16-7 THIS WEEK IN FOOTBALL, WINNING WEEK 5-OF-6 IN FOOTBALL LONG CLINCHED; BOTH MNF SIDES<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/b><\/p>\n

Oh baby. All we do is win. Promises made, promises delivered has had winning weeks 5-of-6 in football so far. We finish this week 18-7 as we nail both Monday Night Football sides Vikings-Packers and Broncos-Raiders. The first game is a Wise Guy! We added MLB as well. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Yesterday, we nail Wise Guy plays on blowouts <\/span><\/font>Pittsburgh<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> and Philadelphia<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>. We are 6-2 in the NFL regular season, which is smack-dab that norm. It’s the last day for our full-season passes. Denver-Oakland UNDER 41<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/i><\/b><\/h2>\n

Both teams are depleted at wide receiver. \u00a0<\/span>As reported in the Press-Democrat: “The Raiders’ receiving corps was already thin before Drew Carter tore his left ACL in the third exhibition game. He’ll miss the entire season. That left the team with Ronald Curry, Javon<\/span> Walker and a collection of young guys with little NFL experience to their credit.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Curry, though he lacks game-breaking speed, has been a valuable part of the Raiders’ offense for several years. <\/span><\/font>Walker<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>, however, has been plagued by injuries, off-field peculiarities and poor conditioning; few are counting on him having a huge season.”<\/o:p><\/p>\n

The newspaper further states, “The Raiders also have Johnnie Lee Higgins, Todd Watkins and Chaz<\/span> Schilens<\/span> for JaMarcus Russell to throw to. Their combined NFL reception total: six catches, all by Higgins last year. Schilens<\/span> is a rookie, and Watkins is getting his first NFL action after bouncing around a few teams.” <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Finally, in Phil Barber’s article he states, “And the situation is nearly as dire for the Broncos.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

They have one top-flight receiver, big Brandon Marshall, who exploded for 102 catches and 1,325 yards last season. The league, however, suspended <\/span><\/font>Marshall<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> for violating its code of conduct after he was arrested three times in 2007 and 2008. The suspension was cut from three games to one, but he’ll still sit this one out.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Jay Cutler’s other options at wide receiver include a couple of solid possession receivers in Brandon Stokley<\/span> and Keary<\/span> Colbert, veteran Darrell Jackson (let go by the 49ers after he dropped numerous passes in 2007), rookie Eddie Royal and Edell<\/span> Shepherd, who has 13 receptions in four NFL seasons.”<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Conversely, as reported in the Mercury News, the cornerbacks are top notch. “<\/span><\/font>Denver<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>‘s Champ Bailey is the best cornerback in the NFL, the Raiders’ DeAngelo Hall says.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

But when it comes to the top cornerback tandem, Hall and Nnamdi<\/span> Asomugha<\/span> get the nod over the Broncos’ Bailey and Dre<\/span>‘ Bly<\/span>, as well as the league’s 30 other pairs, Hall and the Raiders say.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Raiders<\/span><\/font><\/span> defensive coordinator Rob Ryan doesn’t hesitate when asked if Hall and Asomugha<\/span> merit top billing. But why stop there? Throw in nickel back Stanford Routt,<\/span> and the Raiders claim to have the best trio of cornerbacks.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

‘We’re going to prove it Monday night,’ Ryan said.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Bly<\/span><\/font><\/span> begs to differ. He said the longevity and statistics associated with Bly<\/span> and Bailey make any comparison an open-and-shut case.”<\/o:p><\/p>\n

As Bob Warner of ScoresOddsPicks.com<\/span><\/font><\/a> tells us, “Simply put, it’s two of the best DBs<\/span> corps are going against two of the weakest WR<\/span> corps.”<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

The respective quarterbacks are in the bottom 10 as well. We see a lot of running and a lot of punting. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
