They are 0-3<br \/>\nsince his injury and he was Manning\u2019s favorite target. <o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<h3><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>NY Times<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=MsoBodyText>Manning has the worst third-down passer rating in the <span\nclass=SpellE>N.F.L<\/span>. His overall passer rating was a sturdy 87.5 when <span\nclass=SpellE>Toomer<\/span> went down. In the past three games, his rating is a<br \/>\ndismal 46.4, and he has had his worst performances of the season. The team\u2019s<br \/>\npassing offense, ranked 11<sup>th<\/sup> in the league three weeks ago, is now<br \/>\n18<sup>th<\/sup>. Ward, the AFC\u2019s eighth-leading receiver with 57 catches, will<br \/>\nmiss only his second start in nine seasons tomorrow after having arthroscopic<br \/>\nsurgery to remove bone chips in his left knee Monday. That means <span\nclass=SpellE><span style='mso-bidi-font-weight:bold'>Nate<\/span><\/span><span\nstyle='mso-bidi-font-weight:bold'> Washington<\/span>, who has probably<br \/>\ndistinguished himself more for his drops than his catches this season, will<br \/>\nmake his first start against the Buccaneers. Washington, an <span class=SpellE>undrafted<\/span><br \/>\nrookie in 2005, is fifth on the team with 27 catches, but he leads in yards per<br \/>\ncatch (16.1) and is tied for second behind Ward with three touchdowns. But <st1:State><st1:place>Washington<\/st1:place><\/st1:State><br \/>\ncould be tied with Ward with six touchdown catches if he didn\u2019t drop passes in<br \/>\nthe end zone in games against <st1:City><st1:place>Cincinnati<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>,<br \/>\n<st1:City><st1:place>New Orleans<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> and <st1:City><st1:place>Baltimore<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>.<br \/>\nOf course, there was also that costly \u201cflinch\u201d at the end of regulation that prevented<br \/>\nthe Steelers from attempting a winning field goal in <st1:City><st1:place>Atlanta<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=MsoBodyText>Tampa has given up 21 touchdown passes this season\u2014tied<br \/>\nwith Green Bay for most in the NFL\u2014but have only managed five interceptions,<br \/>\ntied with the Saints for fewest in the league. The Steelers will be without<br \/>\nWard and safety <span style='mso-bidi-font-weight:bold'>Troy <span\nclass=SpellE>Polamalu<\/span><\/span> (knee), but the rest of their injured<br \/>\nplayers are expected to play against the Buccaneers. The lone exception is wide<br \/>\nreceiver\/punt <span class=SpellE>returner<\/span> <span style='mso-bidi-font-weight:\nbold'>Willie Reid<\/span> (foot\/questionable), who has missed the past seven<br \/>\ngames.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<h2><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Falcons-Redskins<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=MsoBodyText><st1:State><st1:place>Washington<\/st1:place><\/st1:State><br \/>\nTimes<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=MsoBodyText><span lang=EN style='mso-ansi-language:EN'>the Falcons not<br \/>\nonly lost back-to-back to the Lions and Browns (3-17 against the rest of the<br \/>\nleague) but followed with one-sided defeats to heavyweights Baltimore and New<br \/>\nOrleans. The latter 31-13 spanking was preceded by owner Arthur Blank<br \/>\nthreatening major changes if Atlanta didn\u2019t produce a winning season and was<br \/>\npunctuated by franchise player Vick\u2019s now-infamous dirty bird salute to the<br \/>\nhecklers in the Georgia Dome crowd. &nbsp;Injuries have hurt the defense which<br \/>\nadded passrusher John Abraham and safeties Lawyer Milloy and Chris Crocker in<br \/>\nthe offseason, but played without Abraham and middle linebacker Ed Hartwell for<br \/>\neight games apiece. Atlanta\u2019s defense is ranked 22<sup>nd<\/sup>, just as it was<br \/>\nlast year. Stevie Vincent\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/betonsports360.com\/\"><b>BetOnSports360.com<\/b><\/a><br \/>\nis pioneer in forensic handicapping and part of <b style='mso-bidi-font-weight:\nnormal'><span style='color:blue'><a href=\"http:\/\/www.offshoreinsiders.com\/\"><span\nstyle='font-weight:normal;mso-bidi-font-weight:bold'>OffshoreInsiders.com<\/span><\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><\/b><span style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  <\/span>The Falcons are ninth<br \/>\nagainst the run and 11<sup>th<\/sup> in sacks but 30<sup>th<\/sup> against the<br \/>\npass. The Falcons\u2019 3-4 NFC record is the worst of the conference\u2019s five teams<br \/>\nthat are 5-6 overall, putting them 11<sup>th<\/sup> in the race for six playoff<br \/>\nspots with three road games and home dates with contenders Dallas and Carolina<br \/>\nremaining. Against <st1:City><st1:place>Jacksonville<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>,<br \/>\nthe Redskins played their most physical game offensively and Clinton <span\nclass=SpellE>Portis<\/span> had his only 100-yard rushing outing of the season.<br \/>\nBut the Redskins have sputtered since. They lost to the New York Giants, <st1:State><st1:place>Tennessee<\/st1:place><\/st1:State><br \/>\nand <st1:City><st1:place>Indianapolis<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> leading to the<br \/>\nOct. 29 bye weekend, and lost to <st1:City><st1:place>Philadelphia<\/st1:place><\/st1:City><br \/>\nafter an emotional victory at home against the Dallas Cowboys. Williams, who returned to practice after missing Wednesday\u2019s<br \/>\nworkout, remained questionable while Cousin, who has missed five weeks with a<br \/>\ntorn groin muscle, practiced for the second consecutive day and was upgraded<br \/>\nfrom doubtful to questionable. With both Williams and Cousin out in <st1:City><st1:place>Buffalo<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>,<br \/>\nthe Jaguars started rookie Dee Webb at cornerback and he was victimized on<br \/>\nthree big plays that led to <st1:City><st1:place>Buffalo<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>\u2019s<br \/>\n17 first-half points.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<h3><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Sun Sentinel<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=MsoBodyText>Last year\u2019s season-ending six-game winning streak and<br \/>\noffensive improvement coincided with then offensive coordinator Scott <span\nclass=SpellE>Linehan<\/span> moving from the coach\u2019s box to the sideline where<br \/>\nhe could communicate directly with his players. This year\u2019s offensive turnaround<br \/>\nseemed to begin with another shift of positions. <span class=SpellE>Damion<\/span><br \/>\nMcIntosh moved from right guard to his natural spot at left tackle, and<br \/>\nexpensive offseason free-agent acquisition <span class=SpellE>L.J<\/span>.<br \/>\nShelton slid over from left tackle to right guard, a position he never played<br \/>\nat any level. The offensive line has clicked since the swap was made prior to<br \/>\nGame 6 against the Jets. The average points have increased from 12.2 to 22.7.<br \/>\nRushing yards have gone from 84.9 to 111.1 yards per game. Quarterback <span\nclass=SpellE>Daunte<\/span> Culpepper was sacked a league-leading 21 times in<br \/>\nthe first four games, but Joey Harrington has gone down just eight times over<br \/>\nthe past seven games. Since the start of training camp, injuries, unfamiliarity<br \/>\nor poor play have combined to wipe out a group of guards, including Seth<br \/>\nMcKinney, Joe Berger, Joe Toledo, Bennie Anderson, <span class=SpellE>Kendyl<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=SpellE>Jacox<\/span> and McIntosh. It seemed to take two games,<br \/>\nlosses to the Packers and Jets, for the revamped unit to bond. Harrington, who<br \/>\ntook over for Culpepper the game before the line moves, has factored into the<br \/>\noffense\u2019s rise from 24<sup>th<\/sup> to 16<sup>th<\/sup>, with his quick release<br \/>\nand midrange passing skills. <st1:City><st1:place>Shelton<\/st1:place><\/st1:City><br \/>\nbelieves the line\u2019s success correlates to playing with leads and remaining<br \/>\ncommitted to the running game. The Dolphins trailed or were tied at halftime in<br \/>\ntheir first six games (1-5) and have been ahead at halftime in the past four<br \/>\ngames (4-0).<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<h2><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Jets-Packers<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>NY Post<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=MsoBodyText>The Jets practiced outside yesterday in the rotten<br \/>\nweather, as they often have done under Eric <span class=SpellE>Mangini<\/span>.<br \/>\nThe head coach wants his team to be ready for whatever conditions it might<br \/>\nface, and the strategy has already paid dividends when the Jets went to <st1:place>New<br \/>\nEngland<\/st1:place> and beat the Patriots on a wet, sloppy afternoon. There<br \/>\nwas nothing, however, <span class=SpellE>Mangini<\/span> could do to replicate<br \/>\nthe frigid temperatures or the remnants of the snowstorm that is hitting the <st1:place>Midwest<\/st1:place><br \/>\nand is sure to leave some remnants when the Jets play the Packers. <o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<h2><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Seahawks-<span class=SpellE>Broncso<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><st1:City><st1:place><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Seattle<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:City><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt'> Post Intelligencer<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=MsoBodyText>Eleven games into the season, with his team battling for<br \/>\nits division title, Mike Shanahan is starting a rookie quarterback in Sunday<br \/>\nnight\u2019s game against the Seahawks.
