World Series of Poker events are underway and as usual <\/span><\/font>Bodog<\/span><\/font><\/a> <\/span><\/font>is at the forefront. \u00a0<\/span>The betting news<\/span><\/font><\/a> section will also have updates not to mention live reports about the full legalization of online gambling. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

While the smell of Ben Gay and Old Spice waft their way toward media row and the high-pitched whine of electric scooters echoes through hallways of the <\/span><\/font>Rio<\/span><\/font><\/st1:place>, a younger and noticeably talented field has joined the Senior<\/span> event participants in the Amazon Room. The <\/span>$10,000 World Championship Pot Limit Holdem<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong> <\/span>event has kicked off today and the field is littered with familiar faces and names.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Among the players who have turned out to play are <\/span>Alex Jacob, Amnon<\/span> Filippi<\/span>, Barry Greenstein, Gavin Smith, Erick Lindgren, Joe Sebok<\/span>, Lex<\/span> Veldhuis<\/span>, Rafe<\/span> Furst<\/span>, Scotty Nguyen, Vanessa Rousso<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong> <\/span>and, you know what, just a whole lot more. This should be a very interesting event to watch, so stay tuned for more updates.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Elsewhere at the <\/span>2009 WSOP<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong>, the $5,000 No Limit Holdem<\/span> Shootout is wrapping up, but you wouldn’t recognize any of the names still standing\u2026. so, next.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

In the $2,500 Mixed event, there are still many notable players left among the 14 remaining players, including Bodog<\/span> Poker room regular and <\/span>online poker<\/span><\/font><\/a> <\/span>pro <\/span>Jon “PearlJammer<\/span>” Turner<\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong>, who is currently in second. Also still playing are <\/span>Jimmy “gobboboy<\/span>” Fricke, Layne Flack, Dario Alioto<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong> <\/span>and <\/span>Blair Rodman<\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong>. First place pays out and impressive $241,637.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

A <\/span><\/font><\/span>strong and talented field of 295 players came out for the <\/span>$10,000 Pot Limit Omaha World Championship<\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong> <\/span>two days ago at the <\/span>2009 WSOP<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong>, and at the end of play last night there were only 25 players left, with Bodog<\/span> Poker pro <\/span>David Williams<\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong><\/a> <\/span>among them.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Those players return to the Amazon Room in just a few hours to battle it out for the $679,379 first-place prize. There are several players who will be looking to secure their first WSOP<\/span> bracelets, including Day 1 and Day 2 chip leader Noah Schwartz, who has built up a monstrous lead with almost double the chip stack of second place’s Marcus Golser<\/span>. Those seeking another WSOP<\/span> bracelet to add to their collections include <\/span>Barry Greenstein, Josh Arieh<\/span>, Howard Lederer<\/span>, Chau<\/span> Giang<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong> <\/span>and <\/span>Nenad<\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong><\/span> Medic<\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Williams has a below average stack but won several key hands toward the end of play last night to make it through to Day 3. With the wild swings that can happen in Pot Limit Omaha<\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong>, the event really still is open to anyone, so there’s no counting anyone out.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n
