Connecticut<\/span><\/font><\/b><\/st1:place><\/st1:State> vs. <\/span><\/font>Ohio<\/span><\/font><\/st1:place><\/st1:State><\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/h1>\n

Handicapping notes: The Huskies will employ a no-huddle offense, which is a drastic change from previous years. Star running back Donald Brown is gone, but strong armed QB Zach Frazier and speedy skilled position players are waiting in the wings. Brown is one of four Huskies chosen in the first two runs of the NFL draft. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Andre Dixon went down the tubes last year following rushing for 828 yards last year. He was second team All-Big East and all reports are that he again has his priorities straight. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

The aforesaid Frazier, a Notre Dame transfer, is the most talented QB UConn has had since Dan Orlovsky<\/span>. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

The Huskies return six starters from a defense that ranked sixth nationally. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Against the spread records: The Huskies are 13-6 as favorites. UConn is also on a 29-14 tear in non-conference games. The Bobcats are 15-5 on grass. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

LSU vs. <\/span><\/font><\/b>Washington<\/span><\/font><\/st1:place><\/st1:State><\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/h1>\n

Many experts expect Washington QB Jake Locker to thrive in new coach Steve Sarkisian’s<\/span> system. Locker missed most of last year with a thumb injury. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

The Huskies have lost 14 straight games. He is facing a rebuilt LSU defense under John Chavis<\/span>. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Following a disappointing season, the Bengal Tigers have a new defensive coordinator, and Jordan Jefferson becomes the full-time QB after replacing Jarrett Lee late last year. Lee threw 16 interceptions against just 14 touchdowns before being replaced. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

It also marks the debut of heralded freshman Russell Shepard for LSU. Shepard is a slash and wildcat jack of all trades. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

LSU gave up more than 30 points five times last year in a year they lost five games. <\/span><\/font>Washington<\/st1:place><\/st1:State> was worse allowing 38.6 points per game. They return eight starters on defense. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

LSU has won 19 straight games outside the conference, but this is the furthest the team has ever traveled. However 15,000 LSU fans have made the trip. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Against the spread records: The Tigers are 9-2 on turf and 20-of-28 in non-conference games. However they have dropped six straight as double digit favorites. The Huskies are on skids of 18-39 overall, 17-39 at home, 0-8 as an underdog and 0-7 as double digit dogs.\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Western Michigan<\/span><\/font><\/b><\/st1:place> vs. <\/span><\/font>Michigan<\/span><\/font><\/st1:place><\/st1:State><\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/h1>\n

Michigan<\/span><\/font><\/st1:place><\/st1:State> tries to fight distractions of accusations that they violated NCAA rules about how long the team can practice and speculation that it’s a sign that head coach<\/span> Rich Rodriquez has lost the locker room. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

WMU<\/span><\/font><\/span> has beaten an automatic bowl qualifier each of the last three years, with a Big 10 team being a victim each of the last two. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

Against the spread records: The Broncos are 7-15 overall, while the Wolverines are 8-20 as home favorites. They’ve dropped seven straight as favorites overall. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

San Jose<\/span><\/font><\/b><\/st1:PlaceName> <\/span><\/font>State<\/span><\/font><\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place> vs. USC<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/h1>\n

The Trojans start a true freshman QB against a <\/span><\/font>San Jose<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> team that ranked 10th<\/sup> nationally against the pass and 11th<\/sup> in sacks last year. The Spartans though lost two CBs and a DL to the NFL but has seven returning starters on defense. Their coach Dick Tomey<\/span> is famous for building the famed Arizona Desert Swarm defenses of the 1990s. San Jose<\/st1:PlaceName> State<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place> will blitz the freshman often. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

Against the spread records: The Spartans are on a 0-5 skid, while the Trojans are 23-6 the last 29 outside the Pac 10. <\/span><\/font>Southern Cal<\/st1:place> is 35-17 their last 52 at home. <\/o:p><\/p>\n
