That gives Anderson<\/st1:PLACE><\/st1:CITY> some breathing room; Brady Quinn might be the team’s QB of the future, but he’ll have to seriously outplay the incumbent Anderson<\/st1:PLACE><\/st1:CITY> over the next few weeks to even get a sniff at the team’s starting job for Week 1 of the season.<\/o:P><\/p>\n

Eli Manning led the Giants over the heavily-favored Patriots in the Super Bowl last season, so he pretty much has the team’s starting quarterback job wrapped up for life now. Manning, though, will want top target Plaxico Burress healthy and effective for the start of the regular season; Burress has been nursing an ankle injury for the last few weeks, and his practice time has been extremely limited so far during camp.<\/o:P><\/p>\n

The oddsmakers have pegged the Giants as a 2-point home favorite in this contest, with the game’s total sitting at 35.5 points. The kickoff is scheduled to take place at 8:00pm ET<\/st1:TIME>, with ESPN providing the coverage. The Browns lost their preseason opener 24-20 to the Jets, while the Giants fell 13-10 to the Lions in their first exhibition contest.<\/p>\n
