Villanova-Connecticut

Press Notes

VU has now won 18 of its last 19 in regular season
conference action dating back to 2004-05. Villanova improved to 9-1 (.900) on
the road with its win at Cincinnati.
The Wildcats are 14-4 as the visitor over the past two seasons. In the two
years prior to that, VU was 9-16 (.360) on the road.

Michigan State-Indiana

Press Notes

The last two Michigan State-Indiana games in Bloomington
have gone into overtime. IU won 78-74 last season,
while MSU was a 67-62 victor on Feb. 8, 2003. In fact, three of the last five
meetings in Assembly Hall have gone extra time as the Hoosiers won a 81-79 overtime contest on Feb. 11, 2000. One year later, Indiana
defeated No. 1 Michigan State, 59-58, on a last second 3-pointer. Indiana
leads the all-time series with Michigan State, 61-41, including a 39-10
advantage in games played in Bloomington.
MSU has won 10 of the last 15 games in the series.

California-Washington

That marks the 19th and final home game, the
most for the Huskies since 1950. first meeting was
tied with 38 seconds remaining before the Golden Bears finished off a 71-69 win
on Jan. 26 in Berkeley. Both teams
won their Thursday games. The Huskies defeated Stanford 75-57 and the Golden
Bears were 43-41 victors at Washington
State
. Five seniors make their
final home appearance Sunday for the Huskies. They have helped the Huskies to a
50-12 four-year record at Bank of America Arena, including a 32-game winning
streak that was the nation’s longest.  Washington
won three of the last four meetings to claim a 71-70 edge in the all-time
series.

Ball State-Toledo

Toledo (14-10,
7-8 MAC) hosts Ball State
(9-15, 5-10 MAC looking to extend its four-game Mid-American Conference win
streak. The Rockets will be looking to avenge their 69-56 setback to the
Cardinals on Jan. 29 in Muncie. UT
jumped out to a 12-6 advantage in that contest but BSU
quickly responded with an 11-1 run and the Rockets trailed the remainder of the
game. The Cardinals bring a two-game losing streak into the contest with both
defeats coming at home. The Cardinals rank second in the MAC in scoring defense
(62.7 ppg) but are 11th in scoring offense (62.1 ppg). BSU is 1-6 in MAC road contests this season with its only
win at CMU (63-60) on Feb. 15. UT leads, 35-33. The Rockets have won their last
three meetings with the Cardinals in Savage.

Maryland-North Carolina

The University
of North Carolina
(18-6, 9-4
Atlantic Coast Conference) will hope to win for the eighth time in its last
nine games when it hosts Maryland
(16-10, 6-7 ACC) on Sunday evening at 5:30 p.m.
at the Smith Center
in Chapel Hill. The game will be televised nationally by
Fox Sports Net. The Tar Heels are coming off their fifth consecutive ACC road
win, a 95-71 victory at No. 15/14 NC State on Wednesday. UNC
is ranked No. 21 in the Associated Press poll and No. 21 in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll. Carolina
has won six of its first seven ACC road games this season with a date at Duke
remaining on March 4. The six road wins by this season’s
team matches the number of conference road games won by last year’s NCAA
championship squad (6-2).

UNC has won at Virginia Tech, Florida
State
, Maryland
, Miami,
Wake Forest
and NC State and lost at Virginia
in 2005-06. After losing three of four games in mid-January, the Tar Heels have
won seven of their last eight contests. Maryland
dropped a 71-60 decision at Florida State
on Wednesday. The Terrapins have lost six of the their
last eight games, including a 77-62 Carolina
victory in College Park on Feb. 2.
The Tar Heels lead the series with Maryland,
112-53. Carolina has won four in a
row and five of the last six in the series.
