Zack Greinke (10-6, 2.08 ERA) will take on Scott Kazmir (5-6, 6.22 ERA) on Monday afternoon as the Royals and Rays close out their series in Tampa Bay. Righthander<\/span> Greinke has allowed three or fewer earned runs in each of his last seven starts, but Kansas City<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> went 2-5 in those games. Lefthander Kazmir got back on track for Tampa<\/st1:PlaceName> Bay<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place> last time out, surrendering just one earned run over seven innings in a win. That was Kazmir’s<\/span> first victory since way back on May 9.<\/p>\n

There are just two other games on the American League schedule, with Texas<\/st1:place><\/st1:State> at Oakland<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> and Baltimore<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> at Detroit<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>. The Orioles will go with Chris Tillman (0-0, 5.79 ERA) in that contest. Righthander<\/span> Tillman made his Major League debut against the Royals last time out, giving up three runs (and three home runs) on seven hits in 4 2-3 innings of work. The Tigers will counter with Justin Verlander (12-5, 3.16 ERA), who topped the Rangers and White Sox in his last two outings.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Lefthander Hampton was bombed by the Cubs in his last trip to the mound, surrendering nine earned runs on eight hits over just four innings.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere around the National League on Monday it’ll be Washington<\/st1:place><\/st1:State> at Pittsburgh<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>, the Cubs at Cincinnati<\/st1:City>, Arizona<\/st1:State><\/st1:place> at the Mets, Atlanta<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> at San Diego<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>, and Milwaukee<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> at the Dodgers. Manny Parra<\/span> (5-8, 6.50 ERA) will take the hill for the Brewers in that matchup; lefthander Parra<\/span> has allowed nine earned runs over his last 11 innings of work. Clayton Kershaw (8-5, 2.76 ERA) will get the ball for the Dodgers; the righthander<\/span> hasn’t been tagged with a loss since his June 10 start.<\/o:p><\/p>\n
