Righthander<\/span> Shields picked up a no-decision against the Nationals in his last outing, surrendering four earned runs over his 6 1-3 innings.<\/p>\n

Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter (4-1, 1.59 ERA) will face the Royals’ Brian Bannister (5-3, 4.10 ERA) in their matchup in Kansas City<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> on Saturday afternoon. Righthander<\/span> Carpenter was tagged with his first loss of the season in his last trip to the mound, giving up three earned runs over seven innings against the Indians. Righthander<\/span> Bannister pitched a gem last time out against the Reds, surrendering just a single unearned run on four hits over eight innings of work.<\/p>\n

As well, the Los Angeles<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> teams will pit brother vs. brother on Saturday night, with the Dodgers’ Jeff Weaver (3-1, 3.72 ERA) taking on the Angels’ Jered<\/span> Weaver (7-2, 2.08 ERA) in Anaheim<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>. Righthander<\/span> Jeff Weaver has bounced between the bullpen and the rotation for the Dodgers this season; in his last outing against the Padres he tossed 2 1-3 scoreless innings. Righthander<\/span> Jered<\/span> Weaver has won four straight games, tossing a shutout against the Padres in his start last Sunday.<\/p>\n

Also on the MLB schedule for Saturday: Cleveland at the Cubs, Milwaukee at Detroit, Baltimore at Philadelphia, Toronto at Washington, Atlanta at Boston, the Yankees at Florida, Houston at Minnesota, the White Sox at Cincinnati, Texas at San Francisco, Oakland at San Diego, and Arizona at Seattle.
