Drexel is 16-5 on the season overall while the Monarchs<br \/>\nbegin play with a 15-7 record. This will be the second meeting of the year<br \/>\nbetween the two schools. Old Dominion defeated the Dragons earlier this season<br \/>\nin <st1:City><st1:place>Norfolk<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>, 84-57. <span\nclass=SpellE>ODU<\/span> made 10 three-pointers in the game and shot 59 percent<br \/>\nfrom the floor. Drexel committed 15 turnovers in the game and shot just<br \/>\n3-for-15 from behind the three-point arc. Old Dominion has won three straight<br \/>\ngames and five of its last seven. Drexel has won four of its last five,<br \/>\nincluding a 68-59 win at Northeastern on Monday night.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<h2><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>South Alabama-New <\/span><st1:City><st1:place><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt'>Orleans<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:City><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Press Notes <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=MsoBodyText>It is Homecoming Week at the <st1:place><st1:PlaceType>University<\/st1:PlaceType><br \/>\nof <st1:PlaceName>New Orleans<\/st1:PlaceName><\/st1:place>, and the Privateer <span\nclass=GramE>basketball<\/span> team gets to celebrate by hosting one of the<br \/>\nhottest teams in the Sun Belt Conference. <br \/>\n<span class=SpellE>UNO<\/span> will host Sun Belt Conference leader <st1:place>South<br \/>\nAlabama<\/st1:place>. The game will feature a <st1:place>South Alabama<\/st1:place><br \/>\nteam that has won eight straight games. The Jaguars (15-7, 9-2 Sun Belt) are<br \/>\ncoming off a 90-89 overtime win over North Texas after defeating<br \/>\nLouisiana-Monroe two days earlier despite missing three suspended starters. <st1:country-region><st1:place>USA<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region><br \/>\nhas also been boosted by 6-9 forward Ernest Little. Little, who became eligible<br \/>\non Dec. 16 after transferring from <span class=SpellE>UAB<\/span>, has averaged<br \/>\n12.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. He missed the <st1:place>North Texas<\/st1:place><br \/>\ngame due to personal reasons, and his status for Thursday\u2019s contest is unknown.<br \/>\nFor the Privateers (10-11, 6-4 Sun Belt), the game begins a busy February. <span\nclass=SpellE>UNO<\/span> will play eight games during the month and will play<br \/>\nfour of the next five on the road. <span class=SpellE>UNO<\/span> has lost three<br \/>\nstraight to the Jaguars but has won five of the last six games in <st1:City><st1:place>New<br \/>\nOrleans<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>St. Louis-St. Joseph\u2019s<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>College Publisher<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=MsoBodyText>The Hawks are caught in a tough stretch of games and are<br \/>\nfinding themselves playing good teams night in and night out. Three of the four<br \/>\ngames were against conference opponents that were the preseason top three and<br \/>\nthe fourth game was an always tough city opponent. St. Joe\u2019s had a very good<br \/>\nwin against Xavier, let one slip on the road to George Washington, had another<br \/>\nbig win against Big 5 adversary Penn, and now the Hawks must battle <st1:City><st1:place>Saint<br \/>\nLouis<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> at the Alumni <span class=SpellE>Fieldhouse<\/span>.<br \/>\nThe Hawks lost four players from last year\u2019s team, including the top three<br \/>\nscorers. No excuses are being made for St. Joe\u2019s, but the <span class=SpellE>Billikens<\/span><br \/>\ncome in with an extreme edge in experience. <st1:City><st1:place>Saint Louis<\/st1:place><\/st1:City><br \/>\ncomes into this game struggling inside the conference. To this day they have<br \/>\nposted a below .500 record of 3-4 and are looking to even it out against the<br \/>\nHawks. Devastating losses to <st1:City><st1:place>Temple<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>,<br \/>\nFordham, St. Bonaventure, and Duquesne are what set back <st1:City><st1:place>St.<br \/>\nLouis<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>. <br \/>\nAlthough the <span class=SpellE>Billikens<\/span> have dropped some games<br \/>\nagainst a few of the weaker teams in the conference, they do have some<br \/>\nimpressive wins. Wins against Xavier and <st1:State><st1:place>Rhode Island<\/st1:place><\/st1:State><br \/>\nbolstered their record and showed that the <span class=SpellE>Billikens<\/span><br \/>\ndo have the talent and ability to succeed. Also, <st1:City><st1:place>Saint<br \/>\nLouis<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> has gone 13-7 in the season, three of those<br \/>\nlosses coming to top 25 teams in the country and the other four against<br \/>\nAtlantic 10 conference teams.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/p>\n<h2><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Washington State-Arizona<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>LA Times<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=MsoBodyText>Despite losing a stunning five of their last seven games,<br \/>\nthe Wildcats\u2019 Ratings Percentage Index ranking is still No. 6, so Lute Olson\u2019s<br \/>\n22-year NCAA tournament appearance streak appears fine. Still, Arizona has<br \/>\nrarely looked as bad as it has during its recent offensive funk, going one for<br \/>\n23 from three-point range against North Carolina, and shooting less than 40%<br \/>\nfrom the field in three of the last four games. At 14-6, <st1:State><st1:place>Arizona<\/st1:place><\/st1:State><br \/>\nlooks tired and beaten. You can blame the <span class=SpellE>nonconference<\/span><br \/>\nschedule Olson made, which is rated the most difficult in the country, just<br \/>\nahead of UCLA\u2019s. Or you can blame the luck of the draw with the Pac-10<br \/>\nschedule, which already has taken <st1:State><st1:place>Arizona<\/st1:place><\/st1:State><br \/>\nto <st1:place><st1:City>Washington<\/st1:City>, <st1:State>Washington<\/st1:State><\/st1:place><br \/>\nState, USC and UCLA, handing the Wildcats three of their four Pac-10 losses on<br \/>\nthe road. Other factors seem to be at work too, though. There\u2019s <st1:State><st1:place>Arizona<\/st1:place><\/st1:State>\u2019s<br \/>\nlack of depth: All five starters average more than 31 minutes a game, and point<br \/>\nguard Mustafa <span class=SpellE>Shakur<\/span> averages more than 35. The<br \/>\nemergence of freshman forward Jordan Hill, who logged major minutes and made a<br \/>\nbig contribution the last two games, could help, along with the return of<br \/>\nforward Bret <span class=SpellE>Brielmaier<\/span>, who had been out after minor<br \/>\nknee surgery. Leading scorer Marcus Williams is expected to play after being<br \/>\nsuspended for unspecified reasons for the <st1:place><st1:PlaceName>Arizona<\/st1:PlaceName><br \/>\n<st1:PlaceType>State<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place> game and missing much of the <st1:State><st1:place>North<br \/>\nCarolina<\/st1:place><\/st1:State> game because of a sprained ankle.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<h2><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Duke-Virginia<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Scout<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=MsoBodyText>The early season setbacks against Virginia Tech and<br \/>\nGeorgia Tech are now distant memories for this young Blue Devil team after<br \/>\nreeling off five consecutive wins including decisions over Clemson and <st1:place><st1:PlaceName>Boston<\/st1:PlaceName><br \/>\n<st1:PlaceType>College<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place> &#8211; two teams that were above<br \/>\nDuke in the standings at tip off. Meanwhile the Cavaliers have surprised many<br \/>\nwith their run to a 5-2 start in ACC play. After all this was the same <st1:State><st1:place>Virginia<\/st1:place><\/st1:State><br \/>\nteam that lost to Appalachian State in <st1:place>Puerto Rico<\/st1:place> in<br \/>\nDecember. After losing to <st1:State><st1:place>North Carolina<\/st1:place><\/st1:State><br \/>\nand at <st1:place><st1:PlaceName>Boston<\/st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType>College<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place>,<br \/>\nthe Cavaliers have dispatched <st1:State><st1:place>Maryland<\/st1:place><\/st1:State>,<br \/>\n<st1:place><st1:City>Wake Forest<\/st1:City>, <st1:State>NC<\/st1:State><\/st1:place><br \/>\nState, and Clemson by an average of 9.5 points per game. Duke enters the game<br \/>\nwith third year sophomore David McClure listed as questionable after the 6\u20196<br \/>\nwing fell to the ground with a hyper extended knee against <st1:place><st1:PlaceName>Boston<\/st1:PlaceName><br \/>\n<st1:PlaceType>College<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place> on Sunday night. Meanwhile<br \/>\nthe Cavaliers are looking to get a shot in the arm with the return of 6\u20199<br \/>\njunior post player Ryan <span class=SpellE>Pettinella<\/span>, who suffered a<br \/>\ndislocated knee cap in the San Juan Shootout during the team\u2019s final game<br \/>\nagainst the University of Puerto Rico-<span class=SpellE>Mayaguez<\/span>. <span\nclass=SpellE>Pettinella<\/span> was in uniform for <span class=SpellE>UVa\u2019s<\/span><br \/>\nwin at Clemson on Sunday, but did not play. On Wednesday, he looked good in<br \/>\npractice, leading the way in sprints at the end of the session.
