For the first time this preseason, several Dolphins
\nplayers sported the jersey numbers worn by their counterparts on the Carolina
\nPanthers at practice to prepare for Thursday\u2019s exhibition.At<\/span>
\nMonday\u2019s practice Dolphins receivers Fred Gibson, Marcus Vick and Jamall<\/span> Broussard were doing their best imitations of
\nPanthers receivers Keyshawn Johnson, Steve Smith and Keary<\/span>
\nColbert. Running back Kay-Jay Harris was wearing William DeAngelo\u2019s<\/span>
\nNo. 34, and defensive end Ben Ishola<\/span> had on No. 90
\nfor Julius Peppers. \u201cWe go out there and have more of an in-season practice,
\nsome stuff against each other, some stuff against the scout team,\u201d Saban<\/span> said. \u201cEverybody is kind of a little bit out of
\nsynch, but I was really pleased with the way the players responded as the

\npracticed on a limited basis Tuesday and could play against the Panthers. Other
\nplayers who practiced on a limited basis Tuesday were wide receiver Kelly

\n(ankle) and Jason Rader (undisclosed). Guards Seth McKinney (neck) and Joe
\nToledo (knee) didn\u2019t practice and won\u2019t play against Carolina<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>.

The last time Daunte<\/span> Culpepper
\nfaced the Carolina Panthers he was hauled off the field with three torn knee

\nof America Stadium as he tries to continue a successful comeback with the Miami
\nDolphins. Culpepper was traded from Minnesota<\/st1:place><\/st1:State>
\nto Miami<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> in March. He has completed
\n8 of 11 passes for 88 yards and no interceptions in two preseason games with
\nthe Dolphins. And the knee he had surgically repaired 10 months ago has held up
\nso far.
\nBut Carolina<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> (2-0) will provide his
\nbiggest test yet. The Panthers\u2019 first-team defense has allowed only three
\npoints in three quarters against Buffalo<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>
\nand Jacksonville<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>. Carolina<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>\u2019s

\nsparingly last season are vying to be Ronnie
\nBrown\u2019s <\/span>primary backup, but Saban<\/span> said the
\nteam could look elsewhere for that role.<\/p>\n
