Moss<br \/>\nsuffered the injury Oct. 22 at <st1:City><st1:place>Indianapolis<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>,<br \/>\nand even though the Redskins had a bye week following that game, Moss did not<br \/>\nplay in the Redskins\u2019 22-19 victory over <st1:City><st1:place>Dallas<\/st1:place><\/st1:City><br \/>\non Nov. 5. In Sunday\u2019s 27-3 loss at <st1:City><st1:place>Philadelphia<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>,<br \/>\nMoss clearly was not himself, catching three balls for 17 yards. Moss is the<br \/>\nRedskins\u2019 leading receiver this season, with 31 catches for 452 yards and three<br \/>\ntouchdowns. All three of his touchdowns came in the same game, a 36-30 overtime<br \/>\nwin over <st1:City><st1:place>Jacksonville<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>. His<br \/>\nfrustration regarding the injury is mounting, especially because quarterback<br \/>\nJason Campbell will make his debut tomorrow without the team\u2019s best wide<br \/>\nreceiver and best running back, Clinton <span class=SpellE>Portis<\/span>, who<br \/>\nwas placed on injured reserve earlier in the week. Coach <span\nstyle='mso-bidi-font-weight:bold'>Mike McCarthy <\/span>disclosed that Favre had<br \/>\nsuffered a groin injury Thursday during practice, an injury that the coach said<br \/>\n\u201creally bothered\u201d Favre as he took some but not all of the repetitions with the<br \/>\nNo. 1 offense Friday. Favre had been listed as probable on the injury report with<br \/>\nan ankle injury. The Packers now list him as probable with ankle and groin<br \/>\ninjuries. McCarthy was asked if he was at all worried about Favre and his<br \/>\nability to move Sunday. \u201cNo,\u201d he replied. \u201cI\u2019ve talked to him at length today.<br \/>\nHe doesn\u2019t think it\u2019s a big deal.\u201d It isn\u2019t certain if wide receiver <span\nstyle='mso-bidi-font-weight:bold'>Greg Jennings <\/span>(ankle) will start but<br \/>\nMcCarthy said he expected the rookie to play more than <span class=SpellE><span\nstyle='mso-bidi-font-weight:bold'>Ruvell<\/span><\/span><span style='mso-bidi-font-weight:\nbold'> <span class=SpellE>Martin.<span style='mso-bidi-font-weight:normal'>Tight<\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/>\nend <span style='mso-bidi-font-weight:bold'>David Martin <\/span>(shoulder,<br \/>\nthigh) and cornerback <span style='mso-bidi-font-weight:bold'>Will Blackmon <\/span>(rib)<br \/>\nreturned to practice Friday. For the Patriots, the only players definitely out are<br \/>\nstarting safeties <span style='mso-bidi-font-weight:bold'>Rodney Harrison <\/span>(shoulder)<br \/>\nand <span style='mso-bidi-font-weight:bold'>Eugene Wilson <\/span>(hamstring).<br \/>\nGame-time decisions probably will determine the availability of guard <span\nstyle='mso-bidi-font-weight:bold'>Stephen Neal<\/span> (shoulder) and cornerback<br \/>\n<span class=SpellE><span style='mso-bidi-font-weight:bold'>Asante<\/span><\/span><span\nstyle='mso-bidi-font-weight:bold'> Samuel <\/span>(knee). Neal has missed the<br \/>\nlast three games but appears close to playing. Samuel finished the last game<br \/>\nbut didn\u2019t practice all week. If Samuel cannot play, the Patriots probably<br \/>\nwould move safety <span style='mso-bidi-font-weight:bold'>Chad Scott <\/span>back<br \/>\nto cornerback and start <span style='mso-bidi-font-weight:bold'>James Sanders <\/span>at<br \/>\nstrong safety. <span class=GramE>Sanders, a fourth-round draft choice in 2005,<br \/>\nhas<\/span> played sparingly from scrimmage and, when he has played, has been<br \/>\nineffective. While <st1:City><st1:place>Warren<\/st1:place><\/st1:City><br \/>\nhas been seen with both shoulders wrapped in recent weeks, sources say he<br \/>\nmissed the Jets game because of a strained right calf. The team feared he might<br \/>\ntear it if he attempted to play. His importance to the defense was never more<br \/>\napparent than last week, when the Jets ran for over 100 yards and the Patriots<br \/>\nwere forced to shuffle their defensive line, moving Richard Seymour from his<br \/>\ncomfortable right end spot to <st1:City><st1:place>Warren<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>\u2019s<br \/>\nleft. Jarvis Green, a right-side player, took <st1:City><st1:place>Seymour<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>\u2019s<br \/>\nspot. Warren, a fourth-year player out of Texas <span class=GramE>A&amp;M<\/span>,<br \/>\nis in the midst of his best season. He recorded 43 tackles, two sacks and a<br \/>\nsafety in his first eight games, and remains on course to set career highs in<br \/>\nevery defensive category. If he plays the second half like he did the first,<br \/>\nhe\u2019ll deserve serious All-Pro consideration. The defense is yielding 49 more rushing yards a game than<br \/>\nlast season. There is a rookie running back, Joseph <span class=SpellE>Addai<\/span>,<br \/>\nreplacing the departed Edgerrin James. The offense has been limited in its use<br \/>\nof three-receiver plays because of an injury to receiver Brandon <span\nclass=SpellE>Stokely<\/span>. The Colts have already needed fourth-quarter<br \/>\ncomebacks in three games to remain unbeaten, and their average margin of<br \/>\nvictory is 6.6 points \u2014 nearly 10 points less than their margin of victory<br \/>\nduring their 13-0 start last season. Only two victories this season have come<br \/>\nby double digits; 9 of the first 13 last year were by double digits. And the<br \/>\nColts have already had two 1-point victories this season. That did not happen<br \/>\nat all last season. Brooks took the majority of first-team snaps at<br \/>\npractice Friday, according to a person who watched practice. Yet they prepare to face the Rams with a record of 5-4,<br \/>\none of eight teams in the conference within a game of .500. The Panthers<br \/>\nentered the opener without wide receiver Steve Smith, who led the NFL last year<br \/>\nin receiving yards and tied for the lead in receptions and receiving <span\nclass=SpellE>TDs<\/span> but suffered a hamstring injury in camp. The losses have been felt most<br \/>\nkeenly in <st1:City><st1:place>Carolina<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>\u2019s running game.<br \/>\nThe Panthers hoped that <span class=SpellE>DeShaun<\/span> Foster and rookie<br \/>\nDeAngelo Williams would form a 1-2 punch to soften defenses for the passing<br \/>\ngame. Instead, <st1:City><st1:place>Carolina<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> is ranked<br \/>\n28<sup>th<\/sup> in rushing yardage. Foster has gained 588 yards, 19<sup>th<\/sup><br \/>\nin the NFL. Williams has just 158 yards but has missed almost four games<br \/>\nbecause of an ankle injury. Perhaps more devastating was the concussion<br \/>\nsuffered in the opener by middle linebacker Dan Morgan. He was inactive for the<br \/>\nnext four games, <span class=GramE>then<\/span> was placed on injured reserve.<br \/>\nThe defense ranks in the middle of the pack in rushing, passing and total yards<br \/>\nallowed, though defensive end Julius Peppers has stood out. <span class=GramE>Peppers<br \/>\nleads<\/span> the league with 11 sacks and was named defensive player of the<br \/>\nmonth for October. The Panthers lost their first two games but reeled off four<br \/>\nconsecutive victories with Smith\u2019s return.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<h1><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Bengals-Saints<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h1>\n<h2><st1:City><st1:place><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Cincinnati<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:City><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt'> Enquirer<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=MsoBodyText>Starting right guard Bobbie Williams had an emergency<br \/>\nappendectomy Wednesday afternoon and is out for the game Sunday at New <span\nclass=SpellE>Orleans.Since<\/span> signing as a free agent before the 2004<br \/>\nseason, Williams has started 42 consecutive games. Playing alongside tackle<br \/>\nWillie Anderson, Williams is a key part in the Bengals\u2019 power run game. The Bengals<br \/>\nplayed the past four games with the same starting line after juggling the<br \/>\nquintet the first five games because of injuries to starting left tackle Levi<br \/>\nJones and starting center Rich Braham. Backup Eric <span class=SpellE>Ghiaciuc<\/span><br \/>\nhas started six games at center, and rookie backup Andrew Whitworth four at<br \/>\nleft tackle and two at left guard.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=MsoDate><st1:date Year=\"2006\" Day=\"19\" Month=\"11\">Monday, November 19,<br \/>\n2006<\/st1:date><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<h1><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Giants-Jaguars<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h1>\n<h2><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>New York Times<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=MsoBodyText>Using the same 11 starters from last season, the unit<br \/>\nglided through the early stages of this season. It featured an array of star<br \/>\nplayers swirling around the nucleus of an underrated offensive line, usually<br \/>\nmoving downfield. Now, in the second half of the season, there is concern. Left<br \/>\ntackle Luke <span class=SpellE>Petitgout<\/span> and wide receiver <span\nclass=SpellE>Amani<\/span> <span class=SpellE>Toomer<\/span> are on injured<br \/>\nreserve. The Giants\u2019 offense has become less a model of cool efficiency and<br \/>\nmore a contraption of fits and starts. The Giants (6-3) averaged 27.2 points in<br \/>\ntheir first six games, but 17 in their past three. Now they are headed south to<br \/>\nplay the Jacksonville Jaguars (5-4) on Monday night.
