The Panthers (4-4) have led going into the<br \/>\nfourth quarter in seven of eight games, only to lose three of them. They haven\u2019t<br \/>\nscored a point in the second half in the last two games, both losses. While <span\nclass=SpellE>Gradkowski<\/span> has thrown only one interception, the Bucs have<br \/>\nthe second-worst offense in the league. Five times, Carnell \u201cCadillac\u201d Williams<br \/>\nhas rushed for 48 yards or less, including last week, when he managed only 39<br \/>\nyards on 12 carries against the <span class=SpellE>Saints.On<\/span> defense,<br \/>\nSimeon Rice has only two sacks as a sore shoulder has affected his play. He and<br \/>\ndefensive tackle Ellis <span class=SpellE>Wyms<\/span> missed practice time late<br \/>\nin the week and may not play Monday, giving <span class=GramE>coach<\/span> Jon <span\nclass=SpellE>Gruden<\/span> more headaches. <span class=GramE>The Bucs rank 22<sup>nd<\/sup><br \/>\nin the NFL in total defense.<\/span><span style='mso-spacerun:yes'>\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s<br \/>\nbeen a long two weeks for the Panthers, who had a bye last week after being<br \/>\noutscored 25-0 in the fourth quarter of a Sunday night loss to <st1:City><st1:place>Dallas<\/st1:place><\/st1:City><br \/>\na week earlier. <st1:City><st1:place>Carolina<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> committed<br \/>\nthree turnovers in the final 10 minutes to blow a 14-10 lead. It left star<br \/>\nreceiver Steve Smith grumbling about the play calling and for being asked to<br \/>\nreturn punts. Only three players on the<br \/>\nopening day roster (Aaron Jackson, <span class=SpellE>Kieron<\/span> <span\nclass=SpellE>Achara<\/span> and <span class=SpellE>Almamy<\/span> <span\nclass=SpellE>Thiero<\/span>) have Division I playing experience <span\nclass=GramE>Of<\/span> the three, Aaron Jackson is the only one who hasn\u2019t missed<br \/>\nextensive practice time due to injury.
