.

This game is a rout as Ohio’s
blunder in 2002 ensures the rout.

Lord of the Dance’s Greatest Hits

Joe Duffy (JoeDuffy.net)

We’ve written many articles over the years about winning
in March Madness.  We’ve also included
nuggets in our Tid-bets about how to have a March of Dimes.  But let’s review some of the best winning
strategies here on the K-Tel of our Marching Hymns.

·
Depth is more important in conference play than
any point of the year.  Teams are playing
three and four days in a row.  Previous
boxscores loom huge in conference tourney play

·
Read press releases closely for the conference
tournaments (or our news and notes at JoeDuffy.net).  Often coaches and players of teams that are
“locks” for the Big Dance will subtly or not-so-subtly admit when resting
players is more important than winning the conference postseason title

·
Don’t fall for the “handicap guard play”
trap.  Virtually every team that makes
the Dance and many that miss it have strong guard play.  Few teams compliment it with talent as the
three, four and five spot.  Those are the
teams that advance and cover

·
Talent is infinitely more important than
experience. Few teams have a lot of both.
I handicap talent first and foremost. Don’t fall in love with mediocre
teams just because they are senior laden

·
Take emotion in the first half lines of the
first round.  A big underdog making a
rare NCAA appearance or especially first ever, more times than you’d expect are
able to keep it close against traditional powers in the first 20 minutes of the
ballgame

·
Unlike the college bowls, finishing the season
strong does go a long way.  Momentum is
much more important in the hoop postseason than football

·
Don’t handicap neutral games as if they are road
games for both teams.  One of the biggest
myths in sports handicapping is that road record is indicative of neutral court
play

·
However propinquity of schools to the site is
very important. If one team had to make a much longer trip, we do favor the
team that is significantly closer to the game location

·
At one time fading the chic mid-majors after the
first round was as good as gold.  However
the gap between the rich, middle class and poor conferences continues to
narrow. “Strength of schedule” rankings still play a part though.  Massey’s consensus power ratings and
Foxsheets are the most accurate

·
With so many square players coming out of the
woodwork for Madness and different books catering to different clientele, line
shopping is more important (more lucrative opportunities) in March Madness then
ever.  This is especially true with
totals.

·
Be careful about playing in any high stakes
bracket tournament because it can and generally will bias you and inhibit your
ability to make proper adjustments as the NCAA tournament goes on

·
The NIT small conference teams are great plays
in the first two rounds.  They almost
always have the David versus Goliath motivational advantage, not to mention the
NIT is a major tourney for the bottom rung conferences

·
Big conference teams though become bigger plays
as the NIT goes on.  Clearly with a win
or two under their belt, there should be little doubt about how much they
“want” to win.  Plus for financial
reasons the bigger conference teams are often playing all at home while the
tiny conferences are forced to win consecutive big games on the road.  It’s all about the money to the organizers
and the bettors

·
In NIT picking, it’s the mid major bubble
outsiders that generally feel they have something to prove.  Big 10, ACC, Big East outside-looking-in
teams make quick exits, unless they have their entire nucleus coming back the
following year and it’s a true “building block” tournament

·
Satellite and internet radio is a bigger tool
than ever.  Both are great resources for
the inside skinny

Duffy’s plays are part of the Dream Team at Godspicks.com.  His daily and advanced news and notes
directly from his private clipboard are linked from the home page of www.godspicks.com or get them at JoeDuffy.net  They will be “must read” for all gamblers
during and beyond March Madness

Ball State-Buffalo

Buffalo News

If the University at Buffalo
makes a run in the Mid-American Conference Tournament, it will be with a short
bench.
The Bulls, who finished 18-12 following Saturday’s regular season
finale loss at Miami (Ohio), have 10 healthy players but only seven, maybe
eight if the stars are aligned properly, will receive significant minutes. So
the No. 8-seeded Bulls will drag their weary bodies into a first-round matchup
against No. 9 seed Ball State
(10-17) at 7 p.m. tonight at Alumni
Arena. Because of injuries and waiting for several underclassmen to develop, UB coach Reggie Witherspoon has relied heavily on a 7-8 man
rotation but the Bulls found it difficult to keep pace once the MAC portion of
the schedule kicked in. Despite winning two of their last three games, the
Bulls were just 3-7 over their last 10 and finished fifth in the MAC East
Division with an 8-10 record. With that lean bench, seniors Calvin Cage, Mario
Jordan and Roderick Middleton and juniors Yassin Idbihi and Parnell Smith can expect to play 30-35 minutes a
game. Cage admits he’s a bit fatigued, but this is his final season at UB and he’ll run on fumes at this point. “This is my last
hurrah,” he said. “Once the ball goes up, I’m going to go 45 or 50 minutes if I
have to.” Cage may not have a choice. Freshmen Sean Smiley and Vadim Fedotov are out for the
season with ACL injuries, which leaves a bench of freshman Eric Moore, junior
walk-on Darwin Young (Hutch-Tech) and not much else. It hasn’t helped that
Smith is still recovering from a high-ankle sprain and that Middleton is
suffering from a case of asthma.

Bowling Green-Toledo

Press Notes

The Rockets enter postseason play riding a seven-game MAC
win streak following Saturday’s 66-64 victory over Central Michigan.
The Rockets split their two meetings with Bowling Green this season with both
teams winning on their homecourt. UT has won seven straight games vs. the
Falcons in Savage Hall with its last defeat coming on Feb. 6, 1999. Toledo
has won nine of its last 13 meetings with the Falcons, but the two teams have
split their season series the last three years. Bowling Green is one of three teams to have
advanced to Cleveland in each of
the six years it has been held at Quicken Loans Arena. However, the Falcons are
on a seven-game losing streak and have 20 losses for the first time in 20
years.

Central Michigan-Ohio

Scorephone.com

The fifth-seeded Bobcats begin their title defense by
hosting 12th-seeded Central Michigan in the
opening round on Monday. Last year, Ohio
was the fourth seed in the tournament, as it won its first postseason crown
since 1994. The Bobcats went 12-2 at home during the 2005-06 regular slate and
will have the luxury of hosting a Chippewa club that has dropped 11 of its last
12 outings. Central Michigan, which last won this event
in 2003, is a dreadful 1-13 on the road this year.

NBA

Heat-Bobcats

Charlotte Observer

Miami All-Star guard Dwyane Wade sat out Saturday’s close win against Atlanta
with a sore right wrist, but the Heat listed him Sunday as a starter tonight.
Although its last game was surprisingly close (a two-point victory against a
struggling Hawks team), the Heat has won eight straight and is cruising to the
Southeast Division title. The Bobcats
are coming off a 12-day, six-game Western Conference trip, and coach Bernie
Bickerstaff isn’t sure how long it will take players to restore their energy.
The length of the trip—originally seven games, but a Saturday date against the
Hornets was moved to January—was needed to accommodate the circus and the CIAA tournament at the arena. Bickerstaff says he doesn’t
anticipate trips of similar length in future seasons. Upon reflection,
Bickerstaff wishes the Bobcats hadn’t made Monday available to the NBA for a
home game, since this requires such a quick turnaround.

Villanova-Syracuse

NY Times

Gerry McNamara, who plays the game with an almost
unmatched intensity, has never missed a game at Syracuse
— his streak of 129 starts is tops in the nation. But now the end of his
college career is near. McNamara will play his last regular-season home game
today against No. 4 Villanova, and he will be sent off in style. For the first
time in its 26-year history, the Carrier Dome is sold out, which means the
Orange’s N.C.A.A. record for largest on-campus crowd
to see a college basketball game — 33,199, set a season ago against Notre Dame
— will be eclipsed.

Fordham-Temple

Press Notes

The teams are currently entangled in a four-way tie for
fifth place in the conference standings.
With help and a win, Temple
can secure the fourth seed in the A-10 Tournament which begins Wednesday in Cincinnati
and the all-important first round bye that goes with it. The Owls bring an 11-1
record at the Liacouras
Center
into the contest.

Denver-Middle Tennessee
State

Press Notes

The Pioneers (15-14, 7-8) travel to Murfreesboro,
Tenn.
, for the 2006 Sun Belt Conference
Championship hosted by Middle Tennessee. Denver’s first game will be on Sunday,
March 5 at 11 a.m. MT. DU is the No. 3 West Seed and
will play East No. 2 Middle Tennessee (16-11, 8-6). The Pioneers are riding a
two-game losing streak into the SBC Championship. DU
lost at South Alabama, 74-65 and at Troy,
76-68. The Blue Raiders are riding a three-game winning streak into the SBC
Championship. MT defeated Arkansas-Little Rock, 68-58, Western
Kentucky
, 80-74 and Florida International, 82-58. The Blue Raiders
have won eight of their last 10 games. The Pioneers are 2-12 on the road and MT
is 8-3 at home. DU and MT meet for the eighth time
with the Blue Raiders leading the series, 4-3, but Denver
has won the last two meetings, including a 72-62 victory earlier this year in Murfreesboro.
DU is 2-2 all-time in the Murphy
Center
.

Arkansas-Georgia

Baxter Bulletin

Three rollicking full houses at home and even the
opposition full house at Tennessee
energized Stan Heath’s Razorbacks in their current
4-game winning streak. The energy surges Arkansas
to a virtual NCAA Tournament lock — their first since 2001 — at 20-8 overall,
9-6 in the SEC West. Football crazy Georgia
doesn’t get all that fired up about the Bulldogs’ basketball anyway, especially
when the Dawgs are but 15-13, 5-10 in the SEC East
like now. So the Razorbacks can expect a paltry, apathetic assembly looking on
much like when Ole Miss (14-14, 4-11 in the SEC West) upset them 73-70 at
Oxford, Miss. Arkansas’ lack of energy at Mississippi matched its surroundings
in its last loss before the four-game winning streak. “That energy in the
building,” Arkansas coach Stan
Heath said, “sometimes even if it is not for you — really gives them fuel in
their fire. So I do worry about that a little bit. We’ve got to find a way to
correct it.” It probably doesn’t help Arkansas
that some may regard this merely as a marking time game before Thursday’s start
to the SEC Tournament in Nashville.

Senior Day games (last home game). The Deacons beat Georgia Tech on Senior Day
last season, 98-91. NC State spoiled Senior Day in 2004.

Wyoming-Utah

Press Notes

The Runnin’ Utes (12-14, 5-10 MWC) close out the regular season against the Wyoming
Cowboys (12-16, 5-10 MWC). Utah,
tied for sixth place in the Mountain West Conference with Wyoming,
has lost its last four games. The Utes are coming off a 69-65 loss to TCU on Wednesday night in Fort Worth,
Texas
. Before having last weekend off, Utah
lost at UNLV, 65-59, on Feb 22. Utah
is 9-5 at home overall this season and 3-4 in conference play. Utah
has lost its last four games by an average of five points, including one
overtime game. Utah is playing
one redshirt freshman and four other newcomers. Through 26 games, 58.0 percent
of the Utes’ points, 48.4 percent of their rebounds, 52.1 percent of their
assists, and 54.2 percent of their minutes played have come from first-year players. The Utes are 12-4 when holding their opponents
to 68 points or less this season and 0-10 when allowing 69 points or more. Over
the last nine games, Utah has
held its opponents to an average of 61.3 points per game on 40.6 percent
shooting from the field and 32.5 percent from three-point range. The Utes have
owned a 33.8 to 27.3 edge in rebounds per game, outworking all nine teams on
the glass. However, Utah has also
had a -4.6 turnover ratio.

Ga Tech-Clemson

Press Notes

Clemson is 25-8 on Senior Day since 1972, including a 15-8
record against ACC teams.  Clemson’s 17
wins so far this season are already the most by a Clemson team since 1998-99
when Clemson finished the season with 20.
Clemson has made 44 of its last 99 three-point goals over four games and
the Tigers are averaging 83.3 points per game over those three contests.
Clemson made 11-14 three-point shots in the second half in its win at Virginia
Tech on Wednesday.
