Central Florida<\/st1:place> (1-2) comes into
\nthe game with an offensive line that has 108 cumulative starts, fifth best
\namong Division I-A teams. Southern Miss (2-1) is 10^{th<\/sup> with 101. Southern
\nMiss\u2019 fast start has a lot to do with its line play. The unit, with four
\nreturning starters, has not allowed a sack through three games this season. And
\nthe group\u2019s<\/span> work revitalizing a stale running game led
\nto an upset of North Carolina<\/st1:PlaceName> State<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place>
\non Sept. 16. The Knights are off to a slow start with their only victory coming
\nagainst Division I-AA Villanova. And the Eagles might also be looking back to
\nlast year\u2019s game in Hattiesburg<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>.
\nSouthern Miss won 52-31 and led 45-7 at halftime after Central
\nFlorida<\/st1:place> turned the ball over six times in the first half.<\/o:p><\/p>\n}
But that was the only conference loss for a team that went
\n8-5 after 17 consecutive losses. UCF<\/span> is expected to
\nwin the league\u2019s East Division with 18 returning starters, including
\nquarterback Steven Moffett.<\/p>\n
Leader Call<\/h3>\n
Southern Miss head<\/span> coach Jeff
\nBower said that junior defensive end Sean Merrill (ankle) practiced some
\nSaturday, but was still limited. Bower also said that sophomore linebacker
\nMitch Craft tweaked his hamstring and was limited in practice Saturday, but he
\nwill be fine. <\/p>\n
Mississippi<\/st1:place><\/st1:State> Press<\/o:p><\/h3>\n
UCF<\/span> head coach George O\u2019Leary
\nsaid one way the Golden Knights could start getting back on track is putting
\nthe ball more in their playmaker\u2019s hands. UCF<\/span>
\nquarterback Stephen Moffett (48-0f-98 for 518 yards and four touchdowns) and
\nwide receiver Mike Walker (24 catches, 243 yards, touchdowns) are UCF\u2019s<\/span> two biggest playmakers, however, O\u2019Leary wants to see
\nmore production from his entire offense, especially against a good defense like
\nSouthern Miss. <\/p>\n

In its first regular season in C-USA a year ago, UCF<\/span> was 7-1 in league play, with its lone conference
