As the NFL odds<\/a> start to take over the attention in the online betting<\/a> world, there are some great baseball races that are going to go down to the wire in September. One of those races will be the Nationl<\/span> League Wild Card, which features two NL West teams that are neck-in-neck. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

The Colorado Rockies had a two-game lead on the Giants in the Wild Card race entering the weekend but after winning two of the first three games, the <\/span><\/font>Rockies<\/st1:place> lead has expanded to two games. If the Giants can win tonight, the lead will be back to where it started on Friday.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Surprisingly, the <\/span><\/font>Rockies<\/st1:place> and Giants have both caught up to Los Angeles Dodgers, who at one point had an insurmountable lead. The Rockies<\/st1:place> are just 3.5 games back while the Giants are 6.5.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Some people might not believe that Jason Marquis not only has 14 wins on the season but is tied for the National League league<\/span> in that category. While Marquis will attempt to become the NL’s first 15-game winner, he’s had two very different results against the Giants this season.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Marquis will take on Zito<\/span>, who may be one of the most overpaid players in sports but at least he’s been pitching somewhat to standard recently. The Giants have won five of his last seven starts, mostly in part to his solid pitching. Zito<\/span> has given up just 11 earned runs in his last 42 innings pitched (2.36 ERA) while striking out 34 batters and walking just 12. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

In his only start against the <\/span><\/font>Rockies<\/st1:place> this year,<\/span> Zito<\/span> pitched seven shutout innings while allowing just three baserunners<\/span>. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

Although the <\/span><\/font>Rockies<\/st1:place> are at home, the Giants need the win a little more just to keep pace. Behind Zito<\/span>, look for them to get the job done.<\/o:p><\/p>\n
