Meanwhile, <st1:City><st1:place>Oakland<\/st1:place><\/st1:City><br \/>\nis currently mired in a seven-game losing streak after suffering a 20-0 setback<br \/>\nvs. <st1:City><st1:place>St. Louis<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> (12\/17). <st1:City><st1:place>Kansas<br \/>\nCity<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> will be attempting to win its eighth straight<br \/>\ncontest against a Raiders franchise has never lost eight consecutive games to a<br \/>\nsingle opponent. Although the Chiefs have won seven straight contests against <st1:City><st1:place>Oakland<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>,<br \/>\nall of those games have all been decided by six points or less, with KC winning<br \/>\nby an average margin of just 4.7 points per game. Chiefs <span class=SpellE>RB<\/span><br \/>\nLarry Johnson has scored the game-winning points with under two minutes<br \/>\nremaining in the fourth-quarter of the last two Chiefs-Raiders match-ups. <o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<h3><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>KC Star<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=MsoBodyText>KC John <span class=SpellE>Welbourn<\/span> and Dante Hall<br \/>\nreturned to practice. <span class=SpellE>Welbourn<\/span> probably will start at<br \/>\nright tackle against the Raiders.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<h3><st1:City><st1:place><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Sacramento<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:City><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt'> Bee<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=MsoBodyText><span lang=EN style='mso-ansi-language:EN'>Starting<br \/>\nquarterback Aaron Brooks sat out practice Thursday morning because of a sore<br \/>\nneck.<span style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  <\/span>Raiders coach Art Shell<br \/>\ncharacterized it as \u201ca little stiff, so there\u2019s some concern.\u201d He listed the<br \/>\nquarterback\u2019s status for Saturday\u2019s game against the Kansas City Chiefs as \u201cprobable.\u201d<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span lang=EN style='font-size:12.0pt;mso-ansi-language:EN'>CBB<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h1>\n<h2><span lang=EN style='font-size:12.0pt;mso-ansi-language:EN'>East<br \/>\nCarolina-South Florida<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span lang=EN style='font-size:12.0pt;mso-ansi-language:EN'>Sporting News<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=MsoBodyText>Last year, South Florida (8-4) made its first bowl<br \/>\nappearance since starting the program from scratch a decade ago, losing 14-0 to<br \/>\nNorth Carolina State in the <span class=SpellE>Meineke<\/span> Car Care Bowl. <st1:place>East<br \/>\nCarolina<\/st1:place> (7-5) hasn\u2019t been back to a bowl since a 64-61,<br \/>\ndouble-overtime loss to <st1:City><st1:place>Marshall<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> in<br \/>\nthe 2001 GMAC Bowl\u2014which remains the highest scoring bowl game in history. <st1:place>South<br \/>\nFlorida<\/st1:place> grabbed its own measure of respect with a 24-19 upset of<br \/>\nNo. 13 West Virginia in its regular-season finale. <st1:place>East Carolina<\/st1:place><br \/>\nis 0-3 in <st1:City><st1:place>Birmingham<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> and has lost<br \/>\nall nine of its games played in the state of <st1:State><st1:place>Alabama<\/st1:place><\/st1:State>,<br \/>\nincluding two GMAC Bowl defeats. The Pirates also lost 17-12 earlier this<br \/>\nseason at <span class=SpellE>UAB<\/span> after losing a late fumble inside the<br \/>\n5-yard line. <o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<h2><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>San Jose State-New <\/span><st1:country-region><st1:place><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt'>Mexico<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Observer Online<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=MsoBodyText>The Lobos (6-6) are seeking its first bowl victory in 45<br \/>\nyears and are playing in their fourth bowl in the past five years. They started<br \/>\nthe season with a 2-4 record, including a 17-6 loss to <st1:place><st1:PlaceName>Div.<\/st1:PlaceName><br \/>\n<st1:PlaceName>I-AA<\/st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceName>Portland<\/st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType>State<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place><br \/>\nin the season opener. <st1:place><st1:PlaceName>San Jose<\/st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType>State<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place><br \/>\nis playing in its first bowl game since 1990, when they beat <st1:place>Central<br \/>\nMichigan<\/st1:place> 48-24 in the California Raisin Bowl. The Spartans are 4-3<br \/>\nall-time in bowls, although this is their first postseason appearance outside<br \/>\nthe state of <st1:State><st1:place>California<\/st1:place><\/st1:State>. <st1:State><st1:place>New<br \/>\nMexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:State>\u2019s starting quarterback will either be senior<br \/>\nChris Nelson or redshirt freshman Donovan <span class=SpellE>Porterie<\/span>.<br \/>\nHead coach Rocky Long said the quarterback who looks the best this week will<br \/>\nget the starting nod. Subbing for an injured <span class=SpellE>Porterie<\/span>,<br \/>\nNelson started the final two regular-season games against <span class=SpellE>BYU<\/span><br \/>\nand <st1:place><st1:PlaceName>San Diego<\/st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType>State<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place>;<br \/>\nhe has started six times during the 2006 season. <span class=SpellE>Porterie<\/span><br \/>\nis expected to be full strength after suffering a sprained left ankle in the<br \/>\nthird quarter against <span class=SpellE>TCU<\/span> on Nov. 11. <span\nclass=SpellE>Porterie<\/span> won his first three career starts <span\nclass=GramE>between Oct. 14-28, all in come-from-behind fashion<\/span>. It\u2019s an<br \/>\nextremely young <st1:State><st1:place>New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:State> team<br \/>\nthat will take the field as just five seniors are definite starters, and that<br \/>\nincludes kicker Kenny Byrd. Only nine seniors see significant playing time:<br \/>\nfour on offense, four on defense and a kicker.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<h2><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Utah-Tulsa<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Examiner <\/span><st1:City><st1:place><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt'>Enterprise<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:City><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=MsoBodyText>Although not riding the giddy momentum of last year\u2019s<br \/>\nunexpected Conference <st1:country-region><st1:place>USA<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region><br \/>\nchampionship showing, <st1:City><st1:place>Tulsa<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> still brings<br \/>\na highly-respectable 8-4 record into the game. The Utes, who hail from the<br \/>\nMountain West Conference, finished at 7-5. <span class=SpellE>Sizewise<\/span>,<br \/>\nthe teams match up almost dead even in the pit. <st1:State><st1:place>Utah<\/st1:place><\/st1:State><br \/>\naverages nearly 300 pounds across its offensive line, going up against a <st1:City><st1:place>Tulsa<\/st1:place><\/st1:City><br \/>\ndefensive line which weighs out at approximately 293 pounds per man. Tulsa\u2019s<br \/>\noffensive line is just a pound or two bigger per man than the <span\nclass=SpellE>Utes.Tulsa<\/span> brings in a stronger rushing attack, which may<br \/>\nbe the difference in the <span class=SpellE>game.The<\/span> Golden Hurricane<br \/>\nhad rushed for 2,011 yards (167.6 yards per game), and are averaging 4.4 yards<br \/>\nper rush. <st1:State><st1:place>Utah<\/st1:place><\/st1:State>, on the other<br \/>\nhand, is averaging only 138.4 yards rushing per game. However, the Utes also<br \/>\nboast one of the nation\u2019s best run defenses, allowing just 107.3 yards per<br \/>\nouting. If the Golden Hurricane can mount an effective rushing game against <st1:State><st1:place>Utah<\/st1:place><\/st1:State>,<br \/>\nit could open up the floodgate for <st1:City><st1:place>Tulsa<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>\u2019s<br \/>\npassing attack. The Golden Hurricane were ranked 30<sup>th<\/sup> in the nation<br \/>\nin passing, led by junior triggerman Paul Smith.
