USC QB Matt Barkley suffered a bruised shoulder in the win over <\/span><\/font>Ohio<\/st1:PlaceName> State<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place>. His is probable for the game at Washington<\/st1:place><\/st1:State>. <\/p>\n

Tom Brady will finally see some regular-season action on Monday night as the Patriots play their opener at home against the division-rival Bills. The Pats, who missed the playoffs last year with Brady out of action, are pegged as big 11-point favorites for Monday night, with the total for the game set at 47 points. Wes Welker (knee) was listed as QUESTIONABLE on the injury report for New England<\/st1:place>, but is expected to play. Bills RB Marshawn<\/span> Lynch is out until Week 4 as he serves a suspension, so he won’t see action in Terrell Owens’ Buffalo<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> debut.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the second part of the Monday night doubleheader has San Diego<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> at Oakland<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>, with the Chargers set as 9.5-point road favorites (and the total at 43 points). The Raiders’ most recent drama was put to an end on Saturday, as newly-acquired DE Richard Seymour finally reported to the team – he’ll be in action on Monday night. Darren McFadden was named Oakland<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>‘s starting RB earlier in the week. DE Jacques Cesaire<\/span> was listed as QUESTIONABLE for the Chargers for Monday’s opener; his calf injury could keep him out Monday night.<\/p>\n

Jason Hammel<\/span> (8-7, 4.31 ERA) will go up against Tim Lincecum<\/span> (13-5, 2.34 ERA) on Monday night as the <\/span><\/font>Rockies<\/st1:place> begin a key National League series on the road against the Giants. Righthander<\/span> Hammel<\/span> took a no-decision against the Reds in his most recent start, giving up two earned runs over 7 1-3 innings of work. Righthander<\/span> Lincecum<\/span> was tagged with a hard-luck loss by the Phillies in his last outing; Lincecum<\/span> gave up two runs over seven innings, while fanning 11.<\/p>\n

Also on the Senior Circuit slate for Monday: <\/span>Houston<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:City> at <\/span>Cincinnati<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:City>, <\/span>Milwaukee<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:City> at the Cubs, <\/span>Arizona<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:State> at <\/span>San Diego<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:City>, <\/span>Pittsburgh<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:City> at the Dodgers, and <\/span>Florida<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:State> at <\/span>St. Louis<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:City>.<\/span> The Marlins will go with Ricky Nolasco (11-8, 5.23 ERA) in that last contest, while the Cardinals counter with Todd Wellemeyer (7-9, 5.62 ERA).  Righthander<\/span> Nolasco is coming off consecutive wins over the Mets and Braves.
